Deer Creek, was the tucky way stompin ground, us folk from Lexington KY really had some big times in the corn feilds of the In. How I love the memories of the Dead....
i thought chem dog originated in denver CO.during the 12 - 12 91 shows in the ice cold lots of mcnichols arena . I was at this set of shows and going to college at Regis in Denver and thought chem dog originated there. Check out High times medicinal issues around spring of 2010. not arguing, just enjoying the music. Gong back to red rocks in SEPT 2010
This Show was the one that spawned a legend that created some of the best strains we know today Chemdawg 91. ahh i can smell the first generation chem 91 in the air now beauty PURE beauty.

These shows were a blast. We had two kegs and 20 bags of ice, camped at the place with the pool (But didn't go into it). I have pictures of the police on the other side of the chain link fence inside the show, I was toking hash like twety feet away and they called me over and said "You should see how red your eyes are, we can see them glowing from over here!" I just laughed and said "Wanna buy a sticker for your kids?" and they did.
I too loved shows at Deer Creek. It was smaller and more intimate, the sound was always great, and it had the coolest ceiling to look at whilst blissin!! lol
I used to love going to the Creek. Especially in the earlier days. It slowly got seedier & now I've heard that the community there wanted to turn it into a mall or something. Shame on them...all the money rock shows especially The Dead brought to their area.
Yep, was there. Cops with dogs, over aggressive cops tackled my friend who was riding his bike knocking him off and breaking his leg. Was accused of shop lifting in the local grocery store. The local people sucked balls, never went back. Hateful state.
i was there as well have the full show on bootleg great time slept in my car with friends at a rest stop. every hotel and motel was over booked. To many memories I was so broke that tour but like you say would you rather be rich or happy?????
I was there....... I remember that show! Totally a great show! I baught like three for a $5 food stamp I was so broke. Passed out after the mad rush across the street from the parking-lot. Lost my friends ffinally got in and down in front. Had one huge kaleidoscope moment.....Got out of the show and a car full of girls asked me to come with them.....lol I ended waking up in west virginia and hitched a ride back to Buffalo.......so the question is; would you rather be rich or happy?
I was there! I remember all the motels were booked solid, so we ended up at some crummy dump with a bunch of other D.H.s. I've slept in parks cleaner than that place, but it was so worth everything! And I'm still following the boys! Will be seeing them in September, can't wait- have the tie-dyed stuff ready to go!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful memory with all of us!
I was communing with an oak beside the creek when they eased into this, peaking right...about...4:30. Thanks for the grilled cheese and Sammy Smith's Nut Brown, for Trippy Skippy, White Owl and the Disco Bus, and all the miracles, night after night, road after road.
This was my first show. Wow, so nice to find somethin like this, watchin these people , I find myself starting to move with the music. Nice, very nice.
My first show!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great night...changed my life forever!!!!! Thanks so much for the post! What a great show for a first timer! Oh how I miss these days nothing better than deer creek...THANKS

Man Garcia really sucks at the guitar, if he keeps practicing he might make it someday.
Weird thing is it always sounded like he was playing three guitars at once.
I've never heard anyone else be able to do that.
Even music snobs I know can't explain it and they know everything.
