If Sergio would have focused on getting cut, he would have destroyed Arnold here and for years to come. That was his weakness, IMO - massive but ill defined. Amazing at :54 Arnolds arms, chest and rib cage are out of this world!, sergio very good 60s BB but no chance against this 6'1.5" Austrian Oak with unreal size, shape and muscularity.
Amazing how much taller and bigger Arnold is vs his competetion! Huge frame with tiny waste in comparison! biggest olympia biceps and chest and calves ever!
They were the Giants of their day. Although Sergio was far superior in shape and mass. Arnold was far superior in condition, and his right bicep. Whoever you like better, and it doesn't matter. They both were truly ahead of their time.
Sergio Olivia the most underrated bodybuilder in history, to me, he is the greatest, waist of about 28 or 29 inches, and perfectly formed, no one in bodybuilding history compares to him, even Frank Zane did not have his waist, Bertil Fox is close, but Sergio was perfect! when people say who is the best bodybuilder, i hear "Arnold" or Ronnie" or even "Yates" i just don't see any of them coming close to the Myth!
Arnold had some amazing arms, and a stellar chest, which covered up a back that was thick, but without width or detail, and a total lack of triceps. If anything, he was a master of deception - and I mean that with all respect, as that is what BB is all about.
@rasro Arnolds back was very detailed. Ken Waller called it a roadmap in pumping iron. Arnold had incredible lower back development and actually good triceps but they are overshadowed from his huge biceps. He had an incredible physique. No need to try to take anything away from him.
@rasro Arnold did have a thick, detailed back, now Sergio did beat him in the width of the back with that amazing lat spread v shape...Arnold did have good triceps, only at the 80 Olympia did Arnold's triceps look poor
@jessedabody That would have been interesting if Sergio was more ripped, he certainly had the mass to beat Arnold, but conditioning was always an issue with Sergio
@moorigs If you look at footage of Sergio winning the Olympia 67-69,his condition in fact was excellent. In 70 he was smoother, but then so was Arnold, though this is never mentioned. In 72 Sergio was in great shape too.
The 73 Mr International also shows him in excellent shape (the few pics that exist) Only later,in contests he had little competition in,did he let his condition slip.
First of all - great job on this video. Secondly, I have to agree with other posters that Sergio may have been a little better here. the '72 Mr. O was a titanic battle between 2 all time greats.

