At 0:25, where the cage is connected to the floor of the monocoque body, the metal plate should be 30+ mm greater in all directions. That's the weakest point of the entire structure and you know, the car body's sheet is too weak to withstand the impact forces with the current setup. The thickness of the plate should be at least 8 mm and additional vertical triangle plates should be used as extra strong connection between the plate and the vertical tube.
It's built to top spec. Mig welded stitch on the chassis and TIG on the cage, using T45 tube. I should know I worked for them for 12 years. Too much welding?? No dumb ass, that is what is legall required. Twat

i would mig weld the whole thing might not be as pretty, well it would be close and faster and just as strong tig takes forever to do.

rally cages have to be designed to withstand 10 times the weight of the car. wrapping around a tree at 130 mph is always a possibility.
