  • Can someone tell me what exactly this device is used for? I looked at the other vids, so I'm guessing it links with a remote rc plane? Are you controlling flight from your pc / viewing the plane's camera in real-time? If so, that is freaking awesome!!

  • @jjc032681 for fpv (first person view) use, they are used for recieving the video signal from the trasmitter that is connected to a camera, usually on the front of the plane, so that one can control the plane in real time, via video link, hooked up to some type of dsiplay. The tracker in the video has a directional patch antenna which only works good in a certain direction, hence the use of a pan tilt mechanism. The plane it'self is controlled via a transmitter/controller.

  • @thetableswillturn Ah..thank you.

  • What is the range between the ground tracking system and the gps aboard the plane? I know this helps the range for the camera system on the plane but in order for the tracking antenna to follow the plane the gps has to tell it where it is, how far can it do that? Thanks

  • Where can i find some info for a system like that?

very nice build by the way.

  • @on4vrt - Not sure if you're still interested, but I found a few solutions at fpvpilot -dot- com. You can also check out the Ardupilot project forums at diydrones -dot- com.