Sergio's lats and triceps blow Arnold away. Also, Sergio has a much better "V" taper as his waist was something ridiculous like a size 27. Arnold has somewhere around a 33 - 34 waist. Arnold definitely has the biceps though.
@mstrshredder some people will argue that Sergio had "high lats", when infact he didn't, his lats were thick and full all the way down to his lower back. watch?v=2npAQmbqOek. Look at 1:01, there he's tilting his body backwards while holding onto a pull-up bar, see how his lats pop out at his waist.
honestly i thought arnold had a way better back definition, but sergio's quads destroy arnold's, arnold's quads just look too small for his body and where i think symmetry plays a huge role even in arnolds prime i thought his quads were his achilles heel. and for sergio's size his arms were massive. I thought it was politics and arnold won...
@MrEdwin619 Yea you are right about his their legs. But I think Arnold should have won because he matched Sergio in size (safe for quads/hams, not calves), and he had much better definition overall. His back was thick and massive and detailed, Sergio just had an awesome lat spread (and by awesome I mean absolutely amazing). So I think it could have gone either way but I think Arnold had the slightest edge.
@RocksBodybuilding do not get me wrong Arnold was in great shape, but i just think Sergio had the better overall look and better conditioning. IMO he should of won that Olympia. That V-taper is insane dude.
This was a VERY close battle. I'd say Arnie had a little more definition than The Myth did on this night. But, shit...Sergio was massive! He was better that night than he had been 1967-69 when he won Mr. Olympia. Arnie was a little smaller than he had been in 1971. If he had brought that package or his 73-75 packages, he would have defeated Sergio much more definitively.
This was close, but I'd have still given the win to Arnie...but just barely.
by 72' nobody was even close to the oak. i think he had already won the 70' and 71' olympias. he could have won every olympia in the 70's if he hadnt retired after the 75' show. he did come back and take it in 80', though. quality wise, theres never been to this day ? a better looking mr. olympia. sure some have been bigger, but they have all had imperfections, most noteably fat mid sections. but ive been out of touch for a few years, so maybe someone came along to match his symmatry.
sergio had better outer sweeps and thigh development. it was close,VERY CLOSE! Arnold being a bigger and leaner guy overall with that awesome chest, incredible bi's and fantastic back gave him the edge in the end I think.that and weider of course ; )....being a neutral I think it's fair to say arnold had the slight edge, even if arnold said he thought he was going to lose to sergio when posing. i think arnold said that as a compliment and that he really didn't believe it because he looked great!
contest was close. oliva had the advantage of a smaller waist tying into narrow hips with outer thigh sweeps flairing out like crazy when doin those crab poses. oliva also had a better shaped midsection but notice i said "shaped" because he was much smoother overall(abs obvious)than arnold even with gallons of oil on him. oliva also had no separation between his biceps and triceps when hitting those double bi poses with no bicep peak. overdeveloped forearms almost the same size as his upper arms
The quality of the muscle back then was just amazing. No bloated bellies, no HGH-contorted faces (a-la Jay Cutler), and muscle that looked like steel. The most muscular poses on both of these guys makes them look other-worldly. Now, it's like they're all pumped full of olive oil. Very sad.
Arnolds flow of posing routine is still unbeaten in my opinion. The symmetry and rythm that he shows clearly put him ahead of the game. Even if the opponent is bigger (and we ve seen that with Lou in 75) , Arnie is a winner as soon as he steps on the stage...
I hate Arnold. But. Where were Sergio's abdominal's? Look at the bicep peaks. Overall cuts. Size about the same. No doubt Arnold won this--as he should have. I have more issue with Arnold winning in 1980.
this really wasnt a close contest actually...it was touted to be but arnie's conditioning and superior bodyparts really made it a no brainer. sergio was big, and had some killer bodyparts but he wasnt as near as complete or polished and was really lacking in certain areas.
it was soely beacause of biceps...i've read like 4 articles about his decision/...check out 1:48 ...good example of how sergio's biceps dont compare. they're very narrow and skinny- sergio's arms are big bit there 80% tricep...arno;d is aesthetically the best
I'm so sick of this arnold was more cut and had a better back. Sergio was dripping with oil, Arnold wasn't end of story. Also Arnold's ab's were way better.
Your video is pro Arnold, and that is your privelage to do so, however you should just admit that it is a tribute to Arnold. Why pretend that it is for both of them. You have far more clear footage and stills of Arnold than Sergio. This video is just as insulting to Sergio as the movie See Arnold Run, which never mentions Sergio and leave him out totally. This is a forum in which you can be truthful, so be truthful and rename it the Arnold Tribute! Malik Jubal
@NemeanLion No doubt....2 great champions going head to head....even though I am a Pro-Arnold fan......this contest could have went either way and I would have been happy.
Arms Arnold(mainly cause of the peakiness in the bicep area, not overall size). Sergio Legs period. Arnold upper body definition. Sergio Upper body size. Sergio Back period.
