• @nathanoman1 NW dyslexic rants put us on a rock n roll map that can never be matched!!!!!

• I didn't understand this, but I loved it.

• Considering when it was released, this song reminds me alot of the newest 3 Melvins albums.

• One of my favorite Melvins songs, never heard anything like it.

• Old Melvins is so much fucking better than new Melvins

• Joe Preston =)

• This has some of my favorite drum bits of all time

• @thecripper4 just listen to the fucking music and quit trying to get attention. I give you a thumbs down just for being pathetic. Would you feel cooler if you had alot of thumbs? i hope a goat rapes you

• @omophagist666 i'm giving thumbs way up for the goat raping comment.

• @omophagist666 Yes. Goat rape. Appropriate. Well said.

• Fuk yeah.

• if I have a kid he will be Lysol and have to stand accordingly.

• hey guys. Just saw that documentary Hype! last day. Heard a Melvins song, maybe it was a Kiss cover, but the lyrics were something like:

"Looking for one like you were

Holding like so long ago

Like a hotel

Like a fish store

My world war tissue"

Can any1 help me with the title?

• it's nightgoat

• @watcher235 It's not "nightgoat", this is the very last song on "lysol" called "with teeth".

• @flamesfearfuture watcher235's post was a response to martinwrang's question which Melvins song is featured in the documentary 'Hype'. And watcher235 is right, it was Night Goat.

• @martinwrang "Night goat off houdini"

• Dale is the most underrated drummer ever.

• if anyone is interested, joe preston hosts a radio show on the kmbt website, his portion is called F that S.

• What is it about?

• its a radio show, he plays music. im pretty peeved now though cuz the site has been down for a while.

• great to hear that, do u have the site, the day and hour? thanks.

• this video AND song are fucking awesome.

• always been one of my favorites. Great song!!!

• one of the great ones, up there with oven and zodiac...

• joe looks so sad at :38

• @motherbrain86 yea wonder what that's about. maybe they just ended a song.

• how cool is joe preston

• remember Shaft? that cool

• Maybe my favorite Melvins song.

• if i ever have a kid im naming him melvin after these guys lol

• @pukeonmyshoe2130 the band actually got their name from buzzes boss when he worked at a convience store, everyone thought melvin was a real dick

• Lysol

• Ne meine Mutter wußte gar nicht das es die gibt

• Is ja lustig ich heiß Melvin :D

• blos gibt es die länger als dich.mögen deine eltern vielleicht melvins?

• Check out TAD greasebox he sounds influenced from the melvins heavier songs.

• MMMmmmmm this songs fucking great when youve had like 2 hours sleep all day on top of that been high, that bassy deep sound massages my ears man {:) .

• They are a very cool band, but don't forget about the Pixies!

• the melvins are the best band ever. period

• Brings a tear to my eyes. Great song, and great band.

• Typical Melvins, nothing expected can be expected. Raw sounds and live performances, love it!

• follow the roots of your modern music n u reach gold. like nirvana so i read bioghrahy, n learn of influences of kurt. melvins influence kurt so im all like hmmmmm lets see. n i hear gold, very good music

• the first piece of Melvins i ever heard was the Eggnog EP. i was completely in love with it at an instant. now i have: Gluey Porch Treatments, Ozma, Bullhead, Lysol, and Houdini. Ozma's my favorite and Eggnog is my second favorite. :)

• My favorite is a three-way tie between Bullhead, Eggnog, and Lysol. I know that's cheating, but I can't just choose between them!

• Good stuff!!!

I love the rawness!!! Pure, deliberate, untrained, passionate fury!!!!

• Mighty! Never heard them before and I'm from Seattle. I was even 17 when grunge broke out. So I'm confused by that. But I mean to rectify by buying this album and taking it from there.

• Maybe there should be an Unknown Grunge thread. If you hadn't heard of The Melvins, check out Tad:

Tad - "Stumblin Man"

watch?v=rvOslApgmIE

TAD - Busting Circuits and Ringing Ears - Trailer

watch?v=V0AxEKHOH4E

• i love TAD!

• If you haven't heard it before, you'll love:

TAD-Jinx

watch?v=J2sWTVz0ves

• If it wasn't for reading a book about Kurt Cobain I never would of heard of this band, which is by far better than Nirvana. Could anyone tell me a good album by this band to get?

• I'd say start out with Houdini and Stoner Witch, easiest stuff to get into by far and my favorites. If you like those, I'd get (A) Senile Animal and Stag. Everything is great though, so...I'd say get it all really.

• houdini, stoner witch, and bullhead are the best 3 melvins albums

• Buy em all!!!

• That's the toughest question. They have many a whole lot of albums and most of it is great. Bullhead, Lysol, Eggnog, and Nude With Boots are my favorites. Nude With Boots is their newest album.

