i could make this model in about 1 minute with using some more basic tactics, like to safe 2 minutes with your model (from 4:20-6:25 in vid):
Ctrl+A > unselect the circle > press 'follow me' > press the circle > done.
but this is a nice tutorial.

Yeah this is good for someone that needs to get it done, but not the most efficient method. Check out the sketchup show if your interested in learning a few good pointers. Other then that - it gets the job done.

What CPU are you using? I have an old 1.8GHz pentium dual core and it absolutely hates google sketchup. You should get an Intel i7, i know i will.