So overall Sergio presented the better overall body on that stage. Arnold is the Legend no doubt but Sergio is the Myth. Bodybuilders today may look to Arnold but when they train they are searching for that total body symmetry that Sergio brought with the size he presented.
in sergio era he was the best simple artni era he was why compare? not reali fair knowledge and technique gets better fro learnig from the past i wouldnt compare arni to yates or ronnie difrent era different expetations more ripped mass etc
both of them 30 years ahead of the times, classic battle, till this day ,flip a coin, arnold has said , if he was a judge on this day, he would have picked sergio, . Arnold missed his peak, sergio was dialed in! pre judging had been held in a small area that did not help sergio's darker skin, where as arnold stood out. contest was held in essen germany ( arnold's back yard) .. remember reading sergio could have arrived on a bolt of lightning and still would of lost!
Both men are simply incredible. Sergio was the original mass monster, with the greatest shoulder to waist ratio ever. Arnold was another incredible mass monster. On any given day either one could win the olympia. Genetically Sergio was far superior to Arnold. Chest, back, abs, thighs, calves, triceps, Sergio owned Arnold. Right bicep peak and conditioning, Arnold owned Sergio. As a bodybuilding fan, both men were simply one word. AWESOME.
@lovingvegas71 Disagree: Arnold had Sergio in the chest and calves....Sergio had wider lats, but Arnold had better back detail, Sergio's abs were not great, but he did have that tiny waist.
Sergios mass with his small waist is awesome but over all arnold takes it. His bicep pose is second to none, his chest is sick and he's so dense and dry he looks like a statue. Darklander also has a point. Arnold barely looks like he has any oil on, sergio is dripping. The only Arnold victory I MIGHT question is 1980, but even then at worst he should have placed second.
@tatemansfeet I agree with your statements...except the 80....although Arnold not at his biggest or best...I still thought he brought enough to the table to edge out the others.
@tatemansfeet I tend to think that if Sergio competed at a lighter body weight and with more cuts then he'd have walked away with the title. Arnold learnt from his defeat by Frank Zane that biggest isnt necessarily best, a lesson Sergio never seemed to learn. I also think that Arnold reached a plateau in competition where noone could really beat him unless they could completely outclass him, a close contest would never be enough hence the 1980 victory. Sergio always had that potential though.
To those that think Sergio is bigger and better, go read a little. Sergio is nowhere near as toned, nor as dry as Arnold here. And Arnold's oil is shitty, sergio looks soaked! Makes HUGE different in pics. This is a deserved and clean win, deal with it!
@darklander81 LMFAO nobody said he was as ripped as Arnold here...that's what gave Arnold the edge...body building is all about illusion....Sergio's all though smaller height wise gave off the Illusion he was bigger because of his mass.....if Arnold knew this and thought he loss the contests...believe me I'm a pro Arnold guy.
@darklander81 The only bodybuilder in the history the sport that go into the Olympia slightly off was Lee Haney. If Haney showed up in 3 quarters of his best contest condition he'd still be light years ahead of the competition.
@jessedabody EVERYONE I've talked to who have seen Haney in person will say the exact same thing. Arnold is great but he was not head and shoulders above the rest. When Haney walked out on stage with the rest of the competition in the first Olympia he won, the contest was over before anyone hit a pose. When Arnold won his Olympias there are guys who thought they beat him and still think that but no one thought that about Haney, the contest was always for second place.
arnold took it with his crazy bis and thick chest and delts plus superior condition. he also had far superior calves and hams. sergio had him in chest and tris, and quad mass, plus the tiny waist. I think they got the judging right every time they went head to head.
@rcaddict72 I would have been happy either way...two all stars battling head to head...judging must of been hard that day because it could have went either way 4-3 Arnold...do you choose the guy with awesome mass all around with some cuts...or the guy with with better conditioning and not as massive......different times back then.
Arnold has a better looking chest with cuts and a higher biceps peek.
Sergio has a massive back and arms and just kills with any width type pose. Sergio also looks far bigger. The difference is in the definition. Sergio would be my pick if he lost a bit more body fat.
Arnolds chest is IMO what got him over the line so many times.
@AAAngus1 thats the point though, Sergio wouldnt have had as much size if he lost the fat...also, sergio had a massive back, but only UPPER back.. his lower lats were a major hole in his physique
@domagoj89 sergios' legs look "bigger" but bigger isn't better... why else do you think frank zane won so often? quality muscle wins everytime over large muscle.
Sergio had more thickness than arnold, and just al round genetics, very aesthetic alot like Roby Robbinson.
Arnold even looks a little flat here compared to sergio. Arnold never pulls off a lat spread, all his poses are chest and arms. I think Arnold was a money making machine for Joe Weider, very marketable and appealing to a wider audience. Arnold had the body but he also had persona and carisma that made him what he is.
