  • "war crimes" those two words together do not make sense. How can their be rules of war while there are people fighting for survival?

  • @robbysharolaid i think these things sorta mean crimes against humanity e.g rape and slaughter of innocent civilians, fighting can be carried out as wanted.

  • @MrBoringcabbage hmm true. But still, it's a war which means anything can happen.

  • @robbysharolaid true too, but everyone has their limits and there is a fine line between war efforts and things like i said before which go under war crimes

  • Wermacht were badass. If it wasnt for russia having endless lives at there disposal we would all be speaking german.

  • if only the Germans had a big device that could just blow up the entire city make it a lot easier for them

  • You gotta love the Infanterie-Regiment 577.

  • @knight0Farabia07 I really don't give a fuck, you know?

  • Great footage. Russian footage is almost ALWAYS staged. Its mostly like this: You have Russian soldiers running forward amid planted explosions firing their weapons led by a heroic-like commissar. Footage taken in parts of the city in which no fighting is actually taking place. Its all staged. Even their still photographs are almost always staged and in the same general manner.

  • why this canal was blocade for poland ??

  • @some2guy For Italy too....:(

  • Interesting where is the "Wochenschau" from Stalingrad about Feb 1943?

  • @BulgAryan1982

  • Dude Great video! This is the first ever WWII Footage ive seen with sound, If only it was in color, But i cant complain. Great Video. Im Subbing. :D

  • @666failure666 You are a fucking retard... There is something called conscription .. They didn't go to war for adventure.

    retard.

  • Im Russian i dont kno why other Allies like British and Americans dont respect us for fighting the germans, i respect them so much especially the British

  • @TR3Y4LI4E Stop generalizing .... Im American and I specially know how much the soviets died to beat the germans.

  • @TR3Y4LI4E Because we should have joined the Germans in defeating your Jew created Bolshevik government.

  • Russians died so we may live

  • They died that we live...

  • I really appreciate the camera crew for their brave filmtaking of all these combat scenes.

  • Germans took most of the city but never Pavlov's House. Respect to Yakov Pavlov, Lieutenant Ivan F. Afanasiev and the entire platoon!

  • German panzer was ordered by Hitler to halt so the german infantry was able to catch up with them.

  • Lucky for us Guderian didnt manage the german attack or else german panzer would have defeated russia before winter.

  • Wow, the Germans really blew it by engaging the Russians at STalingrad. They should have just set up artillery outside of town and used their troops to protect their flanks and supply lines. Or they should have just bypassed it and went to Moscow.

  • what i would do to be able to go back in time and witness this

  • anywhere at that pictures could be my uncle, he is misses since Nov the 13th...lost anywhere in that hell.....they found him 55 years later...some parts of his body are now bedded in Rososchka...with his friends and mates- and thousands of others died in that Hell...May god forgive

  • Yeah the Russians had bigger balls for sure, but not near enough ammo or weapons. That is where Hitler screwed up, If he hadn't tried to take Russia the war may have lasted longer but eventually won by the Allied forces. The Germans were scared as hell to be captured by a Russian. Hitler showed his true self by commanding the public to fight or be shot while he stayed in his bunker then took the coward way out, but lots of people still think he was great? He lost everything.

  • @rrussell39 Yea he lost everything, But he also Accomplished near everything. Although he lost everything in the end, We shouldnt ignore that He Became so incredibly powerful by himself without anyones help. Some would say he toke the route of a God to triumph like that.

  • Glory to the red army, about 50,000 red army soldiers held their ground in Stalingrad. The mighty german sixth army was never able to take the entire city. This allowed the russians to assemble a huge army which eventually encircled the axis invaders within the city.

  • You watch these films and wonder how many of these poor guys....both sides...lived to see the next day.

