I swapped my VW motor for a 82 12A (stock carb) in my GT-40 replica back in '84. Still runs real fine. Used Kennedy Eng conversion plate for my 67 VW trans, stock Mazda 3-core rad up front with an early toyota 12V fan on manual switch(rarely ever used the fan) 1.25" copper tubing for coolant and have had no problems whatsoever. I am now going 100 EV. The chassis is rotten so starting from scratch(in-wheel electric motors).
Bravo, bravo! Gimmy more, I want to see how the baby drives! And maybe a third person view of how to get in and out? I love these cars, it's been on my top 5 kit cars since I was a kid! :D
To all those thinking it's a death trap: Shut up and drive you Kio Rio or Ford Probe off a cliff and say it's NOT a death trap. Jealousy runs in your veins, 'nuff said.
How do sterlings handle? Im thinking of building one in the future..
Btw: to all those "death shell" retards, thats is a HUGE glass window.. im sure it would break if the car flipped.. just crawl out, its tempered glass anyway.. its not going to cut you badily
my aunt owns a sterling and she said that the one she had which was built on a volkswagen chassis and with a VW engine in it handles amazingly well........... she siad that her dad was driving and he was going into a canyon on those really small canyon roads and he was going fast without any problem because sterlings tend to have alot of traction and they hug the road
The engine usually doesn't hesitate when starting like that. I guess that's how it goes when you're filming everything. I just made this as a test video, I figured I'd post it up on the youtubes for shits 'n giggles. Basically just shows some of the functional stuff about the car. Enjoy!
