They leave the 72 st station, and run into the park via 100th st? I guess they figured mo one would notice. that would have required a 28-block run uptown. I went to this area, and recognised the 72 st. station, but the 1100th st way in looked familiar, too.
I think it takes place in some "comicbook" reality in which there are so many gangs on the streets of New York ordinary people are afraid to go out in the night. Ironically enough that wasn't that far from the reality of late 70's New York.
Here's an interesting fact about that Furies scene: they had to call in a track team for stunt doubles. Walter Hill wanted every running scene to be done at full speed(runnin' their asses off) and the Furies were pukin' all over the place. So they called in a track team to do the scene. Just a little FYI. Cool vid!!!!!!!

the 72st subway was used to be 96th St
also you can see papya King which used to have 3 hotdogs for a dollar There is also a quick shot where you can see the Large digital
clock on the Manhatan savings bank which is on 74 th
