lisa's sister is a fucking dumb bitch, oh her teeth looked really funny all the time, has this adult woman got any fucking clue??? She probably said shit like this in front of her mentally ill sister...
why dont close the bridge for people in portugal the big they all close and when you pass it the police is there, we must anderstand how to deal with mental illness the government, us people, family all of us we must trie to stop and care for this people, sory for the english
Is it just me, or do most the people around the victims seem like selfish pieces of shit? Maybe if they had better families and friends they would still be here.
May and August were the two months where most people died from suicide in 2004, i dont know if there are made statistics about that subject so it is these two months most will die from jumping from the Golden Gate bridge every year.
Some of them could be one of those missing people. I wish there was a way to find out who the jumpers were so their families would know what happened :(
When that girls brother says that it's a great way to draw attention to yourself, angers me so damn much. There's other ways to get attention rather than jumping off a bridge and killing yourself.
Just goes to show money cant buy happiness. There are more people jumping off the San Francisco bridge than the Brooklyn bridge! For those of you who don't know, houses in San Francisco, start at a million dollars.....
@bedtime420 The filmmaker decided to sit under the bridge for a year when he heard about how many people committed suicide each year. He managed to see 23/24 suicides that happened during that time. He is using the footage to advocate for these people.
This country is very unnatural and produces a host of side effects. When I lived overseas in one of the poorer countries I was at my happiest. When I came back, I never fully adjusted.
If I ever get to walk along this bridge sometime in my life, I know I'm not going to be able to view it without feeling all these heartbreaking emotions.
Lisa's family is a classic example of people who have no idea how to deal with mental illness. They had no idea what was actually going on with her and had no interest in understanding. They really think her teeth were rotting away because of soda? Clearly this girl was crying out for help with hard drug use and was experiencing suicidal thoughts and reckless behavior, yet they were too self absorbed to acknowledge it.
@borzoicrest I agree, the way her sister talks especially...she comes off as seeming like she thinks she was superior to her sister because her sister had mental health issues.
@borzoicrest It has nothing to do with being self absorbed. Her family was just ignorant on how to deal with mental illness. If someone has never experienced any form of mental illness for their whole life and then suddenly it is pressed upon them, you can't expect them to understand or empathize completely. Obviously they handled it wrong, but its not exactly the easiest situation to handle.
why haven't they put up some sort of suicide prevention barrier on the bridge to stop people from being able to climb over it? Sydney harbour bridge would be an example of this, is the appearance of the bridge more important than peoples lives?
@phucksake they are afraid that if they put up a fence or something similar that it would cause too much wind resistance, resulting in the entire bridge blowing over. because the bridge can get very strong winds. But i think they could make something that won't cause a lot of resistance.
There will be both highs and lows in everyones lives. What people do not realize is that life will get worse but it WILL get better. The mind fluctuates no matter how much you try to control it. I am sorry for the people who took their lives but all I can say is patience. I've learned from personal experience in the battle of depression and I knew that I would get over it. Focus on things that you love doing and learn to love life. RIP to all of the jumpers and future jumpers a like.
@axblake1 He's deluded himself because it provides him with emotional comfort. There is no god. What we should focus on is the harmful mental state that makes people feel the need to resort to making up fictional beings in order to cope with reality.
it's hard to show respect to people who commit suicide. the act of committing suicide is the most selfish thing a human being could ever do. think about the repercussions that happen as a result of taking your own life - how deeply saddening it is to your family, friends, any anyone else who have been through your life. it can dive them crazy, and change THEIR lives forever as well. in any case, i wish these families the best and lets all help by PREVENTING this from happening.
@StanDolla Ive had 13 friends commit suicide in 4 years, I hate how people say its selfish, I mean if the person didnt want to live its their own choice to take their life. Im content but I think to each their own. Mourn the loss but all people are born to die, in my eyes its a privilage an honor to know when your own life will be taken, not that I think suicide is good I just think people should be respected for their wish and to be left at peace.
