  • Great vid, great song - llllllove it! Thanks for posting

  • is that john singing?

  • Great mix!

  • 2:13, ummm...

    Am i missing something?

  • great work!

  • It is John Lennon version with IAMAPHONEY &/OR MIKEYNL who finished the song... this is my favorite version, besides the original from just JOHN LENNON.

  • it`s iamaphoney

  • love it

    also great vid

    the beatles were great

    5***********

  • If you want an actual idea of what might of been look up Real Love and Free As A Bird. Those are the songs that the Beatles made for the anthology as a sort of reunion. It's like they had never been apart. fantastic stuff. But THIS sounds nothing like what the beatles would have done, aside from the raw audio of John singing Now And Then....

  • this is a Lenno song, ive heard it before

  • Very nice:)

  • excelente. esta muy bueno!

  • muy buen trabajo!

  • Great job mate !!!! Nicley done with a bit of imagination !!!!!!!! Hummmm....Love it !

    Paul

  • como no van a ser the beatles,

    escucha la cleaned up version

    y si es jonh lennon

    pero lo remasterizaron mucho

por que habia un error de audio en el fondo

  • It's agood sounding recording.

  • Bravo! 5 Stars from Switzerland

  • great video

  • A masterpiece!

  • Hauntingly wonderful!

  • Wonderful!!!

  • Your video is great . 5/5 . Good job

  • Video was brilliant. Spot on mate.

  • Although "Now and Then" hasn't gone through it's transitions of perfection..I prefer it just as it is.

  • This song haunts me..

  • there are some beatles lyrics in this song, at the begining and at the very end (im not talking about the songs before now and then starts) can anybody tell me what songs are those?

  • At the end you can hear "everybody's laughing" repeated a few times, taken from Sun King.

  • I believe I hear a bit from the song "Because" in there, as well as George Harrison's "Blue Jay Way" but I could be wrong.

  • because who ever made this added those songs in there to make a mix.

  • From me to you, She loves you, I want to hold your hand and This boy (Ringo's theme).

  • i repeat : IM NOT TALKING ABOUT THOSE SONGS!

  • So what songs are you talking about then?

  • the one in the chorus for example..."I don't want to loose you, oh no no" and you can hear a beatles song behind the lennon demo

  • If I am not mistaken I think it is from Sun King, it sounds like the chorus from it, but I am not %100 sure.

  • Yes- a part at the end definitely sounds like Sun King. At the end (3:33), it sounds like it's the line "everybody's happy"... But, I can't place the other part you're talking about. The lyrics I hear are "love is you" (2:15) which would make me think it's taken from "Because" but the rest around it doesn't sound like it. But even at (2:38) it sounds like the "ahh" part of Because.

  • i like this version of the song

    sounds dramatic

the only thing is the buzzing of course but i hear passed it =]

  • I THINK THAT your edition is better but the one of paul newell in here is so much clearer than yours

  • I think it's just brilliant how whoever made this put elements of Wings songs and Lennon solo stuff together to make it a Lennon Mccartney track. Especially the last bars that feature You Are Here and the Wings outtake Tragedy, both from 1973 are very clever.

  • Good job for sure, but I can see why this version wasn't released. I'm looking forward to the new remix with Jeff Lynne.

  • This song IS ready to be released. It's been worked on since the 1995 sessions by the remaining Beatles and Jeff Lynne.

Paul and Ringo say they want it out badly.

  • its a great videoo =D!

  • I know it's not the real version. Initially I was lead to believe it was. Alas, I was wrong. However, it gives us an idea of "what could have been" and it's a pretty good instrumentation of the song.

  • this version is kinda cool

  • From Wikipedia

The overdubs added in 1995 by the other surviving members has yet to surface; a circulating version of the demo with an apparent full band backing was, in fact, a hoax constructed with the original demo, sampled Beatles recordings, and parts played by non-Beatle musicians.

however... i REALLY like this version!!!

  • Beatlejuice... I read somewhere this ISN'T the Beatles, but a fans embellishment done over the Lennon demo "Now & Then".... not Ringo, George or Paul, but some unknown. According to what I've read, the Beatles "Now & Then" remains unreleased. What do YOU think?

  • it was rummored to be among the unreleased songs that was going to be available for Rock Band...this isnt teh beatles, that's for sure, the only beatles version (which is still unfinished) belongs to McCartney. However, I really like this

  • ...me too... it's very good

  • fantastic.

  • This has to be fake, I just don't hear Pauls signaure hofner sound. The tone of the bass sounds way too farty.

