  • Director John Ford liked to say about his films....."It was just a job of work". In my opinion, MY DARLING CLEMENTINE is one of the great jobs of work ever put on film.

  • I watched it on TV at the time of the primary schoolchild and

remembered it. I thank for the picture of this memory.

    Thank you very much. (2011.03.15)

  • How gentlemanly, removing the hat in the presence of a lady...try that nowadays and you'll get bashed by the woman for being a 'chauvenist.'... how the times have changed.

  • @AzBboy come to europe

  • HAHA. Barber Shop & Dentist.

  • I used to dance like this at the civil war reenactments, so much fun!

  • i'm so glad i treat women like this :)

  • @vtmike13 thats cause you're a fag

  • @hiperf454 good one

  • I have really loved that film, hope the rest of his films are that good :D

  • whats the show called

  • Why don't ya'll shut up and enjoy the show.

  • Where is the song?????????

  • Thank YOU for posting those wonderful scenes from a John Ford....MASTERPIECE

    All the best!

  • Is that what you think women did before the feminist movement?

  • let me ask you this whats wrong with a woman having some independence? you think there are men out there who will work hard to provide for his wife, men like that don't exist anymore

  • Yeah, men like that don't exist anymore, you're right, and the reason is because nowadays, if a man ends up in divorce with a dependent spouse, he'll end up having to pay her lifetime alimony!

Thus, there is no longer an incentive for men to support their wife. Yet another fuck up by the feminists.

Secondly, all I'm saying is that feminism has come at a price. As soon as women became more independent, the divorce rate spiked! If you're a fair-minded person, you would at least acknowledge that.

  • I dont believe in alamony or anything like that, whem i get married i want prenub, i know what its like to work hard fr something.

I respect SAHMs my mom was one, but household duties was shared, mainly because my dad is a gormet cook lol but my mom did the house work and took me places when i was younger.

the reason i want some independence is because when my mom died i just felt lost, lost like if i had nothing else to live for.

  • This is why when i have my own kids boh sexes are going to learn how to keep a house and basic car repairs.

now about my beleifs, im a christian, I beleive that man is the head of the house hold and woman is the queen. I do believe when the bible says wives submit to your husband, and i am ready to do that, but he has to know the other part of that verse, Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church.

  • A gem of a movie....unknown to younger audiences....Henry Fonda nails his role

  • Comment removed

  • I like the part in the movie where Henry Fonda comes to Tombstone and asks the marshal there "What kind of town is this that sells liquor to Indians" LOL! that applies to today as well.

  • I remember watching this as a kid

  • Clementine actually looks ladylike. This is from an older era before the feminists took over and told women to behave like men. Haha!

  • hey now, i consider myself a feminist but im not like those women, I believe both sexes should no how to tend to a house and know how to do basic car repairs eg check oil pump gass change a tire.

I also believe that women should have the freedom yo choose, not the requirement, just the freedom

  • Stop. You're only proving my point.

  • what do you mean?

  • Very good,succint reply !

  • Sorry for the typing error...of course that should have been"succinct"

  • I hope you do understand that feminism has come at a huge price...a soaring divorce rate! As soon as women became more independent and less traditional, the divorce rate spiked. Absolutely no doubt about it.

  • so you're saying women should be stupid and be forcibly imprisoned to a life of house work and being a slave to her husband?

  • We don't forget these classics and there is no swearing , sex or general gutter language in them, I think the movie makers these days have lost the ability to make a class show or maybe people now are more basic and common.

  • You have to love how Henry Fonda's Wyatt is just tongue-tied in the presence of the lovely Clementine. John Ford fans will recognize Russell Simpson (talking about the 'dadblasted good dancin') as Pa Joad from 'The Grapes Of Wrath'. And the old guy playing the fiddle (at around 4:38) is John Ford's brother, Francis Ford, who also appeared in many of his brother's films.

  • Yes, they sure don't do movies like this one anymore.

  • my daugter is calling clémentine, we live in EUROPE,but our hearts are in TOMBSTONE.

  • Anybody knows the name of that tune they are square dancing on?

  • 'Pure cinematic poetry' is an apt description of this sequence. It's driving me crazy not being able to identify the name of the tune everyone is square dancing to -- heard it before, but can't think of the name. The song we hear as Clementine and Wyatt are walking to the dance is, of course, 'Shall We Gather At The River', a traditional hymn, also heard in Ford's 'The Searchers'. Used to (consciously?) jarring effect by Sam Peckinpah in the bloody opening sequence of 'The Wild Bunch'.

  • How about uploading the whole movie?

  • Pure cinematic poetry, the most beautiful sequence in American cinema

  • American cinema especially in that day and age had many beautiful sequences, but this is sure as good as any. For me Ford's best.

  • They sure don't do movies like this one anymore!

  • Great clip from a great film - thanks.
