Thank you sooo much for posting this beautiful music - for many years, it was used as the opening track to the Australian ABC Radio program of Sunday Bonbons with Martin Hibble presenting, and my brother and I loved it very much. Finding the actual recording these days is said to be incredibly difficult. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to hear it on YouTube to tap into those memories again :)
I cannot help but CRY when I hear this ultra-beautiful, ultra-sad, ultra-ultra-*poignant* theme (especially as associated with the brilliant film adaptation & its tear-jerker-of-an-ending). So very beautful, so very sad. It, and the film, are masterpieces...
This Song brings back such fond memories of my childhood. I went through a Dolphin phase like some girls go through loving horses. The ending is so sad. Plus my father and mother looked like George C Scott, and the woman who played Maggie in the film, So now that my dad's gone. IT's even more sad when I hear one of the Dolphins Pha or Bee cry out "Pa" heart breaking, but a beautiful soundtrack, story and film, but wow that ending is too sad.
I've held a memory of being almost traumatized by the end of this movie, watching it as a small child, and for decades never knew the name of the movie until I heard it mentioned on CNN tonight. Perhaps one other legacy of the film for me, is that I've loved dolphins all my life. Even slept with stuffed dolphins as a child!
This is a masterpiece by Georges Delerue that should've won an award. I saw the movie as a young kid and even now it makes me cry when I watch the end.
Nobody..but NOBODY could write sad movie music like Georges Delerue....try STEEL MAGNOLIAS, OUR MOTHER'S HOUSE, CHOUANS, AGNES OF GOD, TRUE CONFESSIONS....even trite films like CURLY SUE and A LITTLE SEX ! Hollywood wasted this late genius......
Thank you for posting that! I just saw Agnes of God recently on HBO and heard the end theme. It sounded so beautiful I knew it must be by the same writer. I am going to find the ones you posted to hear his other works. I didn't not know he passed...True, Hollywood wasted this genius. Marvin Hamlish got the award in '73 for the sting - I still believe Delerue should have gotten it.
trish scott, is my mother. I am george d. Scott, george c scott's sun d stands for dordi it was just a coincidence that my middle initial is the letter after his. my father dyed when i was 2 i don't rember him or know what he looks like except for photos
I was so happy to find this! This was the first tune I ever taught myself to play, because it was so beautiful and haunting, I wanted it to stay with me for the rest of my life.
I love this beautiful soundtrack. I´d saw the movie as a child and still love it until today. The music is so sad at the end of the movie when they say farewell to the dolphins :(
Thank you for posting. Saw the movie as a teenager and cried at end. The music was so moving I couldn't stop crying. I have known this beautiful peice for 24 years, And still concider it the most beautiful movie ending.

Thank you for uploading this hauntingly beautiful piece. May the Dolphins be protected from ______; fill in the blank it will undoubtedly apply.

Very nice. I think the soundtrack for Fantastic Mr. Fox includes a couple of George Delerue pieces from other movies.

This has got to be the most precious and haunting theme of any movie I have ever seen and heard. Makes me cry...:-(
