McCartney can now write melodies within his vocal range and find keys that suit him. However, his range has gone slightly (as you would expect) and he does struggle with some of the older songs he could sing at ease (like the high note in Hey Jude).

Yes, naturally a singer's range will go with age. This means that songs that were within range of a singer when it was originally written can be tough to sing as they get older. My point is that McCartney will now write tunes to fit his range perfectly (as with this great song). He is still incredibe, he just lacks range for some of his high notes that were written many years ago. Not a complaint, or a critical comment, just an observation.