  • i still dont believe hitler could have rised if the u.s didnt help france england and soviet union step on germany it would have ended soon before the u.s joined in because the sides where pretty much equal and if you read enough you will figure out the economy of germany was crushed because the u.s helped the allies in ww1

  • @chrissjg ehhh you cant blame the u.s. for ww2 there was alot of things that provoked it...

  • thx for the video.

  • can any one translate the commentry in english plz...........

  • why don't you just learn German ?

  • @Nebelwerfer89 for one video!!!

    no thank you :)

  • the Russian guns are crap. but they could function better in the cold because as gun lube was a mixture of oil and gasoline while the Germans used oil only. in sub zero temperatures, oil will solidify making it harder to work the actions. while the gas oil mix stays in a liquid like state

  • What a silly comment. Thought people watched these newsreels out of historical interests, clearly you are looking for something senstaional, watch X factor instead

  • isnt germany now the 4th richest country in the world?

  • @dat90304 nah... like the 8th or 9th.

  • @dat90304 i wouldnt doubt it if they were they are so technologically advanced that its not even funny anymore

  • Street fighting is insanity for any army. Lay siege to the city and starve them into submission.

  • rmkt2 >> YES, in the short term maybe. But in the long term you are not winning any war by simply encircling enemy cities.

  • Hitler should have learned from the mistakes of napoleon ? Is it true that the reason the russian weaponery didn't jam because they used aniseed or parafin ? I'm not sure ?

  • lol hahaha how you do that

  • The whole point was to cut off the Soviet river traffic on the Volga. This had been done in Sept. Therefore the whole battle was pointless.

  • I always thought the same, what would have happened if the Germans would just have encircled the city and cut it off from supplies and avoiding a house to house fight in the rubble?

  • Hitler should have just went around the city ..incircle it and cut it off...far better idea, if he could.

  • first, hitler should have studied the terrain to see the vast coldness it beheld, because he lost around 80,000 soldiers from freezing to death.2nd i dont think they should have bombed the heck out of stalingrad, that just gave the russians more hiding spots and places to get smuggled in.third he shouldnt of faught to the last man and then just pulling out of stalingrad,he should of pulled back waves that were damaged and send in different waves.

  • Well, Hitler was good at some things, but military strategy was not one of them. If he would just had left the generals make decisions instead of getting in their way, changing orders and removing commanders just because they didn't agree with his vision of reality, things would have been much better for the germans.

  • Stalin fucked your nazi-american ass

  • November in Russia. This were the Time to Retreat and wait for Spring. Then they should have attacked them again.

  • thnx for the subtitles

  • that was a filthie war

  • you can tell its from a german newsreel. it seems to be very pro german.

  • were bad ass!

  • Alot of people don't understand or realize, that the Germans in the beginning of the war had inferior tanks. When they came up against the t-34 or KV-1, they were STOPPED! Only the superior tactics and superior training overcame these Vehicles. Even when the JS-1 appeared and the 88MM was ineffective even at 1000m the German tactics were easily adjusted to defeat them. The Russians and Allies just simply produces more men and tanks than Germany had ammunition to kill.

  • i agree that the russians had insanely huge manpower. and many they didnt give a damn about sending soldiers to battle in futile attemps after futile attempt. but britain and the us were different. remember the uk held off germany for one year all by itself. and the americans fought bravely since the breaching of "festung Europa". the t-34 was a nice tank but the russians sucked ass as a result of stalin literally beheading the red army prior to barbarossa.

  • german tanks were beyond ours. tigers panthers and even early panzers beat shermans and such in tank battles

  • by forces you mean numbers ofc

  • the waffen-ss divisions shouldve invaded stalingrad.

  • they wouldve suffered the same fate like the wehrmacht. russians were pumped back then.

  • russians were losing battlle after battle to the wehrmacht. the russian winter was what crippled the Wehrmacht

  • True, but the other thing was, germany was vastly out numbered and out of resources towards the end of the war.