@BushMan4200 thanks for sharing your point of view on this, I definitely had never thought of it that way. I'm sorry for your loses, and I wish you the best. =)
When you look at the film.. the hardest bit is to realise that those jumping are no computer generated images in order to generate a dramatic effect. No.. these are the actual suicides. And just look at the people around them: they are basically walking by or standing left and right of these victims and giving fuck all about it.
This is so heartbreaking. They must have felt so alone and afraid in their last moments. I just can't understand why no one stepped in and tried to talk them down.
Kevin, you are such a handsome and intelligent young man. stuff I'm sure you've heard a hundred times. but I was thinking of my end and for some reason came to your video. Let's make it together. @lvlark123 Yes because we all know FICTIONAL CHARACTERS have total control over individual lives. It has nothing to do with the person, perspective, circumstance or THEIR chosen actions. Religious idiocy aside, this is a very fascinating movie.
@YTisInteractiveTV I think too much about myself? I don't see how... Also, I don't think about comments on YouTube that much, you just came across as an asshole. Lastly, it seems you don't know what those words mean so I suggest not using words when you don't know what they mean. Have a good day.
@YTisInteractiveTV Yes, because that makes sense. First off, Ted Turner is still alive. Secondly, you don't have to commit suicide to come back as a ghost. Good one.
On a lot of bridges around my way there are signs put up that says 'In despair, call the Good Samaritans' in the hope that these people will call and not jump. the only thing is is that it is an 0845 number so if you aint got credit on your phone you're fucked.
@xkittylover12 I have had chronic depression for many years, after many years of living with it i have some how come good over time, learn't to cope or self medicated alot.. Ok, i smoked alot of weed. But as someone who has spent an hour watching this and understanding how these people felt i hope you get through it, i really hope you darlin. Big Hugs to you
That or i totally misinterpreted this comment and just sounded like a douchette hahaha Good luck and i hope you find peace
@doctortwyla If people are depressed and suicidal then why not go out and rob a bank, get a lot of money, and then review your circumstances. If you still feel like shit then give the money away anonymously to a good cause. At least someone will benefit from you being a depressive life-waster.
@DW01 Lol that is the most stupid comment i have ever read and i've been on youtube a while and seen A LOT of them. Yeah if major criminals can't get away with a major bank robbery surely someone who just wants to end their life could. A dickhead like you should be a hero and do it, help the people who need it when you donate the money, you pathetic, youtube commenting, life waster. Now if anyone here should jump off a bridge it should be someone emotionally and mentally inept as yourself.
@doctortwyla Your comment made me smile to be honest. I like the way you get so aggressive and offensive as if i'd just took a shit on your dining table or something...
Look, suicidal people are a drain. If they want to die then go and do it in private and don't make a mess.... Alternatively, review your whole situation then go and make something happen that will bring happiness to yourself or others. I'd rob a bank. In, hand over a note, out. Lots of money. If it don't make me happy then
@DW01 "If they want to die then go an do it" The problem with this argument is that you totaly refuse the fact that people can change their mind. I doubt you would have that attitude to your depressed best friend - because you know if you give him/her the time and care they might change.
@mindcux Yes but why should people spend time trying to convince these people to change their minds? And yes you are right, i would give the time and care if it was a loved one. However, seeing as most of these suicidal Sids aren't, they are just an inconvenience waste of resources and a life.
My train often runs late because some tool as thrown themselves in front of it. Selfish.
I'm appalled by some of the comments people have made on this video. Suicide is a tragic loss. The people who have committed suicide deserve respect not ill treatment and hateful words spoken over the internet. If you've ever lost someone to suicide you know that it's not exactly a pleasant feeling so for someone to mock your grief or anyone's for that matter is disgusting. Death isn't funny, especially when someone takes their own life. Show some respect for the people who lost their lives.
@Heklep@Remy766 There not pussy's. You have no idea what they may be going through you may have a nice life where suicide might not even think of it but people like this may have no home no family to turn to no friends to help them no job so why would they want to live? If someone in your family decided to commit suicide will they be a pussy too?
