It's so interesting; I speak Acadian French as my grandmother is from Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. I didn't realize how similar Cajun French and the Cajun accent is to Acadian spoken in Cape Breton. I understand that most Cajuns made it to Louisiana during the great expulsion, a few distant relatives of mine being some of those people, but up until now I didn't realize how similar we really were, even after all of this time.
