Hi Mitch, my J.Costa Variator arrived today and I'm gonna install it at the weekend. The steel pin that goes through the centre of the variator seems quite a tight fit is this normal?
Dave, I am Mitch's friend that has a 2006 burgman with a jcosta installed. Yes, the steel collar that goes in the middle is a pretty tight fit at first. I had to push pretty hard to get it in the first time. After you run it for a little while it will loosen up slightly. I think the black dots in the middle of the variator are some type of dry lubricant that jcosta uses to keep everything sliding smoothly. Once they are worn down it should work just fine.

Do you have to remove this cover to replace the variator?

@davenix1955 yes the cover is blocking some bolts that you need to remove to take the clutch cover off
