Yea, there is a distinct difference between being able to "play" guitar and the techniques, but then to be a musician and compose songs that are appealing to listen to, now THAT takes talent. I've got all of dream theatres stuff, but I can only liste to two or three of their tracks straight through.

I'm not saying they're bad, they amazing, but there is a difference between able to play complex riffs, solos etc, and being a technical musician.

Agreed. I got GH:Metallica really only because it was their latest outing of the dranchise, however I was rather impressed and it got me listening to quite a lof of Metallica tracks I totally forgot about from my early teen years when they where part of the "scene". Fade to Black, King Nothing (for Expert+ drums) and Orion. I've learned the majority of Orion on bass guitar, but the "chord" section in the breakdown... it's just breathtaking.

Sorry if I misunderstood your comment, but it's 9am here and I still haven't had my coffee and setting up Umbrella Chronicales (Woo! Weaker character!) Anyway - Playing these games gives you the basics of rhythm and timing. I can complete and totally vouch for that, as can every person that plays on Expert. It increases fingering speed as well as strumming if your a rhythm guitarist. I'm a real life Metal bass player, and I always do Authentic Stummer as that helps improve my technique.

Oh and sorry, but if your attempting to make the "why not just learn an instrument" arguement - Sorry, but I do play bass guitar, a lot better than most people I know however I'm nothing compared to the bassist in this. I can just about gett the starting riff at a lower tempo on my bass upstrumming. Why don't people just listen to the music rather than play this, why don't people shoot each other and have World War firefights? Oh yes, because it is a videogame. For entertainment purposes.

Using the whammy bar doesn't give you any extra points, nor does it take any away. The only time it is an advantage, is when you get a sustain that has the overdrive powerup. Then you get extra if you whammy and then complete the section.
