I really like the last shot for the fakie tray. You can see how the the tail pops off the ground to get the board in the air. Then you see you catch bolts on landing. Really sweet, I want one now.
@Trickscollection Yes. It works fine for photos but for video it's not that great. When recording HD video it tends to "hunt", constantly changing the focus closer and further even in ideal conditions. In high speed mode, the focus is fixed before recording starts and cannot be changed while recording a clip. I manually focus it.
@HoodwinkedbyanAngel No, I don't want him to be seriously injured, I just want to see how people manage to break their fall so quickly...it's amazing that we can do that as tall lanky mammals. I mean............yes I wanna see blood.
are these videos shot normally and converted to 30fps later to make the playback slower or they originally get recorded in slow motion ? I Have a Panasonic FZ35 which has a shutter speed of 1/20000 (video ofcourse)
@orton1394 Shutter speed is different from frame rate. You can shoot each frame in 1/2000th of a second but still only record 30 frames per second. The Casio EX-F1 can record 300 frames per second, and when played back at the standard rate of 30 frames per second, it's 1/10th real speed and still looks smooth. The smooth slow motion is due to the way it's recorded.
@orton1394 Using a fast shutter speed like that will reduce the motion blur of the individual frames. But if you record only 30 frames per second and play it back at 1/10th speed, there are only three frames per second to play back. Video editors can interpolate frames in between those to make it look a little smoother, but it won't look like this video.
@abdulbasitb The higher frame rates have lower resolutions. It's like that right out of the camera and there is no way to improve the quality. This is typical of high speed cameras.
I've been tempted by the f1 but im holding out. I need a camera that can save the high fps shots in better quality and hope that casio or someone else pulls something out of their sleeve for us consumers soon
Nice camera ! I've got the baby version, EX-FC100 which does 210fps natively but the quality drops a lot when shooting 1000fps. After seeing this video, I might have to start saving my pennies for a new camera :-)
I know you need one and i have a Casio F1 also...but i can´t play the movies at that speed on the pc. which software did you use with the movies from the casio F1. Thanks. Happy new year for you. Greathings from Portugal
The videos are .mov files and I can open them with quicktime. Make sure you are recoding in high speed mode if you want to play back the videos in slow motion. The camera can also record regular videos. If you record in high speed, they will play back in 1/10th speed on the camera as well as on the computer.
my ex-f1 is coming tomorrow, got it for £409.98 free postage with a black leather case... you guys should try Park Camera's... make sure you select the leather case bundle as it makes the camera 1p cheaper haha so it would silly not too.
I don't like how the resolution decreases when the frame rate gets higher.
I don't know enough about the technology to know why that happens.
I'd personally be happy with a camera that had nothing more than 300fps, 16:9, Standard Definition (along with all the modern day luxuries that come with any given camera, of course).
its because the more fps it uses the more mem it takes up, and im assuming its a HDD cam, when it takes more space it lowers quality to lower file size... to make the vid fit on the HDD.
I don't dispute you bought a camera, but if it was the EX-F1 you absolutely didn't pay $250 unless it was stolen or used/fucked. Don't play use all for fools, these cameras are like $1000
I have the same camera and I love it. As you have shown, you get to see things in a new light without needing an entire camera crew. You have a steady camera hand too, good work.
casio exilim is the cheapest high speed camera , i saw a camera with 500 fps at 7000 $ and one at 17000 $ (no VAT) at 116000 fps. 17000 i can buy a nice car :)
is there any ways of getting better quality out of the 600 and 1200? on the computer mabye? like cut and resize? i just got the f1 also.. and was just wondering..
hey, could you tell me how long you can record such a video with 1200 fps? i mean the duration how many minutes oder seconds (real time not the slowmo time)
do you know how it is possible to capture the video and then make a specific part on the video clip play in slow motion, and return back to normal speed?
This camera has a mode where you can record at normal 30fps and then when you hit a button it starts to record in slow motion 300fps and you can hit the button again to go back to normal. I normally just record everything at 300fps and I speed up and slow down the video with software on my computer.
Yes, the camera can record in HD (though only at the normal 30 frames per second). And yes, you can watch it back on a standard-def TV. It comes with a cable to output an analog signal and it works even with HD videos, it's just a non-HD signal. Of course you can also output in HD if you have an HD TV.
I used .wmv 3MBPS for this video (that's windows media video, 3 megabits per second quality). It's pretty high quality, but youtube re-compresses it anyway. Part of the reason this video looks high quality is because the camera was on a tripod, so the background doesn't change. Video files can be compressed more efficiently when the background doesn't move.
Yes, that's a limitation of the camera. 300fps is captured at 512x384 pixels, 600fps is captured at 432x192 pixels, and 1,200fps is captured at 336x96 pixels.
What software did you use to compile the vid mate? Nothing I've got access too wants to open the files from mine! Yet they all play perfectly on things like VLC and Quicktime...
I use Sony Vegas 6.0. There are newer versions of Vegas which presumably read these files as well. Vegas 6 will also read 720p HD video shot with the EX-F1 but not 1080i.
I've seen this thing priced a few hundred less online, but when you do a few minutes of research, you find those stores being scams. I'm with you, I'd rather pay full price, locally, and ensure I get a good product, with a warranty.
