The container was avchd, with the MTS extention

For Pinnacle you need to rename the files imported with PMB like "20091231121116.m2ts" back to "20091231121116.mts". It is a H.264 codec:

H.264 MPEG-4 AVC(HD)

Very high quality images; subject matter aside, this feels almost like a professionally made movie. It's amazing how far technology has come these days.