The sport needed to get to the next level and the money was on Arnold, a lot of politics involved at this stage. Both guys looked pretty great though.
If this competition would have been "the most massive man contest" then Sergio won but this is bodybuilding where being massive is just one thing among many other important things. Standing ,without flexing his muscles Arnold not as massive as Sergio indeed but when Arnold is posing his body get transfom to a huge massive spectacular giant and that's the point where he's massive.I'm sure to get this Arnold trained by higher reps for each muscle(pumping)and that's why his body was more ripped.
Sergio all the way! If anyone was born to be a bodybuilder it was him, tiny tiny waist, arms that were bigger than his head! How many guys do you see now (with all the advanced steroids and drugs) with arms bigger than their heads?
Wow, Arnold looks even more massive and rugged/raw than in Pumping Iron in this video from 3 years before. I've read that he was actually at his biggest and best the year before P.I. Would like to see video of the 1974 versus 1975 Mr. O to compare.
@982Munchie I've read somewhere that he was asked to loose mass for the film 'Stay Hungry', because he looked too big standing next to Sally Field. So that will have affected his look in Pumping Iron. I think, for the film, he dropped from (and I could be a little off) 235 lbs to 210. Or something like that.
@TheRogueMonk I think it's apples and Oranges comparing posing routines....now symmetry is another story.....they had awesome symmetry back then and started to go south in the late 90's and 2000 and up .
Sergio had the superior structure by far but by showing up kinda flat and retaining water diminished his strengths.
Arnold was in shape and his lats have a thick, low drop to them as well as having the wicked biceps peaks. His conditioning was 20% better than Sergio's. I believe Arnold's posing flow and charisma locked in the win.
This video gives a clearer explanation on why Arnold won. I'm a believer now!
Arnie is defo, one of the biggest EVER, and he looks the best, and has the best body structure EVER, and look how thin his waist is, that has disapeared from modern day bodybuilding, tbh the black dude has a very good body and should of won in another year :)
@theecoteam I think Arnold was taken back by Sergio's mass...which he should have been.....Arnold was slightly more cut than Sergio....and I think that's why he got the nod for the title that year.....personally I thought it could have went either way and been happy even if Sergio won...and that's coming from a Arnold fan:)
@jessedabody Well, I'm not so much a Arnold fan when he was a BBer but I'm a fan of him as many other things. Though the whole Weider/Arnold realtionship kinda makes me wonder if some of the O's were fixed. ( Just wondering) Because some of these Arnold should of lost, but most he won with ease. But I d believe Arnold was right when he addmitted he should of lost this. Though Arnold will always be the greatest or atleast one of them, he was more cut and defined yeah, may be legit for sure.
@jessedabody they truly were superior at that time , i amnot saying this because of bias but because of what i see.
the old bodybuilders look like athletes and actually seem to be able to move in the scene whiel the new bbodybilders look barely like athletes and their condition seem not to reflect a athletes
@TheRogueMonk I f skin color was involved...Sergio never would have won if your hinting racism....remember Sergio was 3 time Mr O winner, and beat Arnold one of those times:)
@TheRogueMonk no i was talking about lighting and visual .. not racism . sometimes white looks bigger and sometimes otehr way arround , ia m not sure but i knwo it does affect sometimes.
@TheRogueMonk LOL Ok was just checking ....yes lighting can be everything...if you don't have good lighting you won't see the definition/cuts.......But I don't think that was the case here...Sergio's had the mass..but not all the cuts(my Opinion) Arnold s back ,quads and abs were slightly more cut than Sergio's and I think that's the only reason he got the nod that year...personal;ly I think it could of went either way and been happy...Sergio overwhelmed Arnold with shear muscle mass.
@TheRogueMonk regardless of skin color, sergio still looked bigger with darker skin.. darker skin shows more.. thats why bodybuilders with light skin tan and etc... but Sergio is always the king in my book.. that man is a beast!!!
@JCamacho123 Yates can't hold a candle to Sergio,or Arnold for that matter. His size came from gh,but only in his back and legs. His arms, chest and shoulders were way off the mark.
People need to understand that 70s bodybuilders didnt have this smaller size compared to today's bodybuilders because they wanted to, but rather because they didnt have the adequate knowledge to get any bigger than this. If they had the knowledge they definetly would be as big as today's pros.
@studywar LOL that's a good one....Sergio and Arnold trained for mass and symmetry ..........today's body Builders are all lats and legs...no chest or arms....and distended guts.....I will says Jay has become more balanced and focused to balance out is phys.(body parts)
@studywar the only knowledge is better drugs and the use of insulin and HGH in greater amounts then used in their time..Thats it, the genes are there but the science isn't.
Sergio is better.

