  • This video was extremely interesting and informative, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable to be told by someone who is herself limited to a subjective point of view (as are we all, I'm not trying to be pretentious, I don't know shit) that my own way of doing it (and one within my comfort zone, personally. I don't think I could handle the duration experienced when chewing) is offensive to the plant herself. That's up to her to tell me and I'm quite sure she can do that just fine on her own.

  • Salvia is a wonderful plant, and should never be made illegal, because it is not harmful to us or others. Trips last only minutes, and people are physically incapable of even driving, etc. And it's harmless to the body...

  • Knowledge is Power....Educate Yourself!

  • Blame the users, not the drug in question. I can smoke Salvia in my own personalized ritual fashion, but to align me with the inexperienced fuckwits youtubing their trips just because we're using the same substance is downright childish. Furthermore your pseudo spiritual experiences with this deity are subjective only to yourself. Move on, drugs change along with the times and people.

  • @jamalocaust well said. anyone trying to claim their dogmatic spirituality over another's is very irritating to me and belongs in the past with all the rest. people should always be free to adapt and make use of a substance in the way they find benefit.

  • There's nothing wrong with smoking Salvia Divinorum as long as you aren't an irresponsible cunt. I've smoked 80x and carried out various functions without much distraction, but that's because I'm good at tripping.

  • I'm still going to smoke her.

  • honestly i think i get the women by smoking all the time. its sooooooooo weird. thats what ive felt was controlling me all this time. i never knew but ive always felt some feminine feeling while on salvia. Be4 i do i just tell myself i respect it and its never a bad experience. The first time i ever truly experienced it i completely had a bad trip. but ive found that nature and respect can completely erase all feelings of bad anxiety while under the influence. Its best if u can see the sky.

  • the salvia trip videos that are posted to youtube are real situations that happen in real life, this shit should be seen, the internet is uncensored for a reason. if you're worried salvia will become illegal like other "harmful" drugs, then there's a bigger issue that we have to address.

  • Throw someone who's been living in a western materialistic society all their life into the psychedelic universe and it will likely scare the hell out of them or give them a bunch of pretty colours to look at. I think that yes, it is important for people to know what salvia does to others but its also good to remember when you play with fire you get burned and when you use a psychedelic with the wrong intentions it will teach you a lesson, and thats exactly what the people in the videos aredoing

  • SHIT, MY BAD, MY FINGER SLIPPED SORRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, I LIKE IT, VERYYYY MUCH, GREAT JOB..... AND SORRY AGAIN LOOOOOOOL

  • I see it in his eyes. Something is wrong. TMK die in this time i think so maybe this is why or maybe another reason but anyway the fact is TMK and KH are awesome good people!!!

  • She's not saying that you won't get high from smoking salvia. She's quoting the indigenous people that said smoking it won't work to bring you the lady, so the next step for us is to chew the fresh leaves the way the indigenous people do. Then we'll understand what it is there talking about.

I personally am going to smoke salvia again for the fifth or sixth time this Saturday. I have the salvia zone brand this time. The last times I had the purple stick brand and it was scary. I'm going to try

  • I love this woman.

But just to say--yeah the ever so caring war on SOME drugs governmentsees a few vids of youths larkin about after smoking Salvia and BANS it.....!!

BUT apparently them being pushed LEGAL toxic drugs is fine. Watching and playin psychotically voilent vid games is FINE. Fighting in profiteering war games of the rich and getting maimed, psychologically damaged, killed. is FINE FINE FINE...?

what shit fuks they are. what contemptable bastards they are.

  • I disagree with her that salvia doesn't work if you smoke it. Trust me, it does. Ive experienced the fact that all of us are one energy and we are all god source. It is not a seperate entity and has no gender face form name color or anything..it is pure energy and that which we all are. MAGIC.

  • she has a very beautiful voice

  • Learned something new today, thanks Kathleen

  • salvia is a gay drug, for gays.. no not really. but it made me very scared and im a Vet on dem drugz

  • je viens de commander des graines de cannabis sur shayanashop histoire de fumer ma production, j'attends de les faires germer.

  • you can not fight bullshit with bullshit

  • is this terrence mckennas wife?

  • @Intergalactiic Yes :)

  • @Intergalactiic they were married but divorced

  • Some people, including me, seem to feel like there's a "big secret" behind the experience of smoking Salvia D. Sometimes I wonder if perhaps it's because of this "secret" that the Mazatec's say not to smoke it. Maybe we're not "supposed" to go there (wherever it's taking me.) ? (I haven't 'broken through' yet)

  • I love salvia.. everytime I do it, I (not only think and feel) but I am actually smoking myself. I start giggling of the funny fact, that we all are one. It just becomes so clear, and I get a strong feeling I want everyone to join in. Anyone else get this? It's like, almost like a mother of us all, this plant. How unthankful and ignorant to call it a "drug".

