  • It is a verry nice song on my scale is it 8/10

  • This song transcends French Lessons. U cannot get it out of ur head.....very hummable The McGarrigles have their following but should reach a broader audience.

  • So which sister is on harmonica? (not serious) aren't they all good!

  • So9 which sister is on harmonica? (only joking)

  • Dommage qu'une seule des relances d'accordéon de Kate (à 2:41) soit filmée !

  • anna is singing

  • This song ALWAYS, I repeat, ALWAYS puts a smile on my face

  • C'est pas croyable comme Martha (Wainwright) ressemble à sa maman.

Cette complainte est charmante comme tout, elle respire le Québec à souhait.

  • kate has a beauty mark above left lip

  • This is so beautiful

  • An absolutely stunning live version of this Kate and Anna classic. What glorious musicianship from everyone. Love the way Kate wields her accordion at 2.42. I believe the fiddler is Gilles Losier. Chaim Tannenbaum on harmonica.

  • Rest in peace Kate McGarrigle

  • Wonderful song, one of my favorites and a great live version. Awesome quality. Thank you ! I'll also mention that Anna's husband Dane Lanken is the singer on the far right in the white shirt singing bass.

  • jane mcgarrigle played sometimes on their records...organ, i guess.

  • childhood memorie

i love the way she begins the song

    sur saint ca - thrine

  • très bon.

  • The lead singer here is Anna McGarrigle with Kate on the ccordion. Is the third woman Jane McGarrigle, the third sister? I don't know if she was a performing musician.

  • @JoanneLight

    Yes it is sister Jane.

  • Yes, but I think Kate is the sister without the accordion in the red shirt, right ?

  • No, Kate is on accordion with sister Jane in red top.

  • Thanks for clarifying that, the short hair had me fooled. BTW, this is a fabulous clip, thanks for sharing it.

  • @1000Magicians Please let's get this right. Kate is the singer at the piano; Anna is standing and wearing a red shirt, she has greyish hair; as for the accordeon it could be Jane or someone else, i don't know. But I am certain Kate is playing the piano. Thank you !

  • Sorry but you are wrong and hav'nt got any of them right.

Anna is on piano, Kate on accordion, Jane in red top. Ill can post footage of Kate doing the introductions if you still dont believe me !

  • I'm sorry. Just saw the footage of Kate doing the introductions. Incredible ! At some point in their lives, Jane looked like Anna, Anna looked like Kate, Kate just looked like Kate but I did not recognize her with short hair. Thank you. I thought I knew my McGarrigle sisters well. Love them.

  • @JoanneLight

That's correct. And the third woman is indeed Jane.

  • Rest in peace sweet Kate.

Montreal is sad on your passing

  • Absolutely lovely French-Canadian song by the sisters,I have been a fan for 33 years and was so sorry to hear of Kate's passing.

  • Who plays accordion?

  • @hvilen that's Kate on the accordian, I remember in the early 80's when she got all her hair cut off, my friends and I were all so shocked LOL

  • RIP Kate, we will miss you.

  • Le dimanche on promène son chien...

    Quel humour!

Merci de nous rappeler ce beau souvenir!

  • So beautiful are their songs and performances, so sad is the news that came yesterday...

    Прощайте, Кейт! Вечная память.

  • I studied Russian. What you wrote means:

In English: Farewell, Kate ! Eternal Memory.

En français: Adieu Kate ! Mémoire éternelle.

    Spassiba ! I love Russia, j'aime la Russie !

  • Adieu Kate et merci pour ces joyeux souvenirs....

  • Adieu my chère Kate!

  • Kate dead at 63 (too young) Jan. 19/10 of clear cell sarcoma, a rare cancer. The McGarrigle sisters were great, and will be missed, but the family's musical tradition is in no danger of ending as sister Anna, plus Kate's musical offspring Rufus & Martha Wainwright are keeping it alive & well!

  • RIP Kate. Sweet voice. we will miss her.

  • RIP Kate. Great song, thanks.

  • RIP Kate. :(

  • doux souvenirs...

  • I achieved a grade A in my French O-level, so I can sing this beautiful modern folk song fluently. BBC Radio Merseyside in Liverpool, UK aired it extensively during the drought of 1976.

  • The Wainright McGarrigle family are so extraordinarily talented.

There is something very special that Canada can nurture and encourage such brilliant and collegiate musicianship.

  • This version is really good, I can understand the French words better than the 1977.

And they sing together very well. And I like the fiddle player, and also the concertina player.

    Thank you very much!

  • The song is from their album 'Kate & Anna McGarrigle' released by Warner Bros in 1975 #BS 2862.

  • I'm 2nd, I think, cousins with Kate and Anna

  • whoop-ti-doo!

  • Pardon me, Laurie. This ballade can be as gospel , or what?

  • Is this song on their album " Entre la jeunesse et la sagesse " ?