this really wasnt a close contest actually...it was touted to be but arnie's conditioning and superior bodyparts really made it a no brainer. sergio was big, and had some killer bodyparts but he wasnt as near as complete or polished and was really lacking in certain areas.

@ManVsIron Firstly,Sergio presented fantastic poses.Double biceps,lat spreads,most muscular,his famous arms overhead pose.All dynamic and exciting.
He didn't go in for elaborate transitions between poses.
Posing is the icing on the cake but its the cake that really matters.

@jessedabody There actually was a draw once. Yvon and Pierre Brunet, twins, shared the Mr. Canada 1st place trophy one year.

Everyone also knows that Sergio should have won that year, Arnold knew that too, but the Weiders were going not having it.

Malik Jubal

1.25, my all time favourite pose by arnie. unlike body builders 2day his belly ddnt look bloated
Jeccidah 11 months ago
Arms Arnold(mainly cause of the peakiness in the bicep area, not overall size). Sergio Legs period. Arnold upper body definition. Sergio Upper body size. Sergio Back period.
So overall Sergio presented the better overall body on that stage. Arnold is the Legend no doubt but Sergio is the Myth. Bodybuilders today may look to Arnold but when they train they are searching for that total body symmetry that Sergio brought with the size he presented.
Remember this is just my personal opinion.

both of them 30 years ahead of the times, classic battle, till this day ,flip a coin, arnold has said , if he was a judge on this day, he would have picked sergio, . Arnold missed his peak, sergio was dialed in! pre judging had been held in a small area that did not help sergio's darker skin, where as arnold stood out. contest was held in essen germany ( arnold's back yard) .. remember reading sergio could have arrived on a bolt of lightning and still would of lost!

you all are forgeting one thing sergio is the only man to beat arnold on the olympia stage and the only man to rattle arnold cage of confidence
10winkler 1 year ago
Both men are simply incredible. Sergio was the original mass monster, with the greatest shoulder to waist ratio ever. Arnold was another incredible mass monster. On any given day either one could win the olympia. Genetically Sergio was far superior to Arnold. Chest, back, abs, thighs, calves, triceps, Sergio owned Arnold. Right bicep peak and conditioning, Arnold owned Sergio. As a bodybuilding fan, both men were simply one word. AWESOME.
lovingvegas71 1 year ago
@lovingvegas71 Disagree: Arnold had Sergio in the chest and calves....Sergio had wider lats, but Arnold had better back detail, Sergio's abs were not great, but he did have that tiny waist.

This is Bodybuilding. Not todays ugly science projects on stage.
The Greek God figure has gone and been replaced with over the top, HGH bloated belly madness.
BoxFreshNikes 1 year ago
Sergios mass with his small waist is awesome but over all arnold takes it. His bicep pose is second to none, his chest is sick and he's so dense and dry he looks like a statue. Darklander also has a point. Arnold barely looks like he has any oil on, sergio is dripping. The only Arnold victory I MIGHT question is 1980, but even then at worst he should have placed second.
tatemansfeet 1 year ago
@tatemansfeet I agree with your statements...except the 80....although Arnold not at his biggest or best...I still thought he brought enough to the table to edge out the others.
jessedabody 1 year ago
@tatemansfeet I tend to think that if Sergio competed at a lighter body weight and with more cuts then he'd have walked away with the title. Arnold learnt from his defeat by Frank Zane that biggest isnt necessarily best, a lesson Sergio never seemed to learn. I also think that Arnold reached a plateau in competition where noone could really beat him unless they could completely outclass him, a close contest would never be enough hence the 1980 victory. Sergio always had that potential though.
andrew7a 1 year ago
@andrew7a when did zane ever beat arnold? certainly not at any olympia

@jkc313007 no it want at an olympia....it was at an amateur contest in 1968 in miami i think...........arnold came second......zane first