  • Recently I smoked 60X . I definitely felt a female presence, she was formless. I took 2 huge hits and was gone before I could put the pipe down. As I fell back she gently eased me down and I clearly heard her say "lay him down here", lovingly, and as if she was speaking to other beings. I felt her place me down into what I can only describe as the universal lattice or unified matrix. Very strange and intense. I only wished It had lasted longer so I could explore. I'll try orally next time.

  • I have smoked salvia and felt the presence of "lady salvia" and she did not seem to mind my method of consumption. She seemed to guide me safely through the experiance and I do not believe that she was offended by me smoking her.

  • I agree don't smoke that shit haha. You might think you're dead. But then again... that is very interesting isn't it?

  • This and The Salvia divinorum User's Guide are great!

  • I can't understand a word this broad is saying

  • @OscarMaris Read The Salvia divinorum User's Guide, then listen again.

  • @Anomki I meant that I can understand her actual words because of the sound quality.

  • J. D. Arthur wrote the book Salvia Divinorum- Doorway to Thought-Free Awareness about smoking Salvia extract. Kathleen Harrison, Ethnobotantist and author praised it with the following words in March 2010:

"This author's thoughtful investigation of the unique, leaf-induced state merits careful attention. His methodical approach and detailed documentation is a model of how to meaningfully explore such vast and elusive topics as time, mind, and language.

  • Part II of the comment of Kathleen Harrison about the book Salvia Divinorum- Doorway to Thought-Free Awareness :

His careful forays led him to establish familiar pathways both into and out of what he suggests may be another reality, or the far side of death. Mr. Arthur's conclusions beg the very question: What is thought?"

You can find the book at innertraditions(dot)com

  • I'm always leery of this sort of psychedelic fascism... telling me that if I smoke the drug, that whatever I feel or experience is not the "goddess" is just weird. how does she KNOW what I'm experiencing? how childish to say "your trip isn't as good as my trip"!! ha! jeez... personally, in a world as totally messed-up as this one, I'm happy when anyone is trying to expand their minds.

  • @mazigazi You are completely right my friend... she sounds ill-informed about the effects of smoked salvia. I smoke it from time to time, and have amazing insightful experiences. Not once have i felt i disrespected the plant or the spirits by smoking. In fact i believe the exact opposite. With smoked salvia, you are thrusted into the other world with precise fluidness, and i feel that the "presences" within these realms enjoy my company.

  • test

  • when i used salvia i was alone in the dark outside nearby my house and omg i went to space for 5 minutes it was awesome

  • Hey, If you like Salvia Divinorum you should search for " Salvia Divinorum Distribution Project " on here or google to get a free cutting

    cya

  • salvia d. is the best fucking drug! its incredible

  • it is very sad the state of useage and patronizing of psychedelic plants.

Buying salvia at a corner store is one of the most single foolish and ignorant acts a person could do in a humble opinion. Easy circumstances and no context can cause terrible results with Diviners sage.

The youtube videos, painful to watch, are important for the wider look. Great videos. thank you for Kat talks .

  • out of all the problems in America where does the Federal Government find the time to make this substance illegal? Trying to hide something, and i think i know what it is.

  • whats so great about not having any control over your mind and body?

  • the experience in itself.

  • to realize that you will never be in control

  • She explains that Salvia should not be expolited...this is a useful substance..

    it is....you might need it...

  • You can also Vaporize Salvia. In that case you don't have to burn leaves. But you have to do it with a sitter, because it is much, much stronger.

One day i will vaporize Salvia and i will ask Maria Pastora if it is allright for her to do this. I agree with misses Harrison about the part of the intension, consagrating Salvia in the dark and with a lot of respect.

  • This is Terence Mckenna's wife, so , yes, she knew at least one shaman very well. Thanks for this, as I've never heard her speak...

  • ?? i dotn think soo

  • you, don't think so, what?

  • Amen to that.

  • hmmm...

    Cant dry the leaves

    Cant have sex

    cant do this

    cant do that

Where have I heard this before? Sounds like religious dogma to me.

    How sad how typical.

  • oh yes how sad. sounds like the shamans could really use an education from you. pretentious douchebag.

  • @Babliclat thank you

  • It's a tribal custom, taboo almost, derived from the experiences of their ancestors.

It's not a literal story of the Goddess in the plant, it's a metaphorical device.

  • @Skiddla

I would argue that these plants that people ingest to have these experiences are in some sense a dismebodied teacher that requires the same kind of respect and proper conduct that you would need for, say, a Chinese martial arts master that would help you learn the arts in order to survive.

