Why do so many fear law abiding citizens that carry firearms and trust police so much more? We both train with our weapons. And all the guys I know that carry have a great appreciation for life. I've never seen anyone get into an argument and draw the weapon. So what is the fear all about?
@Dog070 we can legally carry in a bar if we want. Its private property and as long as the owners don't discriminate against us we are well within our rights to do so.
ya'll are dumbasses. you are just doing it for looks I guess. Because in Georgia you can't carry in any place that serves alcohol. so basically ya'll can't go in anywhere on the strip(unless your laws are dif.)
I really don't get all the fuss. Open Carry is legal in the state of the NV. These guys in the video are not breaking any law, so why all the negatives? To those who don't care for Open Carry...then don't! No one is forcing you to do so. What gives you the right to impose your fear on others?
I completely agree with Open Carry, where I disagree is on the ID issue. I believe every non-Felon, over 18, should be permitted to open carry; as a trade off I personally do not think it is unreasonable to show ID to prove you're of age, and not a convicted felon. The other advantage to that is it lets cops know those open carrying are responsible, honest, law abiding citizens exercising their 2nd Amendment Rights. I hasten to add that this is merely my opinion.
Wow what a bunch of little bitches walking around feeling like badasses and taking pictures every second like high school girls. I support open carry but don't do it just to be an attention whore.
Why should the citizen pay for so called license to a constitutional right.
If the gov wants you licensed they the gov should pay for training. All except ammunition at the fire rang test.
It would be simple to have the state police fire arms instructor, review by two or three prosecutors and a state appellate judges to make sure it is right. Then put all info on DVD about the legal requirements. Make them available through the web, local police and county.
First off, let me say that I completely respect your right to open carry.
With that said, I'm against open carrying (or at least the general idea of it) and more in favour of concealed carrying. Open carry feels too... I don't know, brutish? Plus it leads to douchebags who open carry down streets just to stir shit up. An armed society is a polite society sure, but can't we be more discrete about it?
@Mantonization Anyone who thinks people who open carry are somehow aggressive/"brutish" purely for that reason are most likely projecting their aggressive tendencies onto that person.
If you feel like you're at competition with everyone you meet, you're most likely going to perceive open carry as confrontational, because you THINK they're playing your game.
You need to learn to live with people doing what they want to do, otherwise everyone's going to suffer.
@ihaterobbie123 I don't feel like I'm at competition with everyone I meet, I assure you.
I wasn't sure brutish was the right word, but I was just talking about how I don't like the fact that you get a LOT of idiots open carrying. There's one video on Youtube of some college kid carrying his AK on his back down the street, and he says in the video that he's only doing to cause trouble and annoy people.
People like that are why I'm more in favour of concealed carry than open carry.
@Mantonization annoying someone is not against the law. there are enough people who feel like you do about open carry that simply walking down the street with a gun on his back was "causing trouble and annoying". if no one cared what anyone else was doing with their lives, it wouldnt ever be an issue.
was that college kid loading rounds in the chamber, aiming the barrel at anyone or actually discharging his firearm? then he was acting within the law. there should be no issue. food for thought...
A great video! This is what we all hope for everyday that we get out of our beds and get strapped in the mornings. A boring day of carry is a GREAT DAY of carry.
I don't believe carrying a gun actually makes you safer. What if you mistakenly "defend" yourself and kill an innocent person who you mistake to be committing/about to commit an act of violence? I really don't understand America's fascination with guns.
That being said, I absolutely applaud you for standing up for your rights.
@jonwedell First off, I'm glad to see that your respect the Rights at play here. Secondly, the FBI stats prove that law abiding citizens that Open Carry and those that have their Concealed Carry licenses are responsible for fewer accidental deaths via shootings than are LEO. We are more likely to stop a crime in progress than are LEO as well. I'm not trying to say that we are better than LEO, just that there are more law-abiding citizens than LEO's. We're responsible for our own safety.
Open carry like this to me means you put faith in LEO that they will not murder you for your open carry. I don't trust LEO's anymore than the criminals. This does not look to me like the most responsible way to carry your firearm. Not in these conditions. One of you will likely end up another Erik Scott, though he didn't try to rub his gun in the noses of the public and law enforcement.
@bicylindrico While I respect your POV and the right to speak your mind, the fact is that I NEVER encountered a "bad guy" that openly carried their weapon in a holster. Every bad guy I encountered that was carrying, had their weapon illegally concealed or was carrying their weapon "Mexican carry" (in the waistband of their pants unholstered). Every LEO I know understands that a visibly holstered weapon usually means a lawful, legally Open Carried weapon.
As a Southern UT resident only a few miles from NV...even though I have a Utah CFP (not recognized in NV) I am forced to Open Carry (fine by me) when i visit NV. I'm glad you guys have enlightened LV Metro to the constitution that they have all sworn to uphold....I'll feel better visiting your fine state in the future...Now, work on Reciprocity with the Utah CFP...so we can conceal and defend ourselves if that is our choice.
LVMPD has mandatory training for all POST officers to familiarize officers with Nevada law regarding the open carry, and to clarify the department's policy on the proper response to citizens exercising their second amendment rights. The training highlights what is and is not reasonable articulable suspicion to perform a Terry stop. It makes the point that random "registration" checks are not allowed. If the firearm is all you have, you don't have anything.