@Remy766 they didnt lose their lives. they threw them away by being cowards. its a tragedy for the people left behind but no one should ever take their lives no matter how bad things get. unless its for euthanasia purposes.
Being so perceptive to see peoples stupidity constantly is pretty disconcerting at times, the guy in the leather jacket went out like a badass though lol
This was very hard to watch. It's hard to watch people feel such despair and loneliness. To watch the hurt the people around them feel, but as someone who thought of suicide in the late 80's...Life is one moment in time! Enjoy it, celebrate it...love the gift you've been given! I'm so thankful I didn't kill myself in the 80's, because I am now living my dream and enjoying everyday of my life...Dream Big! Please take time to tell someone you love..."i love you"
@downeyjrdepp Maybe it's part of the Cost Guard? Like a suicide watch, so they can act quickly to either save them or recover their bodies?
Side note - I think it's really sad that they're made to feel like criminals at what is obviously the lowest point in their lives when the Bridge Patrol stops them.
Side SIDE note - I think the Aokigahara suicide forest in Japan is creepier.
There's so many ignorant people on here its frustrating! Subjects as strong as this should not be joked about, you would understand if you have been in a position where suicide has affected your life and family. People should look out for each other, especially when we are at our lowest low. Enjoy the documentary and learn from it, these are peoples lives and their families are still grieving.
My dad jumped off a bridge when I was 17 and it was traumatic for me....but he was hurvting from a leg injury that je couldnt live with...he was 42 and he had worked so hard his whole life,,,you never know the pain some people deal with..its very sad when these things happen,,,
i couldnt imagen myself in this state of mind...these people were pushed to the limit of no care in the world...in a way i guesse its good they made this decision so they wont suffer anymore,,but many of thier friends and families will mourn
My heart goes out to the families of people (any people) who decide to take their own life, and my heart goes out to the people who are forced to make the decision to take their own life. I'm so sorry that life was so bad for you, that you could not take any more. I hope they are in a better place now, happy and safe.
...judge me but it is not my fault that I suffer from such mental illnesses. I am sharing because I know there is people reading this that go through the same, & I just want to say you are not alone! As to the ignorant people talking shit, it's so easy for you to judge suicide victims but you have NO IDEA what pain these people go through in such dark times. R.I.P to all suicide victims around the world.
This documentary really made me cry, because I have been through such dark depression when you think you will never be happy and that nobody cares, I am 18 years of age but I have been through alot growing up as to others but the difference is that I really relate to the 24 year old guy that survived, because I too suffer from bipolar (which I was recently diagnosed with, while at the hospital here in the bay area), anxiety, major depression and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) You can
Why do they let all these pedestrians walk over the bridge?? Most bridges that are not a part of city streets don't let bikes or pedestrians cross over. That's the way it should be.
@Gamezalot It's not uncommon, so don't think your "different" or that something is wrong with you. Sometimes our brains shut off the emotional response '"stations" of our brain when something terrible happens, especially when it happens to people we don't know. It becomes too much for us to handle I guess. It might also be because it was their choice (circumstances/mental disabilities aside)... it's not like it was a tornado, or a fire, or something uncontrollable like that.
I live a little over an hour away from the Golden Gate Bridge, and there is not a day that goes by where I don' think about driving there and taking the leap. Every single thing in my life is destroyed (no money, no job, no relationship, losing my home, lost my retirement, no joy for life whatsoever, isolated 24/7, credit destroyed, in major debt, have severe depression and panic disorder, can never sleep). Every day I think about many ways to do myself in and the bridge is one of my options. :(
@OZRIC1985 Dont do that man, there are so many things in life to enjoy. dont take the cowards way out. im sure there are people out there that loves you, Don't man, stay strong. Just believe, one day things will get better, you have so much to life for. DONT DO IT
@OZRIC1985 If you need to talk please call the National Suicide Hotline
1-800-Suicide (1-800-784-2433). or you can also call the crisis center at (352) 264-6789. there is always someone there that will answer the phone and will listen to you any day, any time. sometimes letting it out can make a little difference. i hope you make that call!
