The NOI teaches Islam and the followers are muslims. Islam means peace and the NOI has minimal to no record of violence in it's history. I think a Kaffir is an arabic term that means 'concealer of the truth'. It is often used loosely in the Islamic countries for those who are considered 'non-believers' of Islam.

When the Minister was quoting the Bible, they edited that the Minister was quoting DIRECTLY from the Bible when when talked of "....you are not real Jews...." and "....the synagogue of Satan".

Do some research..the Great Imam Deedat and The Minister were very very close friends. The minister was with him a few days before he passed away. Deedat was brilliant and a true Muslim brother. See this is what you don't understand, ideology doesn't determine your faith, only religious your expression. My mother is a black woman, so is Condaleza Rice, but they don't view the world the same, religion the same, poitics, etc...but that could never change the fact they are both black women.

Louis Farrakhan is not a Muslim and I can say that from the basis of his own revelations. He is a racist and Islam does not provide for racism. He admitted to ordering the death of Malcom X and he is responsible for that.

However, in recent years the NOI has been changing their theology and moving closer to Sunni Islam. Farrakhan in particular has reached out to Sunni Muslims (search this on utube), which may indicate that his beliefs may be in light with true Islam.
