Another smooth move around the Hay's code. Pause at 0:33 and catch a glimps of Barbara's incredible shape just before the quick cut to front stage - it appears a bit untimely. I'll bet my last dollar there was a debate in the editing room on when to cut that scene.
What a doll! Back in 1964, I was 17 and me and my 18 year pal were taken to Los Angeles by our grocery store supervisor who was 23 years old. And I thought he was old. Anyway, we went to a burlesque show in seedy down town. I got in on a fake id. Dancing girls, commedians, all that stuff. I remember lots of old men there, seemed like bums. Gosh, I'll never forget it.
@RinntasticCurly It's on a CD called "Did You Know These Stars Also Sang?" Amazon has it. That's how I got it on MY iPod, anyway. Lots of good stuff on the CD, including Bogart and Gable!
Notice how, when the lyrics and/or music suggests that she's bumping and grinding, the camera cuts discreetly to some other shot. Things relaxed a bit during World War II and people were a bit less prudish, but not open-minded enough to allow actions like THAT!
I love the way directors got around the Hay's code... slyly alluding to things that were not allowed on screen. Implying something was going on was just as good as showing it.
Barbara started out as a 15yr old dancer in the chrous

WOW. I never thought I'd see Barbara Stanwyck wearing that. Or, barely wearing that.

I've always wanted to make a "tear through the paper" entrance.

Right! Like when her pal offstage blinks (at 3:09) in reaction to something she does that stuns him!

@gerrybreeze Hahah. I thought I was straight. Hhaha. Silly me? I've fallen for Barbara Stanwyck.

@RinntasticCurly
Don't feel guilty about falling for her at all. If you were going to fall, she was about the best to trip over.
