  • meaty treats? haha

  • I love Steve always trying to get free stuff and saying "it'd be crazy for me to pay" lmao

  • what? i didnt know that the bbc was that stiff, louie didnt even come close to saying something rude in my opinion

  • when i hear stephen merchant's voice, i expect ricky gervais's piercing laughter to come right after

  • i thought merchant was a fucking phenomenal interviewer here. Funny as hell. Almost as funny as louis. Then I look down to see that he was involved in creating one of my favorite shows of all time. Figures...

  • Cant stop laughing

  • if you look back at the office it wasnt THAT great

  • @ILOVEHASSELHOFF if you go back and watch the office, it is better than I remember it was !

  • @ILOVEHASSELHOFF nah, it really was. Even gervaises mindblowingly out of control ego can't take away from it's greatness.

  • @ILOVEHASSELHOFF Your username suggests an inability to be taken seriously in matters of pop culture

  • Merchant is FUCK ALL without Gervais

  • @ILOVEHASSELHOFF Wrong. The Office for example is 60% Merchant 40% Gervais. Gervais owes Merchant his career.

  • @ILOVEHASSELHOFF No, he's isn't as charismatic as Gervais, but he is pretty damn smart and funny. One of those things you have to grow into.

  • @markyboy27able Well I think it's because Steve's a comedian, he's either making small talk with references only comedians understand or using it as a joke to put himself down IE appearing bitter at not winning an award so trying to downplay it - very common between him and Ricky.

  • why must there b a hole in the room?- its letting some of the fun out : (

  • "I don't care, I'm leaving in a week"

    LMFAO!!!

  • lol love the bit at the start talking about Richard and Judy- Richard Madely is SUCH an arrogant, try hard, egotistical tool..glad CK picked up on it haha

  • Don't understand the hate for merchant for this, someone explain

  • I think Louis CK is very funny, but he's dreaming if he doesn't think that the word faggot is a mean way to refer to gays in the minds of most people.

  • @CraterCreator If you haven't already, watch the first part of "Chewed Up" on YouTube. He goes through the whole bit. And "faggot" is NOT the "worst" word that he toys with...I love it because I am tired of the whole PC movement in the US.

  • Of course when he later saw his kids in Italy, that's where the pony biting incident occurred.

  • Then a pony bites his kid in Italy.

  • God the conversation in this comments section is really annoying, isnt that a surprise for a youtube video. For those of you debating the impact of swears between the US and UK, I will simply say your all a bunch of sweaty fucking period cunts.

Merchant is a great man and a brilliant comic, He's starting a stand up tour this september, and an Idiot Abroad two starts on Sky again soon! :D

Louis needs to meet Karl Pilkington, and gervais has to film it!

  • To the people hating on Stephen Merchant....this isnt O&A!!!! get over it

  • Steve Merchant sounds like an uptight faggot. Louis shoulda told him to pull the stick out of his asshole

  • @aseglkj

Definately not, good job judging someone you don't know dickhead.

  • @Doca Hey britfag, I don't have to "know" him, I can tell by the way he talks and the things he says.

If you see a guy in the street with a shaved head, a swastika t-shirt and yelling "heil hitler", do you have to :"know" him before you can say what he's about?

  • @aseglkj I love you too :)

  • Steve merchant is a faggot..

  • "Imagine Regis and Kelly except British and elderly" so...British Regis and Kelly.

  • i would never call a gay guy a faggot unless he was being a faggot...

  • "The Boat song with a slightly rude word" was the statement having to be given? WTF, Brits? That's more PC than us. I'm shocked.

  • @PlanetFailure really? you know every divorced man in the world?

  • stephen merchant is being ironic faggots

  • Steve is acting like a faggot, and I can say that b/c of the grandfather clause.

  • "So she's got the kids." Why do people always assume divorced men don't watch their kids?

  • That's so weird that they can get away with saying faggot on the BBC, but fellate is completely off limits.

  • @Renmauza Because it's only offensive in America. In England a fag is a cigarette.

  • @Awesomesauce909 "Faggot" is still offensive in England, what matters is the context. You can't say it and be referring to gay people if you are joking or trying to insult them. You can say it in an educational context though, or if you aren't referring to gay people.

It is like "fairy." You can say that anywhere in the UK and you won't get in trouble if you are referring to the fictional creature. You call a gay person that though and you're in trouble. Faggot is still offensive there.

  • @thecolorunknown Yeah, I know it can be considered offensive here (I meant that it is primarily an American phrase, which England seems to have adopted), but that was the only reason I could think of.

  • @thecolorunknown When was the last time someone was rushed to hospital after being offended......FUCK OFFENSIVE.....AND FUCK PC....

  • @lyco46 I didn't say I agreed with it, but it is how it is.

  • @Renmauza they get away with it because they are discussing the context of the word - its just a word that means gay, however its offensive - this was an afternoon show, when you talk about fellatio - its 100% clear what you mean, and that sort of stuff shouldnt be on during the afternoon,

  • i love how Louie just blocks steve's comedy on purpose.

  • Louis CK is a genius. (Modern-day comic gold standard aka. Pryor, Carlin...)

Ricky Gervais is a genius. (Hilarious and infectious material)

Steven Merchant is ALSO a genius. And I normally love him, BUT he was acting like a real passive-aggressive TWAT during this interview. It was strange and I am truly normally a big fan of his, but Steve sometimes you got to reign in the dickery.

  • Absolutely love Steve Merchant but he really acted like a proper meaty treat in this bit.

  • @goddamnshutup nope.

  • Louis should be a guest on the Rick Gervais Show. I'd love to hear how he might get along with Karl.

