  • 16 people doesn't like this song? BOO!

  • Can you do something about the audio it sucks!!!!

  • i can't get this song out of my head damn it

  • my name is jaya and i love this song's haha

  • acha acha jayajaya lalalala nehi nehi

  • jaya means victory,it's also an indonesian word

  • ..คิดถึงนักร้องนำ อิอิ อิ

  • cool and popular back then...

  • It seems like a mantra that they remixed. Its supposed to be repetitive and there's a purpose why it is. Well they did a good job of remixing a mantra into something that will fit modern taste. As far as im concerned this goes on my mp3 for life!

  • go vegan

  • 1 hits this song another hits don't ask?

kula shaker never write hits song again, so pathetic kula shaker never can create a good song just govinda, govinda and govinda!!!

  • are they buddhist, indian or something but i miss 90's!?

  • i miss 90's

  • LOL. I wonder, how does he sound to the locals?

  • I remember this song from the past on Channel V in India

  • you should see the vocaloid version :)

  • I'm assuming the singer is a westerner who learned these words for the song . It's great, but I am curious how it sounds to a native speaker.

  • 90's the best !

  • All around the world, people who are not devotees are singing the holy names because of bands like this! i love it!

  • All glories to Krishna Kanta (Cripsian Mills)

He's hypnotised the atheists, muslims and christians into singing The Holy names of God when if they knew it was all Hindu they would flip out

    lol

  • KRSNA is stunning in this video, the Gopis are too

  • i know, and I'm Buddhist, i blast it out my car driving into college then play it on the radio :)

  • not really. i dont really care what he's saying, he could be saying your mom's name for i care, not concerned with religion

  • govinda jai jai

a great song by a great band

  • I am in Indonesia.

I like this song and Video.

    I remember in 1997.

  • my indian friend totally sings this in temple

  • this song is great and this band is great :)

  • Great song!!

  • wow...epic...success!

  • so true!

  • beautyful song

  • me late la musica pero no entiendo nada

    saludox

  • esta canción y tattva están escritas en sanscrito (una lengua clásica india), por eso no entendemos nada de lo que dicen, y utilizan instrumentos tradicionales de la india, por ello nos llega

  • epic song

  • Greatness!

  • Amazing!!! I loved every moment of this.

Wish i could attend his concert one day. What a genius of an artist!!!!

  • Hare Krishna !

  • Govinda !

  • Electric tune, the world just wasn't ready for something like this back in 97, pity they couldn't wait 12 years, still doesn't take away from the wonderful sound they created!

  • So true on what you said there, the music scene isn't ready for Kula Shaker in the 90's. The mystic and beauty of their tune will never fade no matter how lone time pass.

  • Mystical and intense! They deserved better credit for their talent.

  • I1997 was the first time I heard this song from a friend. This song is still hot after all these years!

  • Good psychedelic sound!

  • So ahead of their time; food for the soul - Tell all your friends!

  • Utterly cosmic and intense. Adore it!

  • Nice

  • This whole album was amazing. The fusion of eastern and western should have gotten more credit than it did at the time.

  • with this band the psychedelic rock reborn

  • the best when stoned, magical, in 40 years time they will be viewed like the beatles.

  • I hope someday they get the sucess they deserve..amazing band...so underrated!!

  • I agree, there's so much wonderful music in the world and sadly the world is being polluted by the bullshit of American MTV.

  • Yeah right! Good music isnt good for big business. Greedy capitalists want something "commercially viable" Its no good.

  • quit blaming America for everything. Besides, MTV doesn't even play videos anymore and when they did, this band was played.

  • That's true! I remember watching "Hush" on there.

  • radio19952001, Go fuck yourself, I never blamed America, only MTV.

  • just a mere mortal,,,,,but great song when stoned,x

  • Oh man great memories flooding back. When I was 15, 16 this song ruled my world. Loved Kula Shaker.

