Anyone ever read a webcomic about a black man coming to japan to teach english? The black man in this vid looks just like him!! Anyone know what I mean?
So is a PC a post-JET job? It's definitely not listed as an available position on the website. What exactly does a PC do and what are the requirements for it?
yeah - you have to be a JET first and gain experience before you can become a PC. Your prefecture will have a PA (Prefectural Advisor) that is usually a position that is open to 2nd years and up - but this may vary.
I saw your picture on the video they had for us to watch, while we waited for our interviews! Haha. Only of the other 5 people knew about you too, and we recommended your videos to the others~
I think that Kevin from Jamaica is in the JET promo video that I watched about a minute of before I was called into my interview early (the chap before me didn't show up). Talk about interviewing the best people! Your videos have been so helpful and they really prepared me for what to expect. So here's a big thank you from Down Under (alas not New Zealand but close enough;)
Hey Jason did you see any JETs from Barbados there? That's my home country. Our participation is pretty small ... 6 people this year I think so it's really competitive. I hope they keep increasing the number and I really hope get in when I apply this November.
Hey, your videos are fantastic. Really helping me out. My interview is in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday 11th. I was wondering if anybody knows what the grammar test that some applicants get in the interview includes.
i was good to see someone from my neck of the woods. I don't really hear alot about people from the Caribbean who take part in the JET Program so that was refreshing. Great video as usual Jason. =)
I've enjoyed hearing about JETs that were once ALTs and have moved onto working in the infastructure of claire and the program itself. Very interesting, and something to think about in the long term perhaps? Anyways, great video as always Jason!

I haven't met any JETs from Barbados - I don't think any of them live in Shimane. Good luck with your plans!

Thanks. The only Barbadian JET I know that's in Japan right now is my friend Claire who's in Iwate.

Nice interviews! Did you meet any fellow YouTubers?
Question:
Tokyo = to kyo
Tokyo = to ki yo
Which is it?

yeah - my pronunciation sucks! :P
It's of course, Toukyou - with the long "o" sound on both vowels, but I always shorten it.

how long do the jobs after teaching last? Because I'm planning to move to Japan after college, so I was wondering if there was a long-term job.

you can be an ALT for a maximum of 5 years, and CLAIR jobs last a maximum of 3 years.

Steve and Mary, I hope to meet you in a few months!
And I really liked the advice that Kevin gave.