  • maybe he didn't use the hofner bass :P

  • It is a fake. This version of "Now and Then" is a fan remix from not too long ago. The actual version done with the band hasn't been released yet.

  • i hear that it will be released in "The Beatles Rock Band" =D

  • I don't think this is a bad effort at all. I'm quite moved by it actually. The ghost of John Lennon continues to haunt us, and he shows us he still had amazing material we haven't heard...

    RIP John.

  • I HAVE THIS ON a cd just piano and vocals though

  • that's johns demo. this version (not official) could be on limewire. this IS NOT THE UNRELEASED VERSION. The ONLY NOW AND THEN VERSION WITH TEH BEATLES IS CONTAINED BY PAUL MCCARTNEY, WHO NEVER RELEASED IT OR HAS NEVER BEEN HACKED. IT MAY HAVE BEEN THROWN AWAY. although i heard mccartney and starr were finishing this AND MAYBE THE FINISHED VERSION WOULD BE IN THE BEATLES: ROCK BAND. i dont know, but i really hope that.

  • That would be great if they did put it on Rock Band.

  • CARNIVAL OF LIGHT

  • that elueds some other guy?

  • Haunting

  • Apparently new technology can remix old Lennon songs, so they could take his voice or rhythm guitar, and edit it so that it went with the song. They already have George's voice and lead guitar work, and Ringo and Paul are still here, so who knows what could happen. A man can dream. Think of what three new songs (now and then, C o L, and All For Love) would be like. Their is also all of the songs from the "Rubber Soul Project", yet to be officially released. Come on Paul and Ringo, get working.

  • Also, apparently there is a song called "All For Love" that might be released when the Beatles launch on itunes. I have heard that Michael Jackson/Sony are the only hurdles to the launch. The song was written by George and Paul, apparently during the Anthology sessions, and has Ringo drumming. It was not released because their was no John, and although Beatles songs during the 60's did not always have all four members on them, sometime after John's death they decided that all new songs should.

  • By the way, this version of the song has nothing to do with the Beatles version, whoever did this took Lennon's bootlegged song and ruined it in my opinion. The real version should be so much better. I wonder if, if it comes out, whether it will have Carnival of Light as a B-side! That would be amazing. R.I.P John and George, great concert from Paul and Ringo, I am sure the other two were their in spirit, I know they were in heart.

  • 'ruined it`?

I don't think so, I think this is amazing, even if it's a fake...

  • They worked on it again, with new technology that they did not have in 95/96 and have apparently got rid of the background noise, added George's light work and have carefully added light drums from Ringo and singing and bass form Paul. I was worried when I heard about drums ruining the lightness of the song, but it came to me that Imagine had drums on it, and that is still a piano song, so if the drums are light, it should be amazing. Imagine all these years later, if they got another number 1!

  • Paul, George and Ringo worked on John's tapes during the anthology series, so that 1 could have Free as a Bird, 2 Real Love and 3 Now and Then or Grow Old With Me. George said no to Now and then because they couldn't get it to the same quality as the first to "new" songs, and they said no to Grow Old With Me because it had already been properly released. Itunes and Beatles Apple stopped arguing and want the Beatles on Itunes, and wanted a new single to coincide, so Paul and Ringo went for this.

  • Extremely well done. This improves on John's basic 'I don't want to lose you' demo, and gives us a real feel for how the song would have turned out had they worked on it. I think the song deserves Paul to put out his take on it. You've done a great job on the accompanying video too. Brilliant!

  • I would love to believe this real, but it can't as the Beatles only spent a mere afternoon working on this in 1994.

  • Right. Credit must be given to MikeyNL1038 who put up the first "Now and Then" video on YouTube. I downloaded the MP# which at the time was reportedly the real deal. As it turned out it was later revealed not to be. However, whoever did this did a fabulous job and it gives an idea of what might have been, you know?

  • I think George didnt like to continue on this song...to be released on Anthology3..."Real Love" didnt came up like what it was expected..

this song needs more work...more put...Paul's share

  • I'm skeptical that Paul, George and Ringo made this version. It's fantastic, but I know they would have put some backing vocals of their own and would have done more with it. And I doubt they would have used lyrics from old Beatles songs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • very cool ...

  • This is the official unreleased Now and Then edited by Paul, George and Ringo in 1995? How can you be sure? Have you some source?

Excuse me but i want to be sure this was really made by the 3 beatles in 95. :)

  • to KingCTR: Sorry to dissapoint you but it's not. It was supposed to come out with Anthology as a 3rd Beatles Reunion song. But George vetoed because of the buzz (which you can still hear here) and because they would have to write new lyrics to it. This is the most complete version of the song YouTube has...not the beatles though....still amazing

  • Yeah, I knew that. I just wondering if this one is the original unreleased song like the descirption says.

