hey cheri,

i bought a mac187 (hopefully authentic) on ebay, and i used it with my nars liquid foundation.. it shed black hairs on my face, then i realized that i should probably wash it before i use it.. so i washed it, and it shed like 15 black hairs. and it smells funny. i've read in some places that sometimes even new mac brushes do that, i guess if it's defective. do your 187 brushes ever shed? :(

The brush definitely shed a LITTLE when I first got it. In total, maybe 15 hairs since I've had it. The thing with makeup brushes is that you're only SUPPOSED to use the TIPS. So it could be that you're pressing too hard! Next time, try only applying your foundation with the white tips alone (don't press down until the black fibers touch your face). Hope that helps!

if you got the 187 on ebay it def might be fake. happened to me!! i had the same thing happen with the crazy shedding. and i noticed it just didn't work as well as everyone had raved. so i searched the net about ways to tell if your MAC brush is fake and sure enough it totally was. GRR! in doing my brush research i learned that A LOT of fake MAC are sold on ebay, so it's not something i'm willing to risk any longer. i FINALLY got a hold of the real deal 187 when MAC did their 25% off sale.

@lechatn0ir just to let u know 99% of all Mac brushes on ebay are fakes, unless u buy a used mac brush from someone who is seling their own brush. You do know that u are protected and can get your money back. Be careful with ebay, I've been doing business on ebay since 2001 and beleive me I know all about the fakes and garbage that is being sold on ebay. I did however find a seller who sells authentic high end brushes but she doesnt sell Mac, she does sell authentic Nars brushes,had mine tested
