It's up to us to help each other because very seldom does the person who posted the video respond to questions. I am thinking of buying this helicopter. My 4 channel skills are getting better so why not upgrade. Sorry I'm no help at the moment.
i'd like to know what to do if it's unaligned ? and how can i see it. i mean, ok i put the calibration tool, so what ? i'd appreciate an answer, thanks !
Awesome video, I just bought the Blade MSR after purchasing like 5 collective pitch small heli's in the past from the toy store in the mall. I only wish I had known about this heli before wasting so much money. THANKS!
Hi Joe, i just purchased my MSR blade and have been working on adjusting my trim settings. It seems to be hovering ok, however the helicopter keeps on tail wagging. Any trouble shooting ideas on how to fix this ? Thanks.
About the calibration tool, if your swashplate is loose, after a bad crash, you put on the calibration tool like he showed and then use your fingers and lightly pull up on the swashplate, holding the heli by the shaft with your thumbs on top. It doesn't take much, so do it carefully.
i love your videos, i wish people wuld just enjoy the video and stop critizizing. keep up the awsome vids, i got the blade 120 sr yestarday and its amazing. cant wait for some scale bodys!
I don't mean to correct you, your right most of the time anyway, but the swashplate tool, when you insert it, the long end (top) goes over the links leading to the grips. not that it matters much, just thought I'd mention that.
There seems to be a lot of slop in my in my rotor between the swash plate and other components. Should I just buy new parts and rebuild? I just purchased the heli yesterday, although i have definitely put at least 3 hours of flight on the heli.
@ joehandsome99: Great Video! I have an MSR too, it's got around 300 flights now still with the original main frame, landing skid and motors! I don't give much on tuning parts but I really recommend you the precision flybar from microheli, it really improves the control precision and stability because it's got a ball bearing in the middle, not just a hole which wears out as the stock one.
@bassax7045 Cool your heels before typing. I made a suggestion that maybe you should try a flight sim. Thats all. I dont own stock in the company nor do I sell spare parts for this heli.
BTW, if you cant fly it stock, why do you think aluminum upgrades will help you?
@bassax7045 I agree with joehandsome99 man, he's right! I own an mSR too and I think for it's size, it's very tough! You have to understand that the mSR is not an outdoor helicopter. Sure you can fly the mSR outside but as an experienced pilot you should know the limits of your aircraft so you don't overstrain it. Aluminum parts make it more precise to control but they won't help if you crash it, they are just more expensive to replace...
@MrLowAltitude ok when i say i like it better to fly any heli with cf blades for more precise handling ,,you would say ,ï should be able to fly with plastics"" i could ,,but the point is it flies nicer with carbonfibers and would be more precise ,,any remark then about a sim would have nothing to do with the subject,,if racedriver wants to chance to better tyres tou dont advice drivinglesson instead ,,get my drift here?
@bassax7045 Oh and by the way: Flight-Sims are great to practise the control reflexes! I have many hours (Not 3D, just normal flying) on different types of rc-helicopters but I still use my simulator sometimes if I want to try new things!
@MrLowAltitude i use simulator every day ,,but it was a inapropriate answer to treat me like i dont know shit,,even with flying capability ,,a heli can still lack quality in its stock version,,i just asked if the upgraded version would be in production,,and the answer was that i should use sim ,,how stupid is that
@joehandsome99 im cool man ,,it just felt like giving a standard answer to a real question ,,,i can fly it ,,its just that its very fragile when using it outdoors ,,indoor flying keeping it hole is no fun ,,so with stronger parts it would be way better
When i saw youre video and when you flyed you heli i did start wondering if you control the heli almost exactly how it flyes around or if the heli lives his own life a bit.
Nice video, I liked the whole "hold it under a magnifying lens and talk to it" that you did, really these things are so small it's nice to see a close up like that.
that is an amazing heli. although it gave me a bit to much confidence. i picked up a Blade SR yesterday and today, i'm going back to the hobby shop for new blades and tail boom
Amazing miniature bell-hiller mixer. Pity about the fixed collective. Personally I like to have a higher rotor mass when hovering to help with stability (I'm a crap pilot).
I have an R/C Vortex 3 ch, and I can fly it (not really well indoors because I have a small apartment), do you think that the MSR is too big a step? I want a small heli for indoor AND outdoor flight.
The mcx is a coaxial helicopter and better for stable flying....great for beginners. The msr is a fixed pitch (single blade) heli and is faster and better for intermediate flyers. If you have never flown, I would start with the mcx then upgrade to the msr later, although, both fly really well.
