The last year in which a prize was awarded by the French for Harpsichord performance was 1799. Even into the early 19th Century, it was still used interchangeably with the pianoforte as a concert and continuo instrument (mostly by ensembles/orchestras too strapped to afford the newer, 'trendy' instrument).
@aldebussy the exact definition for Bocherini's compositions, a very underrated composer, who if given the credit he deserve can go head to head to Mozart
it's odd that a classical composition still has harpsichord in it...

come to mention it..the harpischord started to fade away and go out of style at boccherini's time =]

Well not really, Harpsichord did not disappeared in 1760 ;). It lasted until 1780s as main keyboard instrument and even later (like England).

I love Boccherini. If his music wasn't good, I'd still like him just because of his portrait. I'm digging the bow tie. The goofy smile helps too.

Belissimo. Nicest. It has a comic piece too.

Bocherini's music is so euphoric in the Baroque sense and so charming and elegant in the Classical sense. I LOVE THIS CONCERTO!

Oh, sorry!! It seems so.
I only see the end-pin. But it has only 4 strings!
Thanks!

It's not an endpin. That's the chair leg.

@yoyoloveT I don't see an end-pin, Boccherini's legs are holding the cello in place because theres no endpin.
