Howard McNair, (Floyd Lawson), is priceless. The whole cast was well chosen. The entertainment of 50 years ago was much better than the horseshit we are offered today. I guess not everything progresses with time.

Allan Melvin was in like 900 episodes. This one...as well as being an army recruiter in a Ernest T. Bass episode, he was Fred Plummer who threatened Barney to not take off his uniform, he was the escaped convict that Gomer and Barney let escape, he was the house detective when Andy and Barney went to Raleigh, and Clyde Plont who threatened to beat up Howard Sprague over Millie. Not to mention Sgt. Hacker on Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C and Sam The Butcher. Busy man.