Very well done. The magnifying glass segment is beautiful. Maybe a smaller pointer? :-) On the flying segment like all other sky/ground shoots auto balance and aperature can never keep up. Shoot only with trees in view or ground in view. It will take more footage to get finished product but it will be totally pro in the end.
I use the 150mah batteries in my msr's and mcx's and they work great in both. I also insert them all the way in and it doesn't mess the balance up either.
For purely indoor flying would you recommend the MSR over the MCX? I have watched your videos with those micros, but I am more curious how they do head to head.
Just bought an MSR today. Graduating from my much-loved MCX S300 and CX3.
I absoultely love it! Not a giant leap in handling; just a need for a lighter touch, and a high patience for Newton's Law. A gentle, confident hand is all that is needed.
I am a huge fan and I pretty much bought a blade mcx after your review. I love it, and it is my first heli.
I'm wondering, how much more difficult are these to fly compared to the mcx. It took me about 5 flights to get the mcx completely down, and now i'm just refining my flying.
I am not a total noob to flying, having been in the plane crowd for a while, but when it comes to helis, I have had 12 flights.
I probably won't get this until January, so you can take that into account.
Continue to practice with the mcx and then in January if you still want to step up then the msr is a good next step for you. Also training with a flight sim will help.
HI Eric, Thanks for another great video. I went out and bought an MSR after watching your first video and what a great little model for this time of year. I am a typical guy and did not read the instructions so was not aware of the advanced setting.
nice vid Eric, also saw the one of you and Dave Herbert when visiting him, the MSR is a lot or fun for sure. I've been flying airplanes and 6 channel helis but like this one a lot. Is the calibration tool included in the box or did you buy it separately ?
I lost mine the first day flying in our garden - it just suddenly went over our house and I searched four hours to find it 200 meters away.....nothing happened, it just works fine....
dude put a small piece of heat shrink tubing and let it hang off the end of the rear motor just a small piece and dont cover the whole motor or it wont breathe and dont make a cap of the end so the rear motor still breathes and has full protection
i thought this would be soooo awesome :D but the day i got it it would not trim properly and it kept on drifting backwards and slightly to the left. eventually after several crashes it landed on the tail motor and guess what! my tail motor cap popped off and now i gotta hand out another $15 to get a whole new tail! yay what an awesome helicopter (sarcasom)!
i have crashed mine more times than i can count and i have yet to break anything. The msr is a very durable heli but accidents do happen, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the msr itself. To avoid something like this in the future...altitude is your friend...it is very difficult to trim close to the ground and you shouldn't trim while in ground effect to begin with. Trim it at about chest to eye level
Great job on the review, very useful information, but, still enjoyable to watch. This will help me decide how to move up from coaxials. Just wondering how radical can a fixed pitch heli get? i.e., Will it do any tricks like loops or rolls or is that strictly for the 3d helis? Thanks again for the great review.
this is only a fixed pitch heli so normal flight only loops/rolls are not possible with this model if you wanted one that could do loops rolls you would need a collective pitch heli like a esky honey bee king 3 or a esky belt cp v2 :)
Thanks for showing the advanced swashplate setup. The manual was a bit cryptic but this cleared it up for me. I'm mostly doing indoor flights since it's windy were I live. But when it calms down I'm going to give this a shot!! Awesome little helicopter.
i got one of theses 5 days ago and on the 6th flight it exploded, the blades ripped off, it smacked into the ground, broke the landing gear and cracked the feathering spindle. Although i still think its a great heli for beginners, i cant wait to get the parts and start flying again. GREAT VIDEO
I've pre-ordered one and it should be delivered to me within a week of these arriving in Australia. (mid-September I've heard). It'll be my first heli ... stoked
This is the first time I have ever seen the new red conopy and and tail empanage... cool stuff, Eric! I just read that there will be a 150mAh 12C battery coming out in the middle of this month. I wonder how much more time that will really and truly add. I guess I will eventually get one of these, but my next target is a Spektrum DX6i or DX7 radio.
Great review as always Eric and a top flight there matey and this is one the wish list already but it keeps getting bigger and bigger lol but i will say it's up the top there,i got the PZ vapor yesterday and i'm well happy with it but i did have a couple of little knocks as i could do with a bigger room but i got there in the end ;-) so thanks for the great reviews you and Greg do,5*

nice bit of coverage but whether it's my pc set-up or not, the music seems to drown out the verbal report!!???

nice set of videos for the blade.