• actually, chichen switch is

• Houdini is classic. A newer one, senile animal, is pretty sic to IMO. Search for the video to "The Talking Goat". That's off Senile Animal.

• Houdini is their Nevermind in terms of mainstream appeal. Other good 'uns are Ozma, Stag, Lysol go and check em all out it's worth it

• Gluey Porch Treatments ;)

• Got see them in Seattle w/ Green River back in may....my bones are still aching from that. :]

• Comment removed

• The Webster Hall show was indeed fantastic.

• i hate the didpute between who started the alternative grunge scene in the 90's etween the pixies and the melvins i thought it was the pixies but some say otherwise either way this tracks really fuckin grungy

• they will kick your ass :D

• "... a band powerful enough to turn goat piss into gasoline."

• @ghostofsedition blues brothers, but i do agree

• Melvins are great,i got some live Melvins vids

• this is pretty sweet

• The Webster hall show was epic. Glad I went. Now if my ears would just stop ringing...

• I was at the show in nyc too.. this song was epic.

• just got home from the show in NYC.They played this, it was mind-blowing.

• Man buzz look young in this video

• thanks for posting this. amazing song.

• they are one f the best bands i have ever seen

• the lyrics and music are incredible......

• i wish these guys came to wilkes-barre

• i'm new to melvins but i would listen to this and honey bucket looped for 2 days fucking love them, well i suppose i love everything ive heard

• Boris is an amazing tune and At a Crawl is spectacular too check em out you'll definitely like it

• Check out the song "Billy Fish".

• check out the melvins tour dates!

• You've got the part that's living now It's a tiny bit nasty But it's a part now just the same Have you the time to make it right? Lord knows I'm gonna let it fly I know it's not very evil But you've just got to learn to let it go Sometimes when the heart beats wide You can take it on the doves Like siz the well known water Like siz the well known war
• those are some great lines

love it

• It wasn't until the end of the song that I realized that this was Lysol.

• Fuck yes.

• well, u do now.

• Gosh, that's heartbreaking. reading that made me think of the time when I sold a whole stack of vinyl records (original Beatles, picture discs, Hendrix, Doors etc.) to some shark at a car boot sale for twenty quid. He had a real bargain. I didn't want to part with any of them - but circumstances, other people and my own stupidity brought it about. I still can't recall it without feeling sick with regret. That was a few years of collecting and a major chunk of my life.

• Wanna hear something sad? I had this album when it was called "Lysol". I recently lost in a fire. That and Green Jelly when they were called Green Jello.

• OMG Green Jello! And I thought I had the only copy lol....

• Ah! You may or may not have known that D Jr was originally called Dinosaur (I have the "You're Living All Over Me" tape with the original band name on it, as well as Homestead Records' "The Wailing Ultimate" comp on cd with the original name still intact and the song Repulsion. Mascis got sued or threatened with suit over the name by the original band from the 60's (or their label? can't remember...

• I wish I had hazy memories of this song - or any Melvins song come to that! I'm just getting into Melvins music - it really makes me wish I'd spent my younger days going to gigs and festivals and all that stuff...

• Nothing wrong with starting now- trouble is now if you remember when emo* was Fugazi, Moss Icon, Rites Of Spring etc. (these bands hated the label, btw)- you go to a show without hitting a band's myspace page and you'll have your ears raped by some whiny "Oh please give me sex" followed by tough guy deathy "give me sex I want sex more duff beer" in the same stupid song after song...

*- Yeah, I know Melvins're not emo, just giving an example of what happens if you don't research ahead of show!

• 1.buy cds,...

2.activate cd player

3.light self on fire

4.????

5.PROFIT!

• great example of their range within one song.

I just keep hitting replay.

brings back hazy memories of when this was first out

• Deeply darkly atmospheric - I love it.

• great music

• brings tears to my eyes.

• Yeah, great isn't it?

• Without a doubt, one of the greatest metal albums ever, top 25.

• this song is written by the melvins, right? not a coversong?

• yeah this is an original song, it's off the album "Melvins" a.k.a Lysol.

• thanks... well i know about lysol but i always wondered if it´s a cover

• What album is this from and if somebody else who is actually trying to answer the question says Houdini you shouldn't listen to this song.

• It's off of Lysol.

• When these guys are good, they're awe inspiring. I saw them, years ago, in a small room in Lincoln, Nebraska. Fkng amazing.

• one of my favorite songs from lysol.

• This is the shit. I feel that sums it up nicely.

• houdini

• what album is this one from?

• Lysol aka their The Melvins.

• thanks yo

• This song is oh so heavy. Love them Melvins

• Cool video. Cool song.

• just now gettin into the melvins after hearin a song here there over the days

they are pretty cool

• TOOL and The Melvins are good buddies apparently. 2 wonderful wonderful bands.

• nirvana never whent mainstream the mainstream found them!

• WORD

• fuckin kill me with that sludge!!!!!!let me die!!!

