I love Cane's protectiveness toward Lily. He isn't sure how to react to Malcolm's return--especially how the infighting may hurt Lily. He didn't seem comfortable leaving her with both of them and all the tension in the room.

love cane in the bed with lily with that look of love on his face! he's also demonstrating that he's running things where his wife is concerned. i don't know if cane should go to the bar and leave lily with her daddy/uncle and her uncle/daddy. at 0:10-0:12 he's looking like "who tha?!" from then on to about 1:36 he has the look of "what tha?!" and will this mate cause lily stress?, on his face. lily broke the ice when she touched cane at 1:40, he smiled!

Personally, I thought that Darius did a very good job. We all loved SM but he's not here. Darius even had the Malcolm attitude. What I loved most of all was watching Cane's expressions. He doesn't know what to expect of this new addition and how it will affect Lily and Neil's relationship. It seems that he's not taking to this new addition. Lily seemed elated to have him back and that's where the problem will lie, and maybe that's what Cane is seeing.
As much as I would have LOVED for Shemar to come back it didn't work out. To me Darius wasn't all that bad. He seemed to be able to keep up with Kristoff in that alone scene with the two. Let's keep an open mind with this.
@Semmafan17 4 me, there are just some characters that other actors or actresses can't recreate (ie. Dru/Victoria R, Victor/Eric B). Malcolm/SM is included on my list.
And I can understand that, but TPTB wanted to do this storyline. It never got any closure. They tried to get Shemar back. Didn't work out. So they did the only other thing they can do. Recast. I guess its just easy for me to accept recast because I don't get too attached to people currently in the role, because in soaps recast are bound to happen.
@Nyk83 amen to that what really makes me angry is that TPTB scared shemar off by asking him to sign a contract when they bloody well know he is on contract with criminal minds.
this is one time i feel sorry for lily two over protective fathers and one very concerned husband i think this is all to much at once lily needs to rest.