  • well this list of comments has confused me.... I know very little about the other traditions nor do I recognise any of your mantras, I'm a resident lay practitioner with the New Kadampa Tradition, we live within the monastic community and live by all but one of the same rules (lay have no celebacy vow) could someone explain if these groups mentioned are buddhist or hindu or what? and what limits does a lay practitioner have compared with the ordained?

by the way... great track :0)

  • Comment removed

  • @budfairy

What you are practicing is Buddhisim. Thats why you cant recognize any of these mantras. Most buddhist slokas/stotras (mantras) are based in 'Pali' or Prakrit' languages whereas Hindu slokas are in 'Sanskrit'. The life of an ordained be it in Hinduism or Buddhism is the same more or less with celibacy, vegan diet, daily rituals etc(with minor differences among sub-cults/offshoots). If you need further info on Hinduism, send me a message.

  • I used to love this group!

  • why not anymore :-(

  • I've not heard any of their material for years!

  • Tune

  • 1) I doubt if Krishna really ruined Harrison or Y.O.T. 2) Besides that, Crispian Mills belongs to the Gaudiya Matha (of which ISKCON or the "Hare Krishna movement" is a split-off (and not the other way around)), and the practices are somewhat different. 3) And please do not confuse monastic standards with the regular lives of practicioners that do not live in temples. 4)And maybe just a nice point to finish: by the way: Crissie Hynde is a disciple of the same spiritual master Crispian Mills has.

  • OMG What a song. An authentic Gem.

  • Great song !! Govinda jaya jaya Gopal jaya jaya !!!

  • time machine? does anyone have a time machine?

  • ha ha ha...Though I like the song, your point is well taken.

  • yes everything you see is a creation of your imagination so create yourself a time machine

  • If I can only imagine myself back in the 90's.. I won't need a time machine anymore..

  • same thing lol i just thought it would help you to believe it more if you created a time machine and went into it

  • One of the best songs of 90's.

  • Govinda Jaya Jaya,

    Gopala Jaya Jaya

    Radha-ramanahari

    Govinda Jaya Jaya

  • @nellymargarita if only those islamic people can make their "allahuakbar" like this song

  • right :S

  • the times when the music was meaningful

  • What do you mean? You don't think that "Wait'll you see my dick?" is meaningful?

Wait wait -- how about "My body's too bootylicious for you"??

    lol No really, I agree.

  • haha you took the words right out of my mouth

  • LOL

  • Dandavats !!

  • Ahh the memories, I saw this band at V97. really enjoyed them back then but never got anything past this album, same with placebo really.

  • Brilliant. Chant and be happy.

Please produce more videos with the Names of God. that's wonderful

  • Well, then what is that guy asperin doing on your profile who seems to be a jew hater & a fanatic moslem??

Well, one man's symbol of peace/immortality/the self[swastika] is the obverse symbol[poison?] for his antagonists, that is logically evident & fairly acceptable.

  • Wow! That's utterly bizarre! I'm not a Muslim in the slightest! Nor was Krishna a Nazi or an anti-semite. I don't talk to racists and especially not Nazis sympathisers! This is the last communication we will have. Don't bother replying.

  • THIS IS SO MYSTIC! BEAUTY AND RELAX...

  • I cant figure it out. Is the guy acting the role of Govinda in this video actually a guy or a girl? the face is beautiful and its feminine and very young. while the body is a guy!

  • great song! GOVINDA JAY JAY!!

  • govinda jaya jaya

  • Govinda is the Lord of the world. Insult him and you will be doomed. bet it.

  • jajajajjaj

  • not funny at all...

  • i was on 1st grade when i first saw this on MTV and i liked it --- i was probably a weird child or i just like the thought that caucasians are singing in some otehr language like some role reversal since people would want to sing in english...

  • he pronunces his non-english R's perfectly, which i know is difficult for english speakers :) how refreshing.

    great song!

  • good song takes me back when i was 18 or 17 (teen boy):)i have this album and i listen it very often:)

  • wat?

  • what happened to them (KS)?

  • Kula Shaker's reformation has its origins in sessions for a charity album made with the New Braja Village School (a private school in Badger, California for young people which includes as part of the curriculum teachings about Krishna and devotional music). The album 'School Of Braja' was recorded in 2004 and finally saw release in late 2006.

  • =_)

  • ..I've thought the same ;_)

  • what gives u the nerve to call me strange on youtube??

  • Takes me back to college days :o)

Was my favourite album back then.

