2008 R2 is the server version of Win7. It has more "Roles" than Win7. In a corporate setup 2008R2 servers would be in charge of user names and passwords (among other things), and the employees of the corporation would be using windows 7 on their computers to do their everyday tasks. Any time they log into their computers it will be authenticated by the Win 2008R2 server. But it's not limited to just authentication at 0:30 secs you can see all the other jobs it can do
