their synch is just a littl bit off but a great performance all around (after all, what group is ever 100% perfect right? lol) as a Celtic Bohdran player i'm glad I got this chance to hear the real thing like this Drummign is the heartbeat of the world, let's keep it beating guys ^_^
I'm an Aboriginal Australian, and i love taiko drums,, i put alot of time and effort into what i do,, just like everyone does.. i play alot of instruments and by saying that we should stick to our own nationality is (for some people) telling them to give up everything they love. Music is the one thing that can bring people together and has the kind freedom to express any kind of emotion and feeling... ... ... its not where you come from that matters it's where your at
Yeah that's like saying that Japanese people can't play other intruments from other countries either. Music is music dude. Taiko is awesome. I think playing the shamisen would be very cool.
I wish the taiko group from yuba city was on here. Every summer at our Obon festivals they have great music, some written themselves, great coreography and are very together
black white blue red pink purple. we all bleed red and take shits and are capable of moving mountains. only americans classify they're people by "color" not ethnicity.
Stick and Drum is not only a part of Japanese Culture. Each human being interacts with their surroundings rhythmically, whether they're aware of it or not. 'Taiko' is a rhythmic expression of their culture. Their rhythm is notfar off from other cultural rhythms; it is altogether human. In this age, people from around the world are finally coming together to share music that has been felt by generations. This art could never be lost, oxladiz. Take a look around and enjoy the show. ;) No worries!
what do you guys mean about 'not been japanese'? I am japanese, and I think that whoever wants to express their joy and will power through any kind of art HAS the right to do so. It does not make it less real... art expression is a field to be tasted by all human kind and it does not have bounderies. So stop been bias. Otherwise you should not write in english , since this is a language that "belongs" to the native english speaker!
im also in a taiko club for 3 yrs. whenever i play taiko with may friends and sensei i just cant help it i love it from the bottom of my heart.evnthough im nt japanese or something i thnk anybody can relate to taiko as long as she/he loves playing it.the power of taiko is so amazing cant even xplain in words
I've been in a Taiko group for 3 years now...and I'm Black. Does that count? What about all the hours i spend practicing, and the fact that my hands, elbows, and shoulders will never be the same...but still i play because it speaks to my heart. Does that count? Despite my nationality?

yeah i dont mean to be prejudice but the white people are really enforcing an almost "we have the right to be in it" attiditude into the japanese clture.
What about me? Hows it that a half japanese half white kid can play taiko for 11 years? Maybe I only deserve to practice but shouldnt be allowed to be on stage? Or how about we split up the time, I can only play half as much as a full japanese person.
im white, but i sorta do agre it is japanese clture, but if people other that japanese dont do this sorta stuff it mite be lost and thats not what anyone wants!

Only my grandma is Japanese, so therefore I am a Wapanese and do not have the right to learn about my culture. Real classy guys!
