@draganbosanac007 How would that work logistically? Can you imagine 200+ seats shooting up in the air at the same time, some people would collide mid air, some parachutes would tangle, I mean you could save about 1/10th of the people.
even disregarding the reported explosion am i meant to believe that a fully qualified commercial airline pilot stamped full rudder left and right continually like some amature with no idea what he is doing?
@MrGoldenSilence - It's called Pilot Induced Oscillation, and it can even catch out experienced pilots. You need to realise what it is, resist your impulses and centre the rudder until the plane stabilises.
a couple of days ago i was coming from india and scince thers a lot of rain rite now thers alot of turbulance so during the flight the plane dropped for at least 5 second everybody was screaming and u could feel ur body rising
ever since I was a child I always thought there was something we could do to increase our chances of survival is there is wing / tail or engine damage. Not an aviation expert here--first to admit it, just always thought (at-least by now) we'd have some form of plan-b with a jet
This wasn't a plane crash. There was an explosion on the plane. Multiple pilots came out in the months afterward and stated that if they believed their manual rudder inputs could take down a commercial jet, and force the tail of the plane to completely detach itself, they would never fly one again. Over 100 witnesses on the ground saw an explosion on the plane and were never interviewed for the NTSB investigation. Richard Reid was not the first shoe bomber.
@exosandman No, I'm not stupid. I'm merely stating that the NTSB's investigation of this crash was extremely secretive, and several pilots who have flown the Airbus A300 stated in the days after the NTSB released their final report, that if their inputs could actually force the tail stabilizer and both engines to detach from the plane, they would never set foot in the cockpit again. Would you get on a plane knowing that if the pilot gave too much rudder, everyone would die? I wouldnt.
@exosandman No, I'm not stupid. Would you get on a plane knowing that if the pilot gave too much rudder, everyone would die? I wouldnt.
@fatthand9 - You have actual evidence of this? An inflight breakup can look to uninformed onlookers like an explosion. Bomb detonation would have left traces of explosive residue - NTSB investigators would have looked for this rather than trusting even 500 mug punters on the ground.
The chances of dying in a... Plane 1 in 675,638 - Bus 1 in 345,839 - Train 1 in 234,894 - Car 1 in 5,231 - Boat 1 in 3,589... Hopes this makes people feel better!
How could a pilot make such a stupid mistake??? Are they not trained for thousands of hours? Do they not fly for thousands more until certified? Totally stupid & tragic
@ThamMalaysia 100% correct. I live a quarter mile from where this plane crashed. There was an explosion in the air. A guy working on the roof of the house next door to me that day actually broke his leg when he fell off the roof, because he said a plane exploded in mid air and he though it would land on him. Neither he, nor any of over 100 witnesses in the area were ever interviewed by the NTSB. Investigators came to my house and removed debris without asking a single question.
" ..... more than ten seconds before any rudder movements, the 587 pilots were fighting to regain control of the aircraft for reasons that remain unknown: a still-to-be investigated technical failure, or possibly a terrorist bomb. " " Ninety per cent of the witnesses who saw the plane from the ground said they saw smoke or fire billowing from it before the tail and rudder fell off. "
Wow want an idiot pilot, he kept putting full rudder..........im only 13 but i would know not to go full rudder i mean omg all that stress back and forth.....idot he cause crash!
@fataslin Wasn't their fault. AA actually trained them to use the rudder extensively to get out of wake turbulence. On this flight, they weren't fighting wake turbulence, they were fighting their own plane.
@1Bullet2Ki11s Like I said, I can't imagine what those G-forces must have felt like. Your body is basically a water balloon, so most people literally "POP" and turn into insta-goo when that many forces are applied.
Check out the Swiss Air crash if you want to know about crazy G forces, I estimated a 620,000 lbs plane does 350 positive Gs would make the plane weight around 2 billion plus pounds.
i lost my father, mi baby sister, n her mutha on tht plane n i was 8 yrs old nd now im 18 rip to thm november 12,2001 its gonna be the 9th anniversary i luv u guys u'll will be missed but never forgotton
