  • dada films are good, i think better than the graphic art... i don't really like graphic dadaism but films are a such surrealistic... interesting

  • i can fap to this

  • j'aime Hans Richter

  • Of course the Nazis would rush to destroy a film involving flying hats and disappearing beards.

  • odd yet so artistically creative. i noticed the effect at 5:15 is an effect in Windows MovieMaker called "edge" is he the creator of that effect?

  • @deLasChivas you're an idiot.

  • @notmusics FUCK you.

  • @deLasChivas LOOOOOOOOOL U MAD

    DR. DRE!

    did i strike a nerve?

  • @notmusics WTF? seriously just go jack off or something.

  • @deLasChivas "LOL DID HANZ RICHTER LERN 2 MAKING NEGATIVE PICHERS B4 ANY1. I LUUUUUV WINDWOS MOVIE MAKERS. AM I ART TOO???" that's you

  • @notmusics "LOL I Pwned dat NOOB for comparing solarization to edge detection! I know it ain't! I SMARTER THAN HIM! I IS PHOTO EXPERT" That's you.

  • i have posted the same video with different music. such beautiful work and amazing that it was done in 1927

  • DADA IS DEAD BUT IT CAN'T BE MORE ALIVE!!!!

  • such a great ending!

  • i'm spechless, it's a completely astonishing film

  • Donald Sosin's soundtrack is lovely. Such a sensitive treatment of the (quite wonderful) material.

  • Great ending :)

  • That was fucking Awsome!!

  • Had to do an essay for this film on my final, the class: Cinema and Rebellion

  • thnks for this.

  • great, great, great, GREAT! :D

  • Amazing! Thanks for ahring this film!

  • Fantastic. So ahead of its time. amazing peice.

  • Ahead of its time? I'd say it is the perfect product of its time, reflecting the aesthetic trends of the 1920s avant-garde.

  • I have always envied the surrealist movement, they must have had so much fun making these, well, surreal clips bursting with creativity.

  • this isn't surrealist, it's dadaist, my film history class says so, haha

  • @hersheyshayer

and everything anybody has ever learned in school is always right then huh? even that crap about columbus? even that crap about cleopatra being egyptian? even that crap about english being the original language of america? hmmm...i am imagainining either you are a teacher or are shagging one.

  • @MrFlashBazbo okay...

  • @hersheyshayer I learned the same thing and personally I always found it to be more Dada than surrealist. The objects moving and taking on a life of their own is something that shows up in a lot of Dada work such as Entr'acte. Also, it lacks the dream like quality of works like Un Chien Andalou and The Seashell and the Clergyman.

  • I think the sound track works so well. You have a true understanding of surrealism.

  • This isn't surrealism. This is DaDa.

  • lizzmasta

Dada was absorbed by the surrealism movement by the time this film was made.

  • Wow! This is incredible.

  • Brilliant!

    Hans Richter was a genius.

  • could some1 please explain this more

  • Well art means different things to different people. What did it say to you?

  • "Vormittagsspuk (Ghosts before breakfast) becoming one of the first surrealist films. The characters are everyday objects incited to incongruous juxtapositions and demented sequences of actions by a revolt against routine."

  • we watched this is in film studies class the other day!

thanks so much for posting this!

  • None of them were killed in the war.

  • sad. everyone in this vid was probably killed in the war. spare a kind thought for them.

  • hitlers ugly face is Degenerate art!! curse that little arrogant pig!

  • much appreciated.
