  • Fuck yes!

  • 鬼才!!!

  • stops at 5:37 ?

  • Ohhh 421 on vocals? I would say that was odd, except for the fact that they're in at a radio station :P

  • Ton song is 11:11 long. And my wish is to listen to your voice forever.

  • @annagant7 Lots my friend. The Acorn, Ohbijou, Great Lake Swimmers, Joel Plaskett, The Weakerthans, Sarah Harmer... And for something a little more rock & roll - Said the Whale, The Sadies, Yukon Blonde, and Zeus (my favourite band these days). Hope that helped :)

  • THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT

I don't care for the ppl who dissect or add negative comments. Its a pity they don't understand good music and I wonder why they even bother...

Just appreciate beautiful music or you go watch the tons of pointless shit ppl are uploading in the name of entertainment.

  • i love ur style but u bit to hard from sirur ros an any one that reading this check them out yull b blown away

  • Have to say, I agree with @isocrate27 there is a definate over produced quality to this recording. I feel like the vocal performance would be quite poor if it were to be without it.

  • @bubsadoozy Listen to the Q tv recording of Beijing and you will see that you are both wrong, Patrick has phenomenal vocals, the piano and percussion both make the song, it is amazing, and in my opinion preferred, without the reverb and all that jazz.

  • @kingericio I have seen that version and I do agree with you. I was just talking about this version however. There is undoubtably an overproduced sound to it and it's barely worth listening to compared to the QTV version.

  • yeah. great! perferctly! From Canada with russian soul.

  • Good sounds keep it up

  • Remove all the effects: reverb, delays, compression, limiter and this is the most empty song you ever heard. What you really listening to are transistors, not musicians.

  • @isocrate27 I disagree that what you say would be true.. partly because it's easy to tell good music regardless of production, in my opinion; be it overproduction or no production. Also, there are 3 songs in this vid; how would you know that they don't sound good with effects if you only heard one?

  • @isocrate27 I hope you understand how many musicians use reverb, compression, or delays. Whether you like it or not, those three effects will always be a part of music. Sometimes it's not about the tools you use to achieve a certain sound, but the ability to take an idea, concept, or vision and translate it into tasteful music that makes you an excellent musician. You need to watch some more of their videos and educate yourself. And may I ask, what grand music do you listen to?

  • @isocrate27 Not to mention there's a ton of videos on here that they're not even plugged in to anything and they still sound fantastic.

  • why do hipsters always wear stupid hats?

  • Is there an mp3 version of this recording? Absolutely beautiful.

  • indeed, they're such a talented and original bunch of musicians. I love it!

  • they make me drool... music is powerfull and happy/melancholic, and they are so good looking with their beards and cartoon-alike clothes, delicious!

  • cage... God

  • Can anyone tell me the brand of the slide guitar that is played during the second song?

  • Can anyone tell me the brand of the slide guitar the guitarist is playing during Big Bird In A Cage? I'd be really interested to see how much they go for.

  • That's why I donate to NPR it's worth every penny.

  • I'm really enchanted by his incredible voice his piano touch, and of course the drumer is genuis, the guitarist too, the sounds are all virgin, seems like they come from heaven! GREAT TALENT...

  • Isn't it called 'Big Bird in a Small Cage? (the description says 'Big Bird in a Small World')

  • CANADA MADE <3

  • CBC!

  • Gee....I don't know what to say.... I wanna move to Montreal and stalk him! Lol..... Absolutely magical!!!

  • look up to build a house... u'll recognise it from a schweppes ad

  • I love the fact he's wearing a CBC shirt!

  • Amazing.

    I Love them!!!

  • this sounds like Jeff Buckley

  • Patrick Watson and his ilk are pioneers of music. I've heard all flavours and his music speaks volumes for creativity and innovation in an era where music finds itself at odds with its past - unable to forge a unique identity with such an influential ancestry.

  • Patrick you ROCK!!!!!! Saw you at Speilgletent in Sydney on sunday night - brilliant!

  • OH HELL NO.

    this shit is gold.

  • This guy is an apsolutly amazing musician! check out our music there will be a better recording done in 3-5 days.

  • @UndustedDaband absolutely.

  • @sireel Wow you must be out of your mind ! This thing is crazy good ! Probably my favorite album of 2009. I would be curious to know what you consider like good music nowadays.

  • Sounds like Jack Conte.

  • Vice versa

  • Actually I was thinking he sounds just like the singer from Coldplay

  • i think his voice is actually slightly better...

  • in my opinion....alot better. and i think overall., more talented...in my opinion

  • i was referring to someone saying he sounds like chris martin... i think this is brilliance... the voice, harmonics and percussion is all unique

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds a little like Radio Head meets Super Tramp.

  • The name of the song is bog bird in a small cage. Not big bird in a small world... But anyway, this man is crazy :)

  • love the CBC t-shirt

  • theres nothing else like this out there. its like modern day debussy mixed with percussion chamber music... its like... chamber pop....please come to texas!

  • 01:01 just beautiful

  • Mind Blowing

  • drummer dude was rockin it!!

  • I love that Patrick is getting the recognition he deserves. It's a hobby of mine to follow underground Canadian artists, they're really amazing. Canada has some of the best music in the world and I hope all of these great artists to get recognized. It's about time America starts to realize what REAL music is. I wish you the best of luck Patrick, you're truly a brilliant musician.

  • @brianwildemusic

although I agree that Canada is producing some great artists, I wouldn't say Americans don't know what real music is. I saw Patrick play in LA recently and everyone seemed to appreciate him.... a lot.

  • @brianwildemusic What other underground Canadian artists would you recommend?

  • @brianwildemusic I'm also curious of what other underground artists you like. A hobby of mine is looking for great underground artists :)

  • @brianwildemusic Do you happen to have a blog where you showcase them? I would be super interested in underground Canadian music lovely like this.

    case and point.

    one correction: dude's.

    plural

  • Holy crap...that was amazing!

I'm gonna listen to it again...just as soon as I refill my wine.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Fantastic versions of these songs. Patrick's voice seems kind of hushed in the album by comparison, but it's really mesmerizing in this an some other videos I've seen when it plays a more prominent role in the mix.

  • love the CBC t-shirt!

  • Warning: listening to Patrick is addicting.

  • what a performance... uau!

  • Fodido demais.

  • Maaaan he's fuckin amazing. :)

  • Not to be picky, but there isn't a snare drum there; it's a tom drum.

    Great video though.

  • Everything above: ditto ditto ditto! Far reaching music!!!

  • Their tour bus should say "Patrick Watson: This Way To Awesomeness" ... I'm in love with this music. First time in at least three years I went out and BOUGHT a CD (and I own a record label lol)

  • Patrick is incredible! His band is amazing! They put on a great live show.

  • I am just just discovering PW. Wow what a powerfull creative genius. I've been listening music from way back in my early teens (I'm 50) and have heard alot from Gentle Giant to Radiohead passing by Joe Jackson and Pat Metheny. PW is an exceptional talent that makes us Montrealers proud!

    Stay true to yourself Pat!

  • so true!

  • the only one whose standing is the drummer.....
