  • okay well then what about before that and before that and before that and before that? cant answer that can you moron?

  • What surprises me most is that the Law of Conservation Of Energy was thrown out when the notion of the Big Bang was entertained. There are a few things we can know about what came before the Big Bang. One is that there was Energy there, in some state, potential or kinetic, in the system that was in effect before the Big Bang. The second is that this energy was equal to or greater than the amount that became the universe. What we call time is not a place, just a convenience of maths.

  • @RyuDarragh: How do you know Conservation of Energy held before the big bang? You don't, and nor can you prove it did or didn't. (Not trying to cut you down, just arguing the other side :) Thats what so cool about this topic, its that no-one knows, its so interesting to see theories.

  • @sutasman: Because there's no reason to assume it did not. Occams Razor. If it didn't, then Black Holes, another place "where the laws of physics no longer make sense" would either exolode or implode and dissappear. The laws aren't what no longer make sense at extreme singularities, but our ability to apply the math needed fails because we don't know how. Needed details are unknown and incomplete. My assumption is that the laws still applied at the big bang for this reason.

  • @RyuDarragh: Sounds like a reasonable assumption, I can accept that. To us at the current time and with our current knowledge it does indeed make no sense that the big bang 'just happened from nothing', for the reasons you say. So I'll hypothesize and say it came from a previous universe's Big Crunch. What are the chances of the constants of nature being different in that universe? Also I just love that fact that singularity/infinity really means "we have no idea" hehe.

  • @sutasman: hehe... well, actually, we do have ideas, we just don't yet have a clue how to test them ;)

Big Crunch? Maybe.Have to account for recent data that seems to show the universes "expansion" appears to be accelerating, though :P I like the idea, though.

  • book free download 50 pgs , How God Created the Universe , see channel and video for info ..,.,. added bonus gravitational singularity .,.,.,.,. peace .,.,.,

  • I like the colourful pictures!

  • Thanks for this series of videos!

  • Great lecture!

  • sweet lecture it took me 3 times through before i finally got it!!

  • And what did you get, if I may ask? What's in the Penrose's hypothesis that appeals to you more than other hypotheses?

It's not a trick question, I just wonder, that's all!

  • I would like to add that we're friends, so this discussion is entirely friendly! I'm interested in your opinion in order to compare different ideas/hypotheses. I'm not a mathematician or physics genius, so I need to usurp different perspectives. . .

    Take care my friend

  • im not a theorist, mathematician or physicist either but i like his theory because he doesnt try to include everything into his theory. unlike string theory and other theories that currently explain the big bang, he isnt trying to explain point particles or gravity. hes trying to discover or gain some insight as to how the universe could exist with properties as such. i like the fact that even though its a very technical conversation i can still understand and visualize the concepts.

  • Thanks for you answer!

  • of course

  • "one that suggests a succession of universes prior to our own"
