In America, people in that situation are often left to die because they have no insurance or simply don't know what to do. American in England or France or Germany or CUBA will be taken to a hospital for treatment immediately. If you give even one person the convenience of living another day, then universal healthcare is worth having no matter the cost.

And it IS working for other countries. Canada is almost completely free of the effects of the recession because of the free healthcare, and Britain, where I live, is doing great because our country cares more about keeping us alive than making brown people dead. That's a good thing.