Your body is the vehicle, everything about your nervous system navigates these realities, so what you eat and what you do with your body is actually of MAJOR importance before you take a medicine

  • @Skiddla

    Let me ask you this

would you rather abstain from sex for 6 short days for the purpose of a medicine journey,

or would you rather abstain from sex until you are 25 to 30 years old and finally about to get married, as many global traditions require?

    Think about it! lol

  • I had a very intense religious exp. when i smoked 20x and she let me in right away i was welcomed with love and knowledge b4 i even exhaled strong feeling of dejavu like ive been in this realm b4 female entity giving off vibes of thanks, like thank you for finally coming to visit me, and its always like this. i thinks its because ive been very spiritual and open minded since i was very young. like an old soul.

  • Salvia is definately not a party drug. Use it

when you are stuck and dont know the answer to a serious question. I dont agree with smoking it, the leaves should be chewed. Smoking it is a major taboo. I've tried both.

  • Comment removed

  • lol why not?

    i have tryed both

  • i think you shouldn't use cocaine or heroine and most of the hard drugs because they're can be very phisically and psychologically addictive, although I know of some people do coke only once a year and they don't crave it at all.

The only hard drug I've tried was MDMA(pills) and i'm never doing that shit again.

  • MDMA is not a hard drug

  • It is and it isn't, just depends who is talking about it, there's no universal consensus.

  • Why not?? People make the decision to start drinking and smoking and some other people try drugs.

As long as you have a good life already and stick to the weekends (ie, don't be doing drugs throughout the week) give what you want a try here and there, set boundries and be aware of the risks, read up on peoples experiences too.

  • I agree with Gonzo707 that the more people use the plant like just another street drug the more chance it has of being treated by the government as such, and banned.

Too bad--it has so much to offer.

  • It is certainly up to the individual as to whether they want to have the Salvia experience as an 'amusement ride' or allow the plant to teach them something. Are you interested in consuming and 'getting f-kd up' or are you interested in healing yourself and expanding your awareness? The Mazatec ritual she describes offers one way the plant can teach us---there are undoubtedly others.

  • Good to hear Kat Harrison (however briefly and calmly) mention the stupidity of those who film themselves tripping and putting it on youtube.

People who do that are- whether they realize it or not- doing as much as possible to panic ill-informed parents and politicians and get yet another plant prohibited.

  • @Gonzo707 I don't relate to almost anything Kathleen says about the plant here. But the plant is very profound indeed. I love it, have been smoking it all day today ^^

  • With all due respect to this lady's beliefs and the mazatec culture .I'm sorry if you're offended by my method of salvia consumption(smoking). However I'm not going to fall into a trap of religiosity and dogmatic systematicism when it comes to what form and through what medium my ingestion of a entheogenic substance takes place.I'm a believer in free will. This is a free will issue.I've grown tired of the contingent of individuals who advocate this sort of authoratative rigidness in useage.

  • I'm a determinist, so i'll have to disagree with your free will bit--

But I agree with every other thing you stated in your comment.

  • You have to remember that orally chewing Salvia leaves would be a greatly differing experience from the smoking one. Both in intensity and in duration.

Although personally I think being "locked" into Salvia for a whole day/night might be undesirable in most cases, It's a very difficult drug no matter what your experience with it.

Traditional set and stetting may be ideal, but by no means essential.

  • With all due respect to your own insecurities regarding your sense of freedom in personal preference of ingesting an entheogen. This is not really about believe but about safe use of a plant psychoactive of which we have little experiential data in our own culture.

What this talks basically states is:

    1) the Mazatec do use Salvia

    2) The only use it outside of the mushroom season

    3) The prefer mushrooms over Salvia because they are more safe.

    How's this dogmatic?

  • the sound sucks can someone tell me what she said???

  • i did it for the 1st time last night and i felt as the whole universe was folding in half!!anyone get me?

  • totally get you, have you had the sudden urdge to study quantum physics, i feel like i have a gift now that i will never forget, funny thing is that i know one day each of us find out what that gift is...

  • Pack that pipe full of Salvia!

  • what the hell? all I heard was Bluh bluh bluh.....

  • If you smoke this, be sure to use a butane lighter. It is the vapors that affect you. Also, KEEP your eyes shut to have visions. It may take a couple hits back to back. Make sure you have a babysitter. I can`t say enough, use a butane and keep your eyes shut. Open eyes and visions are over.

  • i disagree. ive had my eyes both open and closed on separate occasions and have hallucinated greatly.

  • Yeah. Salvia is famous for the open eye visuals it creates, and should be. Amazing plant.

