I've seen so many off-road adventures have this outcome because of just street tires. I had a 98 sport X and I know they won't get through anything with street tires. But take off the steps, add a torsion adjust, shackle lift, change the shocks, and add at least all terrains. After that I was pulling my friends Sahara out of the mud and going right back through the spot he got stuck in.

I have seen cherokees and explorers both off road and with similar upgrades they perform pretty much the same off road.
