when i was 6 yrs old i would get up eairly every morning and start a fire in the wood cook stove for mom so she could cook breakdast ; and did that using the only light bulb in the entire house ; we had an ole emerson wooden box radio ; i would listen to Bimbo ; and loved Down in the Carribean bye Hank Snow ; Kawliga with ole hank ; darn i miss those days .
This song took me back to being a kid.. My godfather had the vinyl..... Back to the days with no worries... Felt good going back.. Thanks for the post!!
My dad had this song on a vinyl album when I just a kid.. he played it in the house All the time and I remembered it.. many years later I played it on guitar word for word but was not sure who sang it.. this video is a great reminder of Jim who had a great influence on my music and who I admire for his talent... Thank you for posting this video... it made me smile a lot .. very enjoyable.....I
What a class act. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but the likes of Kenny Chesney can't hold a candle to "Gentleman Jim." Can you imagine Jim wearing a tank -top and slouch hat?
Dean Mannuel on Piano, the ultimate pianist for any band. Listen to the song again, he doesn't miss a note. As you all probably know, he was on the plane that aweful day in 1964.
What a talent! What a voice. And guess what? He could entertain an audience WITHOUT fireworks, laster lights, fog machines, and other useless gimmicks. God rest his soul!
Mom and I would sing this in the car while Dad drove us to what-ever campground we were staying at. WOW, THE MEMORIES. 63 Ford Falcon and a tent trailer.
I used to listen to this song when i was like 3 or 4 years old.....my dad would always turn it down when he said the word "sucker" because he didn't want me going around saying it.....lol...how funny
The quality of the clip is amazing!! many many thanks, great memories of my wonderful late, great Grand Father singing this as we used to work on the farm. Brings a (happy) tear to my eye
I love how versatile Jim Reeves was. He could sing beautiful ballads, and infectiously catchy songs like this, equally well. I first heard Jim Reeves on a cassette of my grandparents- this was one of my fave songs on it.
brilliant stuff

Very nice. Thank you for posting. It's a shame those folks are just sitting there listening - this one's a rounder. That's some jumping piano too.