@OZRIC1985 i myself destroyed everything i had with meth and alcohol-horrible things happened to us during this time. i almost commited suicide and by girlfriend who i loved so much- during that time i would tell her to kill herself... well one night she walked 4 miles drunk to the tacoma narrows bridge and sat atop of it but thank the LORD she didnt. please pray about ive been saved by jesus christ and she has t....im not kidding he real its not a joke...he loves u so much... JUST PRAY TO HIM
@johnnydbenedict8388 i wish you all the best for the future, forget about all the shitty drink and drugs, no good can come out of all that shit. take care, and look after yourself.
@OZRIC1985 things will get better for you, i promise you, all you have to do is wait, live 1 day at a time, you're stronger than you think you are, don't ever under estimate yourself, be proud of yourself, you never know when something good is going to come and make life better.

@doctortwyla If people are depressed and suicidal then why not go out and rob a bank, get a lot of money, and then review your circumstances. If you still feel like shit then give the money away anonymously to a good cause. At least someone will benefit from you being a depressive life-waster.
DW01 1 week ago
@DW01 Lol that is the most stupid comment i have ever read and i've been on youtube a while and seen A LOT of them. Yeah if major criminals can't get away with a major bank robbery surely someone who just wants to end their life could. A dickhead like you should be a hero and do it, help the people who need it when you donate the money, you pathetic, youtube commenting, life waster. Now if anyone here should jump off a bridge it should be someone emotionally and mentally inept as yourself.
doctortwyla 1 week ago
@doctortwyla Your comment made me smile to be honest. I like the way you get so aggressive and offensive as if i'd just took a shit on your dining table or something...
Look, suicidal people are a drain. If they want to die then go and do it in private and don't make a mess.... Alternatively, review your whole situation then go and make something happen that will bring happiness to yourself or others. I'd rob a bank. In, hand over a note, out. Lots of money. If it don't make me happy then
DW01 1 week ago
.... give it away and try to make someone else happy, then top myself. Simple.
DW01 1 week ago
@DW01 "If they want to die then go an do it" The problem with this argument is that you totaly refuse the fact that people can change their mind. I doubt you would have that attitude to your depressed best friend - because you know if you give him/her the time and care they might change.
mindcux 6 days ago

Heklep 4 days ago
@Heklep @Remy766 There not pussy's. You have no idea what they may be going through you may have a nice life where suicide might not even think of it but people like this may have no home no family to turn to no friends to help them no job so why would they want to live? If someone in your family decided to commit suicide will they be a pussy too?
jenks59 4 days ago
@jenks59 yes because they are too much of a wimp to handle tough situations
Heklep 4 days ago
@Remy766 they didnt lose their lives. they threw them away by being cowards. its a tragedy for the people left behind but no one should ever take their lives no matter how bad things get. unless its for euthanasia purposes.

Please take time to tell someone you love..."i love you"

downeyjrdepp 1 week ago
@downeyjrdepp Maybe it's part of the Cost Guard? Like a suicide watch, so they can act quickly to either save them or recover their bodies?
Side note - I think it's really sad that they're made to feel like criminals at what is obviously the lowest point in their lives when the Bridge Patrol stops them.
Side SIDE note - I think the Aokigahara suicide forest in Japan is creepier.
grizelda1986 1 week ago

There's so many ignorant people on here its frustrating! Subjects as strong as this should not be joked about, you would understand if you have been in a position where suicide has affected your life and family. People should look out for each other, especially when we are at our lowest low. Enjoy the documentary and learn from it, these are peoples lives and their families are still grieving.

My heart goes out to the families of people (any people) who decide to take their own life, and my heart goes out to the people who are forced to make the decision to take their own life. I'm so sorry that life was so bad for you, that you could not take any more. I hope they are in a better place now, happy and safe.