  • I had my eyes open and could see nothing as the world span before me - with a bit of concentration i was able to partition a 'slice' of the world from spinning and if i relaxed it enclosed again.

Be aware different substances affect different people in ways which may not always be comparable.

  • I too had the same experience with my eyes open. After talking to others i realize how others were affected differently. With my eyes shut in a dark room, the room did NOT spin. I projected out of my head and the visuals appeared as if i was there. After i went through the particles in the wall anyways. As soon as i opened my eyes, visuals were over and room started spinning. In my "opinion" my experience between eyes open and eyes closed do not even compare. Recommend trying both experiences

  • man...when i did 80x i didnt know the difference between open and close eyed vision. it was all just a different planet.

  • Thank you for confirming the eyes closed concept. Guess others must try it with eyes closed before they can understand this concept. As soon as i open my eyes, the visuals are over and the room starts spinning. Like you stated, it is only a world of difference between the two. Butane also seems to "vaporize it" making it more intense as well. Any one else reading this, you did not really experience the OBE it if your eyes were open. Just try eyes closed and let me know what you think of it.

  • i first hear about salvia in the year 2001.

it was offered on a site called tocacola.

i find it's name so strange.eventhough i was in the site to purchase some cannabis seeds my interest was absorbed by the plant and i started navigating the net to know about her.

at that time information about the plant was still too obscure.only one merchant made it from time to time available and he prefered not to talk much about a plant he has no clue about.

today i have 50 gramm of it

  • i remember then lol. i have 30 grams my self currently. Awesome plant. I also have syrian rue, caapi vine, and psychotria...im too chicken shit to try it ive had those almost a year now lol

  • well , we have than enough salvia for at least the next millenia

  • Traditional use of psychotropic plants is embedded in religious beliefs and strict rules. Of course these taboos are ridiculous when taken out of context. It remains that the support of the religious community, the structure of the ritual, and the self-centering while attempting to obey the taboos can be beneficial.

Anyway, however you see that, it is a lost battle, I expect Salvia soon become scheduled.

  • The Mazatecs' religion is a synthesis of both traditional beliefs and Christian beliefs brought by the Spanish conquistadors.

    Synthesis! Spanish conquistadors!

I pulled the first paragraph straight off Wikipedia!

Why or how could something be considered sacred when it's concocted (if she's not just explaining thru her own bias perspective) a bastardization of two distinctly different religions?

Who is she to waffle on about anything? The traditional mexican indians where very male dominated.

  • thank you Kat.

  • was it the accent?

  • no. and i what i said shouldn't be fiercely shut down and given a stupid thumbs down 3x +

  • salvia is a sacrament straight from God. it should be respected.

  • Joeflaten, Everything is God.

  • that is what jesus was trying to tell people until they wrote the bible and fucked up everything

  • We are god manifest! The painters of the visible and infinite canvas known as 'reality'.

We are sacred and perfect, it is only our perception that is flawed and impure. Good Video.

  • yah dude keep preaching. the world needs you

  • yes, the tree of kniowlege story

is the only truth in the bible

  • smoking is obviously not healthy, but an "offence to the deities"?--get a freaking clue.

  • People should listen to this lady, she knows whats she is talking about. People who live in cities and are nature deficient will never understand that respect for mother earth is the more important than money. Thanks KAT

  • Typical Americans, Criminalizing Salvia..

Thank God I live in the best country in the world.

  • @TaylorAmelia I'm searching for the best country ! In which one are you living ?

  • too bad youtube ruined the Law in sweden about Salvia. Got illegal 2006. Fuck the law

  • sorry but this is BS. Many of us have positive life affirming experiences smoking saliva, this is merely tradition being discussed here, there is no "right way" to use salvia, and the Mazatecs don't have all the answers regarding it's use. How we take use salvia reflects the age we live in, but she comes to all, she's a shepard, she understands, and is compassionate, she does not take offense, she simply wants us to be happy.

  • @digimaton Agree completely. This video was extremely interesting and informative, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable to be told by someone who is herself limited to a subjective point of view (as are we all, I'm not trying to be pretentious, I don't know shit) that my own way of doing it (and one within my comfort zone, personally. I don't think I could handle the duration experienced when chewing) is wrong/offensive to the plant herself. That's up to Sally to tell me.

  • she is wonderful! such a great example of deep empathy and kindness which is as great a quality of being and becoming as any gizmo or gadget or artistic and medical insight inspired by the plants.

her story about the salvia safety measure is very important and should be spread!

the salvia experience she is alluding to is found in daniel pinchbeck's 'breaking open the head' (a rather good book, sans the horror that is his second (coming))

  • Now the new jackbooted thugs are arresting people for this.

  • thanks
