How is it possible for a song to steal so many different song parts? You have the drums of breadfan, a cheap adaptation of the ironman rift, and also they used the breadfan gutar rift to top it all of. WOW...
I don't think any of those comparisonsare fair. The breadfan riff is just going between two notes, drumming can only be so original. As for the iron man like riff, its one of the most famous riffs of all time, if not the most. Of course people are going to be influenced by it and write similar stuff. There were so many other bands back then that had sounds like BS or LZ. Its a style of music
@mustard2155 it's not just the riff or the drum, it's the combo of them together. also, if you're saying that they are using the ironman riff cause it's well known then why would the use the secondary one. another more thing that bothers me is their attempt (however small) to change it(basically dumbed it down a little) i'm not saying it's bad im just pointing out what is going down.
@FunkyBuddha15 Led Zep are one of the greatest bands ripping stuff from other guys... that didn't stopped them to be as great as hell, and didn't avoid me me from love them :)
All you so called critics should know that every song ever written has to start with an idea, and that idea comes from listening to music, so what if a riff sounds the same, there are only so many riffs a guitar is capable of. Listen to some of the greatest rock songs ever written and you will hear little bits of influences in them, i think you knockers are jealous because its them up there and not you!

Wolfmother, try and do something original. The riff is a complete rip off of Breadfan by Welsh rock legends circa 1973, Breadfan. Yonger peeps may remember Metallica doing a cover of Breadfan from their Garage album around mid 1990,s
I'm glad a band like Wolfmother, with its Led Zeppelin/Black Sabbath influences, exists for my generation. I'm tired of all the other utter shit music, it's time to bring back classic metal.
im french and my english was bad but power chord was like Iron Man of Tommy Iommy of Black Sabbath . Not exatly but play different by guitarist of Wolfmother . But i like this band ( Wolfmother) too
yeah and lets pretend for a second that Oasis did make good music. those 2 brothers that are kind of "in charge" of the band are 2 of the biggest self absorbed asswipes I've ever seen
Hey anyone know if this is a cover there's like two songs that seem to covers first one being tales from the forest of gnomes and the second being this one california queen.

oh jesus christ! they used the same two notes breadfan did 30 years ago! i think they should be hanged for their offences!
get over it ffs lots of stoner rock bands use them types of riffs
FunkyBuddha15 2 years ago
Agreed. I could easily recognize like 5 seventies rock tunes, among them, iron man, LA Woman, Breadfan, Speed King.
For sure at this point of time, nothing is new. All is "borrowed".

Breadfan and Iron man meet the Australian recycler.
Come on Wolfmother, originality costs nothing. Why not surprise us all with a riff that no one can recognise?
Even the title is a play on 'Mississippi Queen' by Mountain!

Yep, Breadfan by Budgie. i should know, i play in a Budgie tribute!
What I dont get is that everyone will lap this up but wont listen to Budgie.
sacko11uk 2 years ago
For everybodies info the main riff is a rip of Breadfan by
Budgie but they haven't been decent enough to just
do a cover of Breadfan.