  • the bbc is federally funded. merchant has to cover his ass on 'offensive' language. quit slagging him off.

  • i dont like that other guy lck ftw

  • Merchant has such a great persona, it's a pleasure to listen to... I remember the Gervais podcast -- that was awesome.

  • "we've been married nine years now so we're nearly done" prophetic words in his stand up show. sounded like a bitch anyway

  • Meaty treats!

  • STOP BEING A FAGOT AND SUCK THAT COCK!

  • fucking CENSORING Louis CK! FUUUUUUUUUCK THIS PROGRAM! (louis ck fanboyism, but you get my point)

Prime example of how comedy goes down the drain due to shitty regulations.

  • He's on a syndicated show, I believe. Opie And Anthony, for example, would have to be just as careful.

  • @iimbamii I do find it interesting though the things that are and are not allowed in England, like I feel like in America the word "faggot" would actually be more taboo on the radio than "two guys fellating eachother"

  • @MarloweB3488 Yeah. Both sides of the pond often contradict themselves. In America, you can't say "tits" for example. But, they can talk for an hour about why they love breast. Whereas in England, I would imagine, it's looser with the language, but very touch and go with where the language takes the conversation.

I just don't understand it, either way. Just words, at the end of the day. Shouldn't empower them.

  • @MarloweB3488 - the word fag and faggot dont mean the same thing in the UK - someone can say "im going to smoke a fag" , and mean a cigarette, and "faggots" is actually a meat dish prepared at a butchers, so in the uk faggot just doesnt hold the same weight

  • Ne careful in Italy Louis! Your daughters gonna get bit by a fucking pony!

  • I love the explanations for the British references, lol.

  • I love Steve Merchant, but he (and the people in the background) came off as prudes.

  • @sovietsentinel

I think that was a bit on purpose.

  • best: louis ck didn't get to finish explain why he's not homophobic in his use of faggot because he referred to fellatio and we just can't have that.

  • LOL this guy is hilarious.

  • Does anyone know where I can download The full series 1 -4 of The Steve Show.

    Not Pilkipedia it takes forever

  • 2:06 Steve looking for free tickets

  • Oh man, Louis Ck plus Steve Merchant, two of my favorite people ever!

  • Who are these people who are doing this show with Steve? They all have these annoying accents and they speak like such faggots about the music and they all have annoying radio voices. I don't like Steve as much on this show, he's much better when he's with Ricky and Karl. He's still funny but there's something about him when he talks about music and gets into the radio DJ speak that makes him really annoying.

  • "it's like, shut up, faggot"

    absolute genius

  • Did South Park rip off Steve's show?

  • Louis CK... best stand up in the world

  • @JSHEP73 agreed!!! closely followed by ricky gervais

  • Merchant clearly hasnt seen Louis' stuff as he explains how it isnt homophobic... he was JUST about to say it before Merchant interupted.

  • He was scared that Louis would drop some words and he wasnt disappointed. I

  • ughhhhhhh i hate when the interviewer keeps talking over the much funnier interviewee

  • FUCK YOU

  • yeh, steve merchant co-creator of the office and extras is a close minded person. fuck you.

  • ok, i didn't know who this guy was when i typed that comment. Also, later in the interview he makes note of the fact that Louis says 'faggot' in a way that doesnt connotate homosexuality. So you're right, he isnt close-minded. But he was being kind of 'faggy' in how he treated Louis in this interview.

Also I hope that you get Aids.

  • ASS

  • Faggot is worse in the UK because it's a 'foreign' word, it's unfamiliar. So in the UK daytime radio context it's almost as risky as saying cunt or something. There was a rather high profile scandal involving two BBC radio/TV host a while ago that led to one being fired. Merchant was worrying about whether it was going to create problems after the show.

  • iirc "faggot" is actually an allowed term on the BBC.

But from what I've noticed, the british aren't as concerned about bad language guidelines as they are bad taste.

Russel Brand and What's His Name got in deep shit over some fairly light content simply because it was so meanspirited.

Meanwhile, Ricky Gervais had a local radio show in london where he said cock, shit, arse, tits, minge, fanny, bollocks, dickhead, etc all the time on air and only got a complaint upheld once.

  • I think it's time of day etc as well. This was sunday afternoon. If it had been after the watershed Louis probably would have been allowed to do the relevant comedy bit without being edited, so there wouldn't have really been a problem.

  • Why does the time of day change the acceptability of something. I don't understand.

  • In the UK after 9pm is the "watershed" when swearing and more adult-themed material on terrestrial TV/Radio is allowed.

  • I didnt know words were time sensitive. Must be an English thing.

  • @Gumbyrearygood Cause its past most kids bedtime

  • it doesn't, but it's a good system for everybody I think.

parents and old people don't really have any credibility complaining about content because they know what happens after 9pm, and TV shows get to say (more or less) whatever words they want.

  • @YouDickwod haha are you steve merchant? you took that rather personally. and anyway, he is a rude elitist wanker when he's around pilkington. so is gervais.

  • @acrobaticaromatic everything they've said is completely incorrect. You can't insult the person when you know nothing about him, that's childish.

  • @YouDickwod Clarey your comment was sarcasm but could you please next time use the reply feature so the rest of us can help you abuse the fuckwit, Steve merchant is a god :D

  • british faggots

  • That's redundant.

  • steve merchant and ricky gervais are the ones who gave you fucking the office.

    fuck you fuck face.

  • That sucks how they have to cencor him here. Hest the best on the Opie and Anthony show.

  • thanks for this, louis ck is hilarious