This is not responsible ownwership. The only people you fight are those who are sworn to protext ppl like you who cause more trouble but such actions. @onem3 I don't feel inclined to define my reason for carrying to you or anyone else, it is my right, period. Yes, I carry almost everywhere I go. I greatly value my life, and the lives of those I care about. It would be irresponsible to not have every means of defending myself and those around me. I hate to answer with a question, but when you get into a car, do you feel so threatened you need to wear a seatbelt? I buckle up and carry because I know that I alone am responsible for my safety.
@onem3 Not showing a firearm may invite trouble. The people sworn to protect us can't and wont. How many minutes in your city between the 911 call and the cop showing up? 3? 6?
Do you think excercising your other Rights invites trouble? Your 2nd Amendment Right protects you from an overreaching government. No wonder wrong-thinking cops don't like OC and good cops appreciate it.

You "onem3" represent the very cancer in America because you are to cowardly to assert your Constitutional rights and you have become indoctrinated by a system to feel it is some how wrong or scary for regular good citizens to have the right to carry just as police do and have the right to be left alone when they do.
@kneverr Well put. I have spent my entire adult life in the military or private military. It makes me feel so good to read input from Americans that love and understand their rights.
@onem3 maybe because 5,500 times a day in america the sight of a firearm without being fired prevents a crime it doesnt invite trouble it prevents it if you were in a store that was being robbed the first person you would run behind is the cop with the gun but guess what when the cops dont make it in time we are your next choice we being law abiding citizens with firearms i love how ppl like u are considered sheep who r happy eating grass thinking nothing can happen 2 u but when the wolf comes

@dodger592 1911's are single action only and are supposed to be carried in condition 1 with a round in the chamber and the hammer cocked. Carrying hammer down is dangerous and since 1911's are single action only, you would have to manually cock the hammer back in order to operate the firearm. When you say "7lbs of trigger pull for the single action" I think you're actually thinking of a pistol that will operate in a double action fashion for the first round, the 1911 will not.
@dodger592 lol, way to know your guns, smart ass. think, maybe even go read something, before you speak on something you dont really know much about...

Support Open Carry.
It IS the Law.
Legally, if they can see the gun it is a non-issue.
Keep it holstered when talking to Cops...just a friendly reminder.
But as long as it is holstered and visible it is a legal non-issue.
In most places it is FAR more legal than walking around drunk.
The Bill of Rights doesn't give you a single Right, it just declares that you ALREADY have them.