  • I just spent 3 hours looking for this song on the internet. I remember it from when I was a kid and it's stuck with me all this time!! Good, good song! :-)

  • Ohhhhhhmmmmmmmmm......

  • its om actually

  • Ive loved this song since they put it out. Is there anyone that can translate the lyrics? I would really enjoy understanding the intent!!

  • Govinda is one of the names of Krishna (God) it means the pleasure of cows, land & senses. Jaya (loosely defined) is victory, so Govinda Jaya Jaya is "All glories to God". Also he sings "Jaya Nrisinghadev, Jaya Nrisinghadev" this is also glorifying an incarnation of God, one especially known for protecting his devotees.

The idea is when you sing/chant Gods names, you feel bliss - something that most people have experienced when hearing this...

  • where is Kula Shaker now?but anyways..i love this song..this is one of my favorites since i was in high school..but sad to say..my KULA SHAKER cassette tape was lost..so now i keep on searching for this song and album..but its no longer available..so i would like to thank to the person who posted this vid..it reminds me of my friends when we got high on alcohol on our drinkin sessions since high school..and now im 26 years old..i still love this song man..tnx

  • govinda jaya jayaa gopanda jaya jayaa. i like this music :D

  • kula shaker is still underrated compared to oasis, though i wouldnt wanna pit the two against each other cos crispian was or still is an oasis fan. obvious hes gotta nicer attitude compared to the asshole gallager...obviously they got skills compared to...coldplay?

com'on on what basis can one say theryre overrated...they havent yet gotten the recognition they deserve in the US..better leave it that way to keep them from becomming really overrated.

  • stfu fag, its not our fault that your musical taste sucks

  • I love it! :) Crispian is fantastic :) xx

  • can anybody comment in BOLD?

  • Yeah there should be a video about that on youtube

  • Gaura Gaura Gaura Hariiiiiiii!!!!

  • wow, the user who has uploaded this video is making anti-religious moves and marked negative rating for some informative stuff about religious books..if that is the case, then remove this video, cuz tis is sort of a religious/ prayer video......how can you be a hypocrite ...doing two different things opposing each other?

  • Is it possible to get the same in better quality? for free.. :)

  • I am not a Krishna devotee - but wow what a great version of a mantra. I remember hearing the Krishna Mantra Temple version when I was kid and it did not have the guts the blending of instruments and great feel this has.

  • awesome

  • any1 has the lyrics and what the song means?

  • Govinda Jaya Jaya

All glories to Govinda (protector of Cows, Krishna, God)

    Gopala Jaya Jaya

All glories to Gopala (same person)

    Radha Ramana Hari

    The lover of Radha

    And then it goes,

    Narshimhadev, jaya Narshrimhadev

All glories to Lord Narsimha (Protector of bhaktas, the devotees of Krishna)

And then they mention Prabhupada, the person that brought the Hare Krishna movement to the west.

  • Thanks for replying with the lyrics. :)

  • Hey i've got a really great idea... let's all argue about everything BUT the music video!! I think this is a great song and video, thank you for posting! P.s arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics... even if you win your still retarded.

  • and your point is?

  • If i need to reiterate my point for clarification then i'm really not sure i wish to discuss further with you, it is clearly beyond your comprehension.

  • I bought this album when i was in about 4th year at school and everyone used to slag me for liking kula shaker. These same people were listening to aqua haha

  • Nice ha still the same bleedin thing really

  • Man i heard this song when i was in 5th grade.

  • I love this band, this album, and this song!

I always said that Hindu chants were as catchy as pop songs, and they proved me right!

  • ok just found out he is hayley mills son

  • He is from the famous acting family, the mills is'nt he ? is he juliet mills son?

  • merciful? how can we be when we kill our own kind for gain and in cases for fun? and how come every other carnivorous animal or fish gets to eat flesh? remember humankind is the most dangerous/evil animal on earth. eating flesh is the least detrimentel of our vices

  • we cannot be merciful if we mercilessly kill millions of animals a minute to feed the desire for flesh espeically when we not only need it but it is detrimental to out health and longetivity + also...

Feed the desire of the flesh? It's called the circle of life and we're on the top of the food chain.
