Thanks my friend......lets me know it was worth the effort.
I've gotten criticized a couple of times for not doing Voodoo Child the way Jimi did it, or even the way Stevie Ray did it.....which, Stevie actually did it differently from Jimi.
But I figure since I decided to do it so radically different from Jimi, that's a price I have to pay!!
@pnbibbins there is TONS of criticism going around. Usually by people who dont have the balls to post their own video's. I was just bummed that you only have 5 videos up! LOL
WOW dude, your voice is great, I'm glad there are still a few black people who have the spirit of the 60's 70's black people, unlike in this generation most black & white people are just a bunch of spams, thank you for staying alive bro, the world needs people like you
@pnbibbins No man don't take it like that, you're nt living in the past, people who have that soul aren't dead, they're still true people, but in this generation they're not people, they're aliens, listen to alien-ish music, good stuff are always few, great people are even fewer...
Very nice, you've taken a song from Jimi and turned it to something with your own feelings and expressions in it. Thats exactly what Jimi's music is all about.
Ahh, but I've been told by many that it's a great murder!
....man, you really miss the essence of what Jimi Hendrix was about.
The man never, ever did any cover tune by anybody in any way but his own way.
I could have done Voodoo Child note for note like Jimi did it, or like Stevie Ray's version, like you are used to hearing a million other guys do.....but really, what's the point to that?
there is one on youtube. type voodoo child play along and it should pop up. use keepvid to download it and then convert it or do with it what you please.
after 1.30 i got enough. it's a shame how so great song is this badly raped. no offense this just my opinion. i like the way that Jimi and SRV played this song
I hear you man, but it's a shame that you miss the essence of what Jimi was about.....he always did other people's music his own way, from "Hey Joe" to "All Along The Watchtower" to "Hootchie Cootchie Man", and on and on.
If I did "Voodoo Chhild" like you're used to hearing it, then I'd sound and be like a million other guys doing it.....just not the way I do things....never will be!
wow your amazing love it man. i love and respect jimi hendrix but i like your voodo child version better. i want to know what your using and the kind of amp
.....On "Voodoo Child" I used a Dunlop Hendrix Fuzzface, a Lexicon MX200 Reverb/Effects Processor, and a Crybaby wah. The amp I used is a Marshall JCM2000 DSL 50watt, which is off-camera in the video.
The wah pedal is only heard very lightly in the background. I used the wah more for subtle coloration of my guitar sound, than the normal wah wah effect.
I could have done the song like everybody else, trying to do it exactly like Jimi or Stevie Ray.....but that's not me.....not what I like to hear when someone else does another person's work. GOTTA PUT YOURSELF IN THE MIX.
.....and why would a wah wah be REQUIRED to play any song in the free world?.....goes directly to my point....Most guitar players figure you have to do things a certain way.....just not the way I think bro.
no i totally understand but you have to remember it's not your song and that it does follow a certain you like guideline. and wah is really cool and if you plan on playing it
I disagree with you here also bro.....the man who wrote the song, Jimi Hendrix....when he did anybody else's song, always did his own thing with it. Listen to his version of Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" for an example of what I'm talking about....nothing like what Eric Clapton originally did.
.....again, no laws out there that say you have to follow a certain guideline, only that you pay the artist who wrote the song royalties when you make money form it.
i know dude but it's the same notes and the same neck pickup tone so you can idenitify the song. if your so worried about sounding like someone then don't play a cover song. we know to use the minor pentatonic scale for the solo.and
Still disagreeing with you man.....no law that says you gotta use the neck pickup, or the pentatonic scale to play "Voodoo Child"....the only thing that matters is if it's groovin' and people dig it.
.....not worried about whether I'm sounding like Jimi.....if it happens, so much the better. But I am always looking to sound like me.
We could go on for days like this, I hear everything you're sayin', but none of it is how I see or do things....never will be!
well done. you lived in it