  • yea operation babarossa was a big blow to germany and basically turned the tide to the Allies

  • Stalled them, not crippled them. Because the Germans were stalled, it allowed for Russian supplies/gear/weapons/tanks/planes to be mass produced while the Luftwaffe was grounded.

  • no it killed of many of the poor dressed troops. they pushed hundreds of miles into the USSR winning battle after battle and it was expected to be won b4 the harsh winter. but it came and it cripped the wehrmacht forces on the eastern front

  • the main enemy of the germans was the weather, not fighting capability, even though hitler was too stubourn to let his generals do a little talking.

  • @yunggunz31 Yeah, I've heard that bullshit before. Russian winter drove the Germans all the way to Berlin and made Hitler poison himself (sarcasm off).

  • All German armies should have left Russia alone. If Hitler didn't invade Russia, and he listened to his commanders, he would have won that war.

  • i completely agree. but i think the elite waffen ss divisions couldve cleaned out most of the USSR n4 winter. im not saying the Wehrmacht were inferior to the ss but i just think the ss couldve done a better job and the the wehrmacht couldve fought against allied forces

  • the waffenss had a reputation of holding the line while the wehrmacht did more tactical withdrawing. i personally think its due to the indoctrinaction of waffenss....after all they were supposed to be elite....young and unmarried they fought with skill. 17th ss division gott von berlichingen tho took HEAVY casualties when they encountered the allies the days following D-Day. i say in this war...every man tried hard to be at their best...and i think that's honorable.

  • Edit By Hollywood Sound Maker. It that Real Gun Sound?

  • sounds like it... they even have the plane sounds.

  • Why Do Hiter Attack Arab Their Got Oil. Why Do Hitler Attack AFRICA Size land Bigger Russian.

  • Why Do you speak gibberish

  • wHy Do yOu WrItE WiTh CApITol

  • Die Deutsche!!! xD

  • this...........FUCKIN PWNS

  • excellent footage, ive been looking for something like this

  • need translation...

  • Every building is a fortress in itself equipped with machine guns and artillery. Despite these odds inch by inch is conquered in these vast ruins which the Soviets have transformed into multi tiered defensive works. Captured Bolsheviks which were apprehended in cellars and bunkers are led out of the battlefield. The bloody casualties of the enemy are comparatively higher than the number of captured Soviets, meaning that most Soviets are fighting to the death instead of capitulating.

  • Translation:

The battle of Stalingrad. Shelling the gun factory Red Barricade in the north of the city. STUKA planes attack enemy artillery units between the factory buildings. The infantry charges forward across the debris and piles of rubble and penetrates ever deeper into the gun factory. These men are the fighters of Stalingrad. For weeks they have been fighting house to house combat. Behind every pile of stones enemy snipers could lurk.

  • thanks!

  • Entschuldigung, sehr geehrt Utube-Kollege, aber das "Geschütz-werk" nicht "gun factory", sondern "befestiger Abschnitt" ist

  • @hirundoarchipirata the luftwaffe wasnt used in the battle of stalingrad the red soviet animals employed a tactic to fight the enemy at close ranges meaning if the luftwaffe attacked it will hit their own men while targeting the enemy. which rendered the luftwaffe useless. if this dident happen the germans wouldve won this no doubt

  • @knight0Farabia07 Go back in your corner, brown fuck.

Btw, Napoleon even conquered Moscow, but lost in the long run.

What makes you think that Hitler could have won? Stalingrad was without any strategical use + the soviets could escape behind the Urals any time.

  • @hirundoarchipirata Ah I see, youre arabian. You know how popular you people are here in germany? So popular that a guy named "Sarrazin" writes a book about how to deport all islam-people from germany because they are of less biological value and that they reduce the nations IQ by having more children than germans. And he was #1 in the bookcharts, haha.

So continue to be a nazi and to support nazis =) Not everyone who is against jews, is your friend, pal!

    Fucking nazi scum.