50labs 1 year ago
To those that think Sergio is bigger and better, go read a little. Sergio is nowhere near as toned, nor as dry as Arnold here. And Arnold's oil is shitty, sergio looks soaked! Makes HUGE different in pics. This is a deserved and clean win, deal with it!
darklander81 1 year ago
@darklander81 LMFAO nobody said he was as ripped as Arnold here...that's what gave Arnold the edge...body building is all about illusion....Sergio's all though smaller height wise gave off the Illusion he was bigger because of his mass.....if Arnold knew this and thought he loss the contests...believe me I'm a pro Arnold guy.
jessedabody 1 year ago
@darklander81 The only bodybuilder in the history the sport that go into the Olympia slightly off was Lee Haney. If Haney showed up in 3 quarters of his best contest condition he'd still be light years ahead of the competition.
mbp7060 1 year ago
@mbp7060 Lmao......no way.
jessedabody 1 year ago
@jessedabody EVERYONE I've talked to who have seen Haney in person will say the exact same thing. Arnold is great but he was not head and shoulders above the rest. When Haney walked out on stage with the rest of the competition in the first Olympia he won, the contest was over before anyone hit a pose. When Arnold won his Olympias there are guys who thought they beat him and still think that but no one thought that about Haney, the contest was always for second place.
mbp7060 11 months ago
arnold took it with his crazy bis and thick chest and delts plus superior condition. he also had far superior calves and hams. sergio had him in chest and tris, and quad mass, plus the tiny waist. I think they got the judging right every time they went head to head.
rcaddict72 1 year ago
@rcaddict72 LOL Arnold had NO hamstrings...you must be out of your tiny mind.
Peter9761 1 year ago
@rcaddict72 I would have been happy either way...two all stars battling head to head...judging must of been hard that day because it could have went either way 4-3 Arnold...do you choose the guy with awesome mass all around with some cuts...or the guy with with better conditioning and not as massive......different times back then.

6capthowdy9 1 year ago
Arnold has a better looking chest with cuts and a higher biceps peek.
Sergio has a massive back and arms and just kills with any width type pose. Sergio also looks far bigger. The difference is in the definition. Sergio would be my pick if he lost a bit more body fat.
Arnolds chest is IMO what got him over the line so many times.
AAAngus1 1 year ago
@AAAngus1 thats the point though, Sergio wouldnt have had as much size if he lost the fat...also, sergio had a massive back, but only UPPER back.. his lower lats were a major hole in his physique

Arnold had the body but he also had persona and carisma that made him what he is.

anabolic95 1 year ago
If this competition would have been "the most massive man contest" then Sergio won but this is bodybuilding where being massive is just one thing among many other important things. Standing ,without flexing his muscles Arnold not as massive as Sergio indeed but when Arnold is posing his body get transfom to a huge massive spectacular giant and that's the point where he's massive.I'm sure to get this Arnold trained by higher reps for each muscle(pumping)and that's why his body was more ripped.

Grinta23 1 year ago
Wow, Arnold looks even more massive and rugged/raw than in Pumping Iron in this video from 3 years before. I've read that he was actually at his biggest and best the year before P.I. Would like to see video of the 1974 versus 1975 Mr. O to compare.
982Munchie 1 year ago
@982Munchie I've read somewhere that he was asked to loose mass for the film 'Stay Hungry', because he looked too big standing next to Sally Field. So that will have affected his look in Pumping Iron. I think, for the film, he dropped from (and I could be a little off) 235 lbs to 210. Or something like that.
fanofgemmell 1 year ago
look at the posing of these guys .. they did not shortcut nor did they stop and ruin their pose downs like the new bodybuilders.
the new bodybuilders keep ruining their own rutines with half done movements
TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
@TheRogueMonk I think it's apples and Oranges comparing posing routines....now symmetry is another story.....they had awesome symmetry back then and started to go south in the late 90's and 2000 and up .