  • Wow! A work of genius. You could show this to any uncultured teen and they would think it was some awesome new band. Can't get enough of this sog man! Great job!!!

  • I want a anthology 2 damn it! ...too

  • Great stuff Beatlejuice72! Check out the rare and unreleased George Harrison song "Window Window" with my new studio backing on youtube.

  • very... very... good

I thought they were the beatles!!! well u know, the beatles!!!!

  • This would blown people away in '95 had it been released! It would have fitted in with the trip-hop sound that was coming in at that time. It's a shame they couldn't get the buzz out of the demo recording. If this isn't a fake backing track then the guys (and the world) missed out BIG TIME!

  • I love the montage from about 1:44 to 1:55

  • If only the remaining BeaTles would've recorded this song for the Anthology 3 in this version. This song would've been Much better than the other two.

Great video beatlejuice, it's got some good details.

  • Thanks! :) I think that this song would have been a better fit for "Anthology 2" since it's more downbeat than "Real Love."

  • I want a anthology 2 damn it!

  • Agreed. I was disappointed by that 'new' Beatles song on Anthology 2 almost as much as 'Free as a Bird'(on Vol.1). Fuck the buzzing noise, that's a great tune and MUST be put out there....DAMNIT!

  • Video. Song. Editing. Amazing.

  • i've never gotten why they have that head there and the beatles heads come off it

  • Good video.

  • This is the one thats been tampered with by iamaphoney. You can tell because it has samples of "Blue Jay Way"

    Anyone got the un-tampered version??

  • I have the original un-tampered version

  • Gnarly man! You mind posting it? Or is it already posted?

  • Any chance you can email that version to me? I would love to hear it!

  • me too!

  • Comment removed

  • i do, and I there's a lot of videos with the demo. Most of them have the "buzz" in it though..look for the "cleaned up"version. I don't know how they did it, but they took all the buzz out...cheers!

    /(XD)\

  • The chorus could have been made a LOT better. I prefer the demo version with John alone. This one is just too much...

  • Saw my house on the opening....... Ha .... Love from a rainy Liverpool

  • amazing

  • Amazing.. lives on and on...

  • Huh?

I thought Paul, George and Ringo only edited "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love"?

How many more songs did they do?

Or am i on the wrong track now? :-P

  • They tried editing this one, but they could never get past a few technical issues and could never get a good mix. As a result, they canned it and put in other filler like "A Beginning."

  • They also were given the demo of "Grow Old With Me" from John's Milk & Honey album. I don't know why they shelved that idea, but I was glad they did. It's better off a Lennon tune, only.

They also worked on a McCartney/Harrison song called "All For Love," but I don't know what ever came of it.

  • wow this song awesome, but what are the full lyrics for the ?

  • VERY VERY GOOD JOB !!!

  • well done. cool version. very full on. and it's got that epic sound that free as a bird and real love has. cool

  • Where on 3 anthology it is ?

  • A version of this song WAS due to go on Anthology 3 but George Harrison apparently vetoed it saying it wasn't good enough for release, but I gather it probably will be released in the near future.

  • Paul and George have nothing to do with these sounds, it's iamaphoney, this whole things growing silly ! Roll on the real thing though, it shows how nice it could be, nice video

  • For me, that's the best 'Now & Then' video out there to date (until Macca sorts himself out and releases the real song/video). Supurb work! Can anyone top that?

  • Where can I get a copy of this song !!!!!!!!

  • I'm obsessed with this video. THANKS FOR UPLOADING!

  • You're welcome! Glad you're enjoying it. :)

  • do you know when john lennons voice was recorded?

  • Presumably either 1979 or 1980 when the demo was made.

  • sweet thanx. i was just curious.

  • Can't get this song out of my head! I play this video every time I'm on youtube!!

  • Thank you! I might re-do it again because I don't like the ending and there are a couple of changes I'd like to make.

  • Nice stroll there! Have YOU ever been to Abbey Road?

  • No, I've never been there. Would LOVE to go, though.

  • when was this recorded? the instramental sounds new

  • Reportedly in 1995.

  • When is this coming to cd! It's killing me!

  • No idea. Reportedly this is the basic track from 1995 that has recently been bootlegged. "Anthology 3" was fantastic but it always seemed empty to me without a third "new" Beatles song. I like "A Beginning" for the first track, but it doesn't really fit. And it WAS already released at the beginning of the "Yellow Submarine" movie.