  • arabs aren't all muslim you moron

  • @Cryptnox yeah keep spitting that bullshit and explain me how did the soviets lost dozens of millions of troops to the tiny german army, fuck you

  • @knight0Farabia07

First rule in soviet club: Human life means NOTHING in soviet club.

Second rule in soviet club: HUMAN LIFES MEANS NOTHING IN SOVIET CLUB!

The guys which were send to the front would end up in Gulags anyway. Have you any idea how many people Stalin killed?

  • @Cryptnox i have only one word for you, one word -capitalist asshole

  • @knight0Farabia07 In fact the huge numbers were perfect for Stalin! Thats why Churchill and America gave him half of europe! Not a bad trade, huh?

Get rid of overpopulation + get half of europe and half of germany as a present.

The soviet union had 300 million. 20 million + or - doesn't make a big difference. It's cheaper than invest many effort and money into defense.

  • @knight0Farabia07 And last bot not least, great amounts of troops were standing near the border, ready to attack. Stalin would have attacked germany in July 41. The soviet troops were in offensive mode, not defensive. Hitler did surprise Stalin. The biggest succeses were made in the first 6 months. Then it slowed dow - until the Red striked back.

  • @Cryptnox the red striked back and still lost enormous numbers. look at stalingrad, kursk, if the germans put their focus on russia they would have wiped it off the map in 2 years, in a few weeks the germans were in the outskirts of moscow even though they had their army separated.

crawl back to your hole. dumbass

  • Comment removed

  • @Cryptnox yes russians strike back, but if they were the same number of german units, they would lose the war.

  • @desetnik15second You're right. Stalin treated russians very very bad and killed a lot of them. So they weren't very motivated. Nazis on the other hand loved their Fuhrer! Soviets won the war by numbers, material and by technology - not by motivation, skills and discipline.

  • @Cryptnox That is true. But neither Hitler or Stalin were good, Hitler instead of killing jews and spending time and money on poison gas chambers and does crimes he could give more stuff to the soldiers , they wouldn't get such bad reputation if there weren't those war crimes.

  • @Cryptnox Not all the way true. A huge ego booster during the war was "Za Stalina!". There was a mix between the two. Those who loved Stalin and those who didn't care for him. That's why they had blocking detachments. :P

  • @hirundoarchipirata If Stalin didn't kill his best generals etc and prepared defences all these sacrefices wouldn't be necessary.

  • I can't imagine this battle or the battle of Moscow for that matter. The fact that losses on both sides are counted with "Million" in the number absolutely boggles my mind. The loss of life is absolutely astonishing---for one battle, for one city. Must have been a death sentence for anyone shipped to the front there.

  • not quite, but according to statistics only 1 in 10 russian footsoldiers survived the battle of Stalingrad

  • the video is old nazi propaganda shown to citizens of Germany during war. The fact is that when you make any propaganda you want to hide ngative things and make positive ones look brighter. All participant countries shot made their own propaganda movies and all of them shew professional and succssful units.

I'm not here to judge German army, in any way they were/are people too, even though they were brainwashed by a drug-addicted freak, who praised facism and sacred role of a nation

  • really great movie... i think these fights outside stalingrad ...

  • Well, without a doubt, at that time, German troops were the best in the world, hands down. Americans, British, French, and Russians are lucky as hell that Hitler was in charge and didnt allow his generals to make military decisions.

  • German troops were not the best in the world. Germany and its allies failed to take Russia during Operation Barbarossa. I would say the Russian military was the best in the world during ww2 because of the amount of suffering they had to endure, the amount of tanks, planes, artillery pieces, and soldiers recruited each month. The Russians deserve most of the credit.

  • No way,did you also know that every country that was "LIBERATED" by russia, their people were sent to Siberia and the woman were raped,so f off

  • wow...are there any guys braver than the ones filming this shit? A mere feet away from the shelling! This is the only battle, i wish the Reich would have won...pounding those russian rapists to a pulp, but 2 winters knocked the germans back, until winter, the Reich had the Russians on their knees. Great video!