avalanchelily 1 year ago
Sergio had the superior structure by far but by showing up kinda flat and retaining water diminished his strengths.
Arnold was in shape and his lats have a thick, low drop to them as well as having the wicked biceps peaks. His conditioning was 20% better than Sergio's. I believe Arnold's posing flow and charisma locked in the win.
This video gives a clearer explanation on why Arnold won. I'm a believer now!
kaizenro 1 year ago
Arnie is defo, one of the biggest EVER, and he looks the best, and has the best body structure EVER, and look how thin his waist is, that has disapeared from modern day bodybuilding, tbh the black dude has a very good body and should of won in another year :)
xXx00SLATERBOY00xXx 1 year ago
arnolds posing is much better but god sergio is massive.
TheBradTobin 1 year ago
Arnold even addmitted that Sergio should of won this, so we know who the real winner is.
theecoteam 1 year ago
@theecoteam I think Arnold was taken back by Sergio's mass...which he should have been.....Arnold was slightly more cut than Sergio....and I think that's why he got the nod for the title that year.....personally I thought it could have went either way and been happy even if Sergio won...and that's coming from a Arnold fan:)
jessedabody 1 year ago
@jessedabody Well, I'm not so much a Arnold fan when he was a BBer but I'm a fan of him as many other things. Though the whole Weider/Arnold realtionship kinda makes me wonder if some of the O's were fixed. ( Just wondering) Because some of these Arnold should of lost, but most he won with ease. But I d believe Arnold was right when he addmitted he should of lost this. Though Arnold will always be the greatest or atleast one of them, he was more cut and defined yeah, may be legit for sure.
theecoteam 1 year ago
@jessedabody they truly were superior at that time , i amnot saying this because of bias but because of what i see.
the old bodybuilders look like athletes and actually seem to be able to move in the scene whiel the new bbodybilders look barely like athletes and their condition seem not to reflect a athletes
TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
@jessedabody wow i didnt know anyone came close to arnold but sergio is my new hero! he truly looks olympian much like arnold and his little friend
TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
@theecoteam i also want to say that sometimes colour does make a difference since the skin colour often can affect how we precieve things.
sergio might have beat Arnold if his skin was same tone as Arnold , color do matter right? sometimes advantage sometimes not.
TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
@TheRogueMonk I f skin color was involved...Sergio never would have won if your hinting racism....remember Sergio was 3 time Mr O winner, and beat Arnold one of those times:)
jessedabody 1 year ago
@TheRogueMonk no i was talking about lighting and visual .. not racism . sometimes white looks bigger and sometimes otehr way arround , ia m not sure but i knwo it does affect sometimes.
TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
@TheRogueMonk LOL Ok was just checking ....yes lighting can be everything...if you don't have good lighting you won't see the definition/cuts.......But I don't think that was the case here...Sergio's had the mass..but not all the cuts(my Opinion) Arnold s back ,quads and abs were slightly more cut than Sergio's and I think that's the only reason he got the nod that year...personal;ly I think it could of went either way and been happy...Sergio overwhelmed Arnold with shear muscle mass.
jessedabody 1 year ago
@TheRogueMonk regardless of skin color, sergio still looked bigger with darker skin.. darker skin shows more.. thats why bodybuilders with light skin tan and etc... but Sergio is always the king in my book.. that man is a beast!!!

@JCamacho123 Yates can't hold a candle to Sergio,or Arnold for that matter. His size came from gh,but only in his back and legs. His arms, chest and shoulders were way off the mark.
Peter9761 1 year ago
@Peter9761 I agree size and balance...but Yates condition was superb Pete:)
jessedabody 1 year ago
People need to understand that 70s bodybuilders didnt have this smaller size compared to today's bodybuilders because they wanted to, but rather because they didnt have the adequate knowledge to get any bigger than this. If they had the knowledge they definetly would be as big as today's pros.
studywar 1 year ago
@studywar What knowledge are you referring to? Training or drugs (anabolic steroids, etc;)?
neilp77 1 year ago
@studywar Knowledge of what?
Its growth hormone that 70's bodybuilders didn't have, nothing else..except they didn't have distended guts.
Peter9761 1 year ago
@studywar LOL that's a good one....Sergio and Arnold trained for mass and symmetry ..........today's body Builders are all lats and legs...no chest or arms....and distended guts.....I will says Jay has become more balanced and focused to balance out is phys.(body parts)

@studywar the only knowledge is better drugs and the use of insulin and HGH in greater amounts then used in their time..Thats it, the genes are there but the science isn't.
