Western civilization brought philosophy and mathematicians that displaced mysticism!?!? The Mayans were some of the greatest mathematicians and astrologists of their time! Europeans didn't even have the concept of 0 and believed the earth was flat at the time. Read A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies by Bartolome de las Casas. Anybody who believes Columbus should be celebrated after reading that book is simply insane. A first hand account, by a Christian priest, none of this new age crap that portrays Columbus like an angel, but real historical evidence.
