This is really good. Seen a few covers of this before but this retains so much of what made the song great. Great instrumental technique. Young lady on vocals is fab but be careful of diction some words were getting a little slurred which is easily done when monitoring though headphones. Great stuff.
Just found this. I had the Chaka Khan version on tape as a kid. This is obviously a different version, but I like this just as much. An excellent version. I like how on all your videos we see the whole process. Well done, this made my night.
great sound, great playing, and you have a nice cool voice however the high parts that Chaka Khan belts you do in falsetto (that's why it's so effortless).....but it doesn't have the edge that the song requires but through practice you should be able to do it too.....keep it up!

Everything was excellent, but there was a note a 2:47 that she sang that sounded off pitch. Maybe something in the harmony threw her off. You guys have a pro setup. Pretty much a right on performance.

Hey man, nice video. Far better than the original (my opinion). I have a question. Do you reccomend the MOTU Ultralite Mk3 Audio Interface? Im planning on getting it, and wondering whats your opinion on this audio interface?
@Yura1496 Thank you! Ultralite mic preamp is good enough for me for this kind of recording. I imagine using a tube preamp connected to the Ultralite would be better. As a general audio interface, it is great. It also wins in portability. You do need a good Firewire chipset (Texas Instruments-made is safest).
Very sweet voice. But with this song, I didn't feel the passion that this song has! She was just singing it, reading the lyrics, but not Really Feeling it!

This is really awesome!!! How did you sync the video feed to your DAW? I'm using Cubase..I tried Reaper but I still can't figure it out...Btw, is that an MXL 990? What preamp are you using? Please help a fellow musician here. All the best!
@jamestakeshi Thanks!! I didn't feed the video to the DAW. I synced audio + video visually in Premiere (move the video around until they look synced - really not as hard as it may seem). Yes it's a 990 connected to MOTU Ultralite mic preamp input.
@cinupina Really?? I've always thought that syncing video that way could be a headache..Btw, are you using any VST? Or is your keyboard doing all the instrumentations? nicely done! quite amazing... vocal is too sweet but she's got nice voice, maybe she can do better in Norah Jones songs... but I really like this video... LOVE IT! really nice work! Keep it up n keep posting :) !!

really nice voice with great control...too sweet to cover a Chaka Khan song...an Aaliyah or Celine Dion is more suited for her...she doesn't have the soul in her voice like Chaka has.

This is really awesome!!! How did you sync the video feed to your DAW? I'm using Cubase..I tried Reaper but I still can't figure it out...Btw, is that an MXL 990? What preamp are you using? Please help a fellow musician here. All the best!

@jamestakeshi Thanks!! I didn't feed the video to the DAW. I synced audio + video visually in Premiere (move the video around until they look synced - really not as hard as it may seem). Yes it's a 990 connected to MOTU Ultralite mic preamp input.

@cinupina Really?? I've always thought that syncing video that way could be a headache..Btw, are you using any VST? Or is your keyboard doing all the instrumentations? I really envy your musicianship! Did you play this by ear? I have not seen any music sheets.. Sorry for all the questions. I'm a starting musician and would like some assistance. Hope you understand. I usually don't like any remakes of Chaka songs because it's just impossible to match her incredible voice, but girl you hit the mark on this one... and this is coming from one of Chaka's biggest fans as you can tell by my user name. I have listened to your version about ten times tonight... Beautiful!!!
