I caught swine flu twice within 8 months, that means two things. 1), it must have mutated in order to infect me a second time. 2), I survived twice obviously, and in my humble opinion, wasn't as bad as "normal" influenza which almost killed me in 1999.
Never had a flu shot in my entire life, either. I eat massive quantities of cholesterol laden food, my cholesterol level remains normal. And I haven't gained a pound in 15 years. Pulse is 50-60 bpm, blood pressure perfect.
To add to the point about the half of a million American deaths in 1920, consider that the population of the US in 1920 (according to the census) was about 100 million, not 300 million.

I wonder, it's mentioned in the video that humans have never experienced this virus before. I heard that this came about sometime in the 1970's. Thats why this flu isn't effecting older people (who are usually most at risk) Have I heard wrong? While I agree with Thunderfoot that our priorities are all screwed up here in the States (CDC vs. Military), it seems unlikely that we're ever going to be able to ward off pandemics without a healthcare system that is available, affordable, or dare I say FREE for everyone. And despite the unlikely event that this virus did indeed breed in pigs, we should question our own responsibility. Firstly if we have no immunity to a virus its lethal, the reason for which being our body has no way of mounting a specific immune response in time to avoid a fatal level of cellular and tissue damage. The relative virulence of a virus depends on its ability to evade our specific immune response. The ebola virus can kill you in 24 hours and has a 90% death rate. The 1918 Spanish flu killed in a matter of 1-2 weeks and had a 1% rate.

I have just gone back to work this week after being in quarantine for 2 weeks on Tamiflu. I was confirmed to have H1N1 and personally I would say its over rated. Well yeah it might make some people ill, it might kill some people, just like flu. However, it spreads muuuuuch faster which means the death rate will be higher in the long run (pandemic) and it has the potential to be astronomically higher. Having no natural immunity means that if you come in contact with it you are 99% likely to get it, whereas you won't always catch the normal flu when you come in contact with it. Bullshit to that, I never get the flu unless I get a flu shot. I know it won't kill me because I'm very healthy, but I've see elderly die from it b/c they get a flu shot, and they end up fighting it and struggling before they give it to someone else. It might not kill that person specifically, but that virus is spread, and because it was put in dire straits, it mutates faster. Viruses mutate because of a need to adapt to stay alive. We give them a need by pushing this 'flu vaccine' bullshit.
The problem with swine flu is it kills young strong people.(this is a big issue) Also another issue its spreading very fast and its not supposed to do this at this time of year.(another big issue) Now that swine flu is stage 6 it has the potential to become a real problem. Mutation is normal for viruses and bacteria with or without vaccines. Deadly mutations happened long before Science came along and in much greater frequency. Science has made a positive difference not negative.

It is wise to monitor and to be be very vigilant so we can stamp on these things before as they start.

Knowing this, the 1918 spanish flu would kill only 1% of its infected population, of course out of 1% of a million, that's 10,000 killed which is still a lot but nothing compared to the 90% kill rate of ebola. So yes the vast majority of humans do have some level of immunity to any novel virus, including 10% of us with ebola.

Firstly if we have no immunity to a virus its lethal, the reason for which being our body has no way of mounting a specific immune response in time to avoid a fatal level of cellular and tissue damage. The relative virulence of a virus depends on its ability to evade our specific immune response. The ebola virus can kill you in 24 hours and has a 90% death rate. The 1918 Spanish flu killed in a matter of 1-2 weeks and had a 1% rate.

He has is wrong on transmissibility. Viruses transmit better in dry air as they stay airborne longer. He says that summer is drier-it's not-it's more humid in summer in most places (55%). In winter it is drier (25%) which is why flu season is a wintertime phenomenon.
He also talks about the 1920 pandemic-it is known as the 1918 pandemic the year that it started. It ended in 1940.

I had the common flu last year and I would say that was at least 3 times as bad. Although I have been told that the Spanish Flu started in a similar fashion...

Having no natural immunity means that if you come in contact with it you are 99% likely to get it, whereas you won't always catch the normal flu when you come in contact with it. Bullshit to that, I never get the flu unless I get a flu shot. I know it won't kill me because I'm very healthy, but I've see elderly die from it b/c they get a flu shot, and they end up fighting it and struggling before they give it to someone else. It might not kill that person specifically, but that virus is spread, and because it was put in dire straits, it mutates faster. Viruses mutate because of a need to adapt to stay alive. The problem with swine flu is it kills young strong people.(this is a big issue) Also another issue its spreading very fast and its not supposed to do this at this time of year.(another big issue) Now that swine flu is stage 6 it has the potential to become a real problem. Mutation is normal for viruses and bacteria with or without vaccines. Deadly mutations happened long before Science came along and in much greater frequency.