• god dammit I wish i lived in California. Lysol is so fucking incredible

• what album is this from? and which one of us is gonna slap trent reznor's faggot ass for just using the name?

• Lysol and yeah, NIN sucks.

• I'd like to point out NIN is still linked with this band somewhat closely (David Grohl played drums on with teeth)... I love all the bands mentioned... NIN, The Melvins (of course), Nirvana... Maybe you're listening to the wrong NIN songs... Cause I must admit some songs sound awfully "pop"esk... Although I'm still somewhat fond of them too now that I look more into the band...

• Grohl played on NINs "With Teeth" album... Not this song... Just to clear up any confusion...

• Grohl was a sick drummer that went onto to cash in on the most mundane and sadistically horrible pop music around. But Foo's first album actually has a few songs that kinda hit.

• Yeah, Downward Spiral actually brings back memories. A good Nirvana album is Bleach, although Dave Grohl isn't on there.

• It´s called "having a different taste or opinion than you".

• Yeah, but you can't say Bleach had more talent. I mean come on. Floyd the Barber, it's two power chords a step down. You can tell they matured so much between Bleach and In Utero.

• Your mom loves it you little unce unce nutsack

• As awesome as they are this is not their best song

• Hell yeah, I'm seeing them play all of Lysol next month in SF. They're playing Houdini the night before, but this I can't miss.

• Dale fucking owns.

• Awesome

• Nerds.

• roman bird dog from this album is an excellent track

• Ah....Melvins...still going strong after so many years.

• Listen to Ozma / Gluey porch treatments fuck it!

• I seen these guys in K-Zoo Mi. They opened for Tool oddly enough. Great Show

• I totally agree with admaski.

• The melvins. Interesting band. There are three big bands I credit with sort of paving the way for grunge: Sonic Youth, The Melvins, and Black Flag. None of them were really grunge bands though, if you think on it.

• But you miss The Pixies.

• why do peopel always have to argue about grunge msuic just fuckign enjoy it!!!

• hell yeah man, these guys gots to chill

• Your all shitheads if you think Nirvana suck.Nirvana are about the only band that made it in the mainstream that where GOOD. Ok I don't like the production on Nevermind but the songs are good and Bleach and In Utero kick ass.The Melvins however are god. Love this song.Gluey Porch treatments,Bullhead and Houdini kick ass.Mudhoney rule,Dinosaur Jr rule Nirvana rule Black Flag Rule.THE MELVINS ARE GOD,Saw them play this year they kicked ass, played all houdini.

• this and 'echohead/don't peice me' are thier best work

• nirvana do not suck!

• yeah nirvana sux watever better than afi,my chemical romance that shit sux u prob think nirvana sux coz they got popular some stupid shit like that but gotta say i like wat ive heard of the melvins me i dont realy care who likes wat coz i will listen to who and watever i want me i like nirvana and the melvins this sounds like the argument between rage fans/soundgarden fans/audioslave fans i mean who cares if sounds good to me i listen 1chord 2chord 3or 4 i dont care

• what the fuck are u talking about?

• Nirvanas influence from dem, is like more shown in their earlyer stuff on bleach.

gotta say.. Melvins are amazing!! PURE GRUNGE!

• Actually in Kurt Cobains original demo tape "Fecal Matter" he performed with The Melvins band members.

• Oh, and I believe some songs on Bleach are actually songs from Fecal Matter :)

• simply the best, they fick all

• I saw these guys in providence, INCREDIBLE! The only problem was that they had that kid playing the drums along with Dale which totally took away from the set, every two minutes they would break into some stupid drumsolo, They need to drop that guy and drop that Joe Lally guy. Man he SUCKED.

• jared (bass player) and coady (other drummer) are part of the new line-up, dumbshit. they're going to a double drum kit with two drummers and jared is an incredible bass player...if you knew music you would understand!!!

• The Heaviest of the Low

• By the way Nirvana sux i forgot 2 mention that part

• I guess thats why they made it and you didn't...If nirvana sucks, then I would rather suck then to not suck like you Mr not suck...nigga guy.

• no Nirvana got popular because ppl were getting sick of Glam and Hair Metal so they started listening to the polar opposite, hence y grunge got popular

• They're stuff with Jello Biafra is the greatest

• kick ass band not sure about how bands like Nirvana draw influence from them tho

• maybe because they were friends? and dale played on their early stuff and did shows with them? and they where from aberdeen too?...i dont know you tell me xD

• idk either, but Nirvana sucked dick except for Heart Shaped Box, i found that song tolerable

• listen to the early stuff if you like the melvins.

• you know what's cool babe? we saw them, and then you know what else? we met them

• dig that funky groove thang

• WORD UP D-O-DOUBLE-G

• AHHHH. long live! beautiful shit

• The birth of Sludge metal !!!

• Yeah right.

• sick as hell.....
