In fact it's a very realistic scene. I remember when told my dad I was gay, I was just as awkward as Michael and my dad's reaction was the same as Ben's. The goofy joke, the speechlessness, and the supportive attitude when he had cooled down. :)

I stopped watching my family around season 7 because I just wasn't able to keep up with time changes and such. So can someone please tell me if Michael actually showed signs of being gay in the later seasons, or if the audience knew he was gay and not his parents, because otherwise the 'i've been wanting to tell you for years' comment doesn't make any sense.

i havent watch this soap in years cause i always forget, but it was funny and i remember when i watched it i thought his character was gay, then he was with a few girls and i though the bbc had missed a wonderfu oppurtunity to help teenagers through such a strange and sometimes difficult time.

i am pleased with this character development though.

"I KNOW". the boyfriends, could of been mates he's convince to play along with the joke, just because one person says he's gay, doesn't really mean, he's gay, people thought freddie mercury was gay, some still do, still saying bisexuality is a myth.

@markhorneyuk his friends played along well they went pretty far for a joke considering his one boyfriend got kicked out of his house and ex comunicated by his father when he found out not to mention they kissed, michaels been gay for two seasons now and freddie mercury was gay, he had one girlfriend in his hole life and she helped him come out and after than he had a lot of promiscuous sex with men which unfortionatley led to his tragic death, freddies manager his friends and bandmates knew...