  • even in they did win it wouldve been a pyrrhic victory anyway considering how many soldiers perished. and besides who would even want to bother occupying european russia, there is way too much of it.

  • they were trained for Blitzkreig not urban guerilla warfare

  • no war since compares, not even vietnam nor korea. this was real war.

  • great footage

Respect and lets remember both sides they both fighted for theyr ideas and countrys

    Respect!

  • Well, great footage....BUT there is NO motherland except the earth you walk on with everyone else. If this awful battle which was fought in such a terrible war is to have meaning for those who lost their loved ones or their lives, then we must honor their memory by demonstrating that we have PHUCKING EVOLVED. Reading some of the comments listed below is evidence that sadly, we haven't.

  • wow i couldnt find his comment but like im learnin more bout ww2 in history if that wat he said about video games and fighting bein the same thing well some one needs to get there brains checked becuz seriously thats low to think there the same im guessin he is talkin about cod 5 waw yes ive played that game and yes u learn alot but no they are definately not the same like even if u watch the raw footage they use u shud feel sick in ur stomach and yea like metzger said it shud be reconizded

  • "Nov 1942" above the vid - info on the right side: "Oct 1942"?

  • wow didnt notice that but maybe when they reliesed it but maybe

  • as stated before back then you couldn't just post a vid on youtube in 10 mins ^.^

  • Good footage, unfortunate that so many neo-nazi's are commenting here.

  • indeed, what a bunch of low-lifes

  • can anyone tell me what stalingrad and leningrad are now called?

  • Leningrad = St. Petersburg

    Stalingrad = Volgograd

  • Stalingrad was changed to volgograd during the de-stalinization of the SU

and the people of St Petersburg voted for it to be returned to its name before WW1 after the Soviet Union collapsed

  • stalingrad -massengrab

  • The germans maybe should have bypassed Stalingrad and focused on taking the oilfields and then lured the soviets out into the open plains for a type of battle that the Germans ruled supreme.

  • What a terrible place, the Germans should of had assault rifles that the Waffen SS, Fallschirmjager & landers all asked for but hitler was fixated on heavy weapons, the sturmwehr44 may of saved them.

Best never to have gone into such a city in the first place.

    Blastforyou is right well said.

  • Yeah but you miss the point here... The Germans should never have ventured as far as Stalingrad. The plan was far-ambitious; supply lines were stretched too long, and so was the front line. He had the best army in the world and he wasted it. His greed and fanaticism eventually brought about his downfall.

  • Therez no doubt they were really brave.

  • totally agreed

  • German Soldiers the best in the world.

  • They were the best.

  • Those soldiers who where shoting around a corner just before the third minute in the video looked like they just where some boys out for a hunt in the forest for the first time. Cute.

  • They are young but clearly hardened veterans.

  • Yep, no doubt about that.

  • Here is some combat with the freaking guerrillas

  • Dude, this is a propaganda newsreel, some of the footage was staged (in relative safety) as they wouldn't have risked having the film crew mowed down if the enemy had suddenly opened fire! They would be sitting ducks.

  • the "film crews" (kriegsberichterstatter) were in the first row, the fights are not arranged. a lot of them died in battle while taking pictures and movies.

  • mass grave

  • SCHADE!

  • If sixth army was under the command of Manstein (and not Paulus), Soviets would never had the chance to resist

  • if the Germans didn't blow the city to smithereens they probably could have taken it.........

  • A few days before the battle for Stalingrad, the Soviets attacked the troop concentration of Germans poised to attack the city. They attacked with some 17 division but did not know the Germans had some 70 divisions staged. All 17 Soviet divisions,,were destroyed!

  • Terrible,17 versus 70...

Do you know the name of battle? Thanks.

  • My grandad was in that battle.

  • Terrific

  • Excelent!!

  • very good

  • 5 *****
