Wow, even 32 years ago American men were reduced to virtually BEGGING females to not ruin the bonds between the father and child. This is one area that I envy Arab fathers. Their culture doesn't allow females that inordinate amount of influence over the lives of men.
Hell with childSupport, my so-call daughter is 19 years old and a mother of a 2 years old..I still have to pay for this piece of shit (Mother of her's) childSupport, while being married and on welfare and on section 8. I've been paying childSupport and while I was with this piece of shit (Mother of her's) since my so-call daughter was 1 1/2 years old. Now is it me? or the piece of shit? or my so-call daughter? or the System with the problem.I still have to pay childSupport until 21. NYC, BKLYN
Well i'm a father and just won custody of my 9 month old daughter and you bet your butt I worked HARD to get it but it is possible. And no, i'm not going to take the mother for child support because I wouldn't want to be on that end of the stick myself so why would I make her. She contributes what SHE feels she can and if she can't then she can't...No law is going to make me draw blood from a stone. Represent all the single daddies out there! It can be done guys!
@breastimus "And no, i'm not going to take the mother for child support because I wouldn't want to be on that end of the stick myself so why would I make her"
and if women actually expressed this amount of concern (and a conscience), there would be A LOT less men out their getting screwed by Family Court by child support
For a lot of women they would ask "Whats a conscience?"
My boyfriend was a single father. And he made a damned good parent too! His daughter is a sucessful artistic genius. When his wife gave signed over custody to him the judge seemed perplexed and even said he thought children should be with mothers. That is sexism if I've ever seen it.
Don't blame women for this. Blame the system which favors one sex over the other.
@CanadiaNecro1 As a mens rights activist,I agree the system is to blame but at the same time when all this stuff started women were silent on the whole issue & silence is consent.
@CanadiaNecro1 We have groups that concentrate on different issues, for fathers rights we have fathers 4 justice & for other Issues we have the national coailition for free men. And various other groups,so we haven't remained silent!
@crypter27 Went thru a 6 year battle dealing with lies, PAS, the bias of the family courts etc but emerged on the other side with full custody and now, years later, the kids are so much better for it ... Now the subject matter is the basis for an upcoming movie called "What Tigers Do," which carries a great deal of relevance for parents/activists of both genders ... interested in your thoughts
@CanadiaNecro1 Im new to Mra but you make a good point any Gender Equality movement must focus on both sexes. Its important to represent both so that true equality is restored.
@crypter27 Yes, I agree, and today's women now know how to play into those biases and manipulate the system. There are VERY VERY few women in custody battles that would not take advantage of it, or even go so far as to suggest the system is to blame. The entire process favours them...AND THEY USE IT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE.
@TSM8088 I'd recomend Professor Steven Baskerville,he knows how the so called system really works & their are several interviews and speeches available here on youtube. His info is eye opening,to how corrupt the system is!
@CanadiaNecro1 We don't blame women for it. That's a mistake people often make in analyzing the MRM. We blame FEMINISTS, because they are the ones responsible. They run the Bar Associations that Family Court judges answer to. And while women may not be responsible for the anti-male bias, the ones who get involved in Family Court aren't doing much to stop it, either. They just go along with the schemes of their lawyers who are interested only in making money.
50/50 Custody is the best way to go. NO father should have to play a weekend father to his own kids. 80/20 is never in the best interest. In the case like the video above "Kramer vs Kramer", 80/20 is the best way to go since the mother took off and left the family. It should be 50/50 unless there is a reasonable reason why it shouldn't be.
well I'm a mother and I'm a non,and my ex in jail and my son live with my ex brother....And I don't work but I pay child support my husband help me pay
Sometime its not in the best interest for both parents to be involved. When the other parent has a drug and alcohol problem then supervised visitation is the best option. In my case the Father does nto pay a cent for his child well being, his friends switch license plate numbers on vehicles so he can drive without a DL and insurance so he can work under the table and not pay support. If a man with these morals and friends like these, is it a good idea to subject a child to this? Think about it
@DeadBeatsSuck Perhaps the reason he is using these escapes is because he's being denied his child. I don't agree he should be doing drugs ect. I know at least two men who only became drunks after they were slammed in court with outrageous child support payments and given virtually no time with their children.
@chickenman14278978 I also know a woman who had her three children taken away from her and put into a metal facility because not seeing her kids drove her nuts. Being denied your children affects both parents but when it affects a man theyre seen as a crazy, obsessed, deadbeat, when it happens to a woman theyre seen as going through a natural separation anxiety.
It's about the money guys. The court likes to name the mother as the custodial parent and the the father as the non, because the non custodial parent has to pay the child support - and pay it through the system. Most men still make more than women, so higher $ amts can be set. The more $ the States collect, the more $ they get from the Fed Gov in rebates - 60% of every dollar. It's a corrupt system based on illegal taxation - corrupt from beginning to end.
@macpduff Are you retarded? Pay what thru the system? I pay child support and the amount set by the courts that I pay goes directly my son's mother. How exactly is the government making money on this besides the fact that I had to setup the arrangement in court proceedings which ofcourse costs money. Its the process where money goes to the system, not the child support itself.
Really, what are those formative years you speak of?, im very interested to know. Perhaps you should speak to the judge who gave me(im a man) custody of my 3 year ol daughter. As for the comment as a whole, there is no scientific proof to back up your claim, merely a socially accepted stigma which must be overcome. If I were to agree with you on your point perhaps you would agree with me on the point that men are smarter then woman. Would u not agree that that is also a stigma?

You really wanted to say YES, but added poitically correct disclaimers. Because you gave birth and nursed, you cannot not imagine anyone else having the same degree of attachment to your child. But being a parent is a role that is developed and grows with the child. Unfortunately, a lot of fathers are shoved aside, even in 'healthy' relationships, and this role is not permitted to develop. It happens so frequently, and is so easily justified as 'natural' that not enough people question it.
Have seen a grown man overcome with tears the first time his 5mo old daughter snuggled into his chest and be soothed by his voice (mom kept him away until then). Have seen same little girl 18 mo later suddenly drop her toys and run for 'Daddy hug!!!' And a grandma who is made SO happy to watch videos of the love between them (they are not permitted to visit grandma).
im lucky im still with my partner and see my child when ever i can(student in a different city), but the same problems go on here too in the UK, there was a fathers peaceful protest in London a few months ago.Westerb Europe,Canada and America should have a huge fathers protest on the same day (taking in account time difference)
Connecticut is the worst state for giving custody to a mother. I know of a child who is possibly going to go back and live with her mom who is remarried to a man who raped and molested his own children. the judges and attorney generals office along with the court appointed lawyer for the child think a mom is best suited to raise children. The childs real dad has been a positive role model
I must be a lucky father, Living in CT and have 5-1/2 days a week with my son. I don't agree that I'm still considered a non custodial parent and still pay cheld support.
I watched this film in the mid 80's-alone-it made me cry sometimes a little too hard considering I was only 19.
. I was just a young buck bird doggin every chick.
Today I'm living it- the whole gammit. Trying to be with my Son and he me.
Strange.

The child needs BOTH parents, period.
In most of the cases there is not better or worse parent.
and there is a higher chance the child grows up to be a delinquent if only raised by one parent.
Family court avoids shared parenting like the plague so they can pin child support orders.