That is why there are so many people afraid of flying, after all, it's just a chunk of metal they're sitting on. And only make use of engines to make them fly, if the engine is down, so is the whole plane.
@datunique100 my sincere condolences my brother...my entire family was almost wiped out in an airline crash and I thank god everyday for keeping them safe. I do not know what it is like to loose a family member, but if I ever do, I pray to god to give me the strength to be as strong as you and pull through life, no matter the adversity.
@ReeferBuddy < honestlty, your really lucky to have them. i never thought i could be strong about something so drastic like that:( thanks for the embrace.
@beatchildproductions driving has its own risks...just because your not a drunk driver does'nt mean other people on the road are not....alot of the problems caused during flight is during the take off and landing....but turbulence also does play into it
Flight attendants are there to make us feel normal. Without them people would realize the insanity of it all - stuck in a metal tube high above the ground.
this is why i dont fly anymore, its stupid to put your life in the hands of someone else...it may be more dangerous to drive, but if i die driving at least i was in control of the situation.
@kioplo When you drive, you're putting your life in the hands of other drivers. These drivers could be drunk, or talking on the cell phone, or trying to control their kids in the back seat...few drivers appreciate the need to stay focused on the road.
Im no pilot, but if an aircraft banks, how come he used rudder instead of ailerons? the rudder I thought controlled yaw and ailerons controlled bank. Sad a lot of people died.
I'm not a pilot either, but from my experience driving car, the hard adjustments and trying to fight turbulence is usually what leads to disaster.
Personally if I were the pilot, I would have not used the rudder at all and I would have not steered and just let the plane follow the flow of the turbulence.
This crash was such a tragedy. It's being played on NatGeo now. You can even see on Google Maps the intersection of Newport Ave, and Beach 131st Street being marked as AAL587 in memory of this crash. So so sad. :((
@gifted67 neh dont, pilot training is getting stricter and stricter. they only let the best of the best get through the applications. this was just one of those situations of 1 in a billion or so
@SAMCAMJAIK1 Those statistics are based on one big variable.
There are a HELL of a-lot modes of transportation on the ground then there are in the air. So those numbers are deceiving and that "phrase" a out and out lie.
@SAMCAMJAIK1 The 777 has had a crash, but no fatalities. Only the 777, A340 and A380 never had fatalities. But honestly, nearly every single plane crash in modern day airplanes are due to pilot error or miscommunication.
This is so sad, I think a plane crash is the WORST way to go, when in the midde of the ocean from Paris to Washington DC, we were in some heavy turb. And that's the SCARIEST thing I've ever went through, Im deathly afraid of flying cuz I have so many dreams about crashing yet I fly 4 times a year.
actually cruising is the safest part of the flight, yes it is scary to be up there but you have a lot of leeway before you hit the ground/water and maybe things can be fixed in time. but landings and takeoffs are statistically the most dangerous phases of the flight.
Six months after the crash of American Airlines Flight 587 in Queens, New York, Mohammed Mansour Jabarah agreed to cooperate with American authorities in exchange for a reduced sentence. He stated that fellow Canadian Abderraouf Jdey had been responsible for the flight's destruction, using a shoe bomb similar to that found on Reid several months earlier. Jabarah was a known colleague of Khalid Sheikh Mohamed, and stated that both Reid and Jdey had been enlisted by the al-Qaeda chief .

the Canadian Transport Safety Bureau, which is
performing the investigation, disclosed that there
is 'no evidence' of any movements by the rudder

it had separated when the plane was at cruising
altitude and speed. 'You barely use the rudder at

This video is based on what the NTSB
is trying to hide based on its biased report.
Airbus's design is hopelessly flawed. It is
totally idiotic to try to save a few pounds of
weight on something as vital as an airliner's
rudder by using problematic, complicated carbon
fiber composites to make a rudder.
Go to USRead(dot)com/flight687(dot)html
