Really neat project, but you really should start with adding some basic bike safety reflectors and lights: reflectors white front, red rear, orange pedals & wheels + white front & red rear light. It is pointless driving with that vest without seeing where you are going and without being seen. You are like a ghost biker with a number on your back.
You should add turn signals, I saw a lady on Instructables or Make magazine with a bike vest that she could hit a switch on her glove and it would activate the turn signals... that would be probably pretty easy for you
