Even though my music production is mostly computer-driven, I bought a MPC just because I wanted to try and get that Dilla feel on my drums. He did it better ... I will probably die before I master what Dilla did with no effort. Chicken Grease? Those drums ... wow, those drums are incredible.
He was on his deathbed creating an album SNM. You don't get producers like this anymore, he had so much passion. The story about him at the Grammy's is moving, the guy was just too real...
AYYYY THIS IS BIZNESS! And @ Stefan2SERB... lets get something straight. Im no patriot. Hell, I despise lots of things about our country, specifically the conservative, church and state intertwined government. You over here throwin slaps at the "yanks" but dont forget homie, J-Dilla is a "yank" HIP HOP and its culture originated in yankee land. We export our culture (for better or worse) and they world consumes, imitates, and innovates from it. We set the bar on many things.
you know that feeling you get when you see a great film?? well i have that right now... i love J Dilla so much, he inspires me so hard to do and be all i can be... RIP J Dilla!!! Love form all round the world straight to you xox
i wrote a college paper recently about dilla. i'm so passionate about his music. i never reached such a positive response from a professor. he loved my paper so much he demanded that i give him a cd containing my favorite dilla production.
If there is such thing as an afterlife, first thing i'm gonna cop when i get there is dilla's album. I bet he already has a couple of classic albums by now
If people ask me 'Who is your favorite producer?' I always say 'J Dilla definitely. He is the best!' ...and I don't say that because he passed away. I say that, because Jay Dee was the best producer. if you listen to the original samples and what he made of them, the way he flipped them, that whole soul and very special sound he brought to the music...was just amazing. R.I.P. Jay Dee!!!
@Stefan2SERB yeah its a sick documentary but the music is all U.S.A so to be fair the documentary wouldnt exist without the yank music in the first place. im english. just sayin . . .
@Stefan2SERB real talk man. Im not going to lie I appreciate all of you guys over there in the UK Europe. Because they don't appreciate REAL FUCKIN MUSIC IN AMERICA. KEEP THE LEGACY ALIVE OVER THERE AT LEAST SOMEONE WILL.
